History of Hatshepsut, the Female Pharaoh (Soft Spoken Male ASMR)

Hatshepsut is one of the most famous pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, and not only because she was a woman. Her reign of more than twenty years was prosperous and saw an intense building activity that can still be admired, especially in Thebes (present-day Luxor). In tonight's story, I tell you about the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt and the Eighteenth Dynasty. We will see how a princess and regent like Hatchepsut could occupy a throne that should have gone to her nephew Thutmose III, and what she achieved during her reign. I will also tell you of a few other queens of Egypt that preceded her and did occupy the throne of the pharaohs, like Sobekneferu, or could have reigned in uncertain circumstances, like Setibohr or Merit-Neith.

What's most impressive is that she was almost wiped out of any historical records. After the reign of her nephew, everything she worked hard to achieve was vandalized and destroyed almost erasing her from ever existing, but somehow we still know about her and her reign

One of my favorite historical figures! I’ve been fortunate enough to visit her mortuary temple. I love that we’re still learning about her even after they tried to erase her from history. Thank you for another great video.

28:31 im currently learning about this and my professor says it is believed that her nephew was recieving a military education during her reign, as we see him become one of the great warrior pharaohs. On top of that, there appeared to be no hostility between them as the destruction of her images came at the end of his reign, meaning they related moreso to ideas or kingship or the legitimacy of Amenhotep II, rather than any aggression towards Hatshepsut. From what i heard of this video, I'm glad you didnt lean into some older ideas about her being power hungry and stealing the throne (which evidence does not suggest), as women can be typically depicted :)

Yes I was aware of this. Toward the end of the video I talk about the destruction of her statues and inscriptions by the end of the reign of Thutmose III rather than at the beginning.
