These videos were made in 2020 as a desperate COVID-era attempt to help keep students engaged in learning as in-person teaching stopped. With no support, no resources, a ridiculous "production schedule," and no idea they would become a sort of permanent record of the time, I just threw them at KZfaq. The students mostly didn't watch them, but lots of others did, and that continues to amaze me. I decided to leave them up for anyone who is just curious about design.
NOTE: If you are a current student at Rhode Island School of Design and your professor has sent you here to watch these videos, you should really worry about how much tuition you are paying just to have a teacher sending you to KZfaq instead of teaching you themselves. Just saying...

Another fascinating lecture. I watched my first one on art deco, and this one did not disappoint, either.

I agree Jonathan Ive is merely just paying Homage to Rams. It is like sampling in hip hop. Its a huge honor to be tastefully and responsibly considered in someone else's design.

Funny to wonder how far Sony went. Starting from a rice cooker all the way to a video game console, movies production and so much more. Really interesting courses, M. Bird. Thank you for sharing this. -from a canadian industrial designer

We had both the older 1952 juicer as well as the 1957 design! This brought back so many memories.

I think there were more sirens at a certain point in covid. I live near a hospital though and I agree, it may be that we were more scared of them during the pandemic.

Geometer. A mathematician who specializes in geometry is called a geometer. (great video, by the way)

I just saw Isaiah William’s comment of 11 months ago, so I thought that I might try to add something more substantial. There are several professional geometers with KZfaq channels including Keenan Crane and Henry Segerman. Here are a few of Henry’s videos: -kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7R2i9F_2cqXqIk.html -kzfaq.info/get/bejne/npijmqqnyKndlJ8.html -kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZ57ZZmDxJqsepc.html -kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qraXl5WYsc61gH0.html

I feel like I'm stealing $10,000 of tuition fees with all these youtube lectures. Did an entire 12 week class at youtube Dartmouth, no homework either!!!
