How i recall at Christmastime of 1977 when I first saw The Original Batwoman in Batman:The 30''s to the 70's.She's Kathy Kane. I was 14 and already had the hots for her for being the most liberated Superheroine while Wonder Woman is from a Back ground of Anti-Male and of which is more extreme than fighting equal rights for both Men and Women.

I'm thinking Batman would've treated any new under powered amateur human hero in the same manner regardless of gender. too just show up in his city, which as he's said many times before is "His" City, he's gotta at least make sure you can hold your own but more importantly that you'll find crime in Gotham his way, or the highway. just as if someone were to enter blood haven they'd probably get the same treatment Bat Girl got, its a territory thing. It may be a case where if one is possessed of a mindset and personality of always thinking about social justice and gender equality issues would at times quickly assume that the panel as shown to be a case of misogyny, as it would almost certainly evoke a strong emotional response which You relate and identify with. I'm sure most of us have our own cognitive bias's and there's no way to keep them in total check, best you can do is identify them and do your best not to let emotion speak over logic, or at least let it have its say before you make your conclusions. Isn't there another version of Batwoman who was a military officer who was also an heiress and who leaves the military and uses her father resources to become Batwoman. I like Kate Kane better from a character standpoint, and I'd actually not mind if they just revised Kate as being the equivalent to Kathy in the modern universe and just pretend that she's the current earth's version of the silver age Batwoman. Cause honestly having it be that they were both at one point (in the current universe) Batwomen both with the lastname of Kane (and it's the same spelling! Not even Cain like Cassandra's was.) and their first names both being shortened versions of Katherine, just seems too wild a "coincidence" for an in-universe way of them both existing.

I was thinking about where there could be a place for Kathy in the New 52 Universe. I think she would make a ideal Suicide Squad member, with her background with Spiral it would be a good redemption for her and new direction; in my opinion.

Correction on Earth-2 it wasn't that Batman revealed his i.d. to the public but that in a fight with the Supervillian, Jenson who had pyrokinetic powers and saw his i.d. through the burning off mask.Then at the end of this 3 part story after Robin and The Huntress and the rest of The JSA triumphed over evil Dr.Fate then cast a spell to have separate graves for Bruce Wayne and Batman as well as have the people of the world forget The i.d's of Batman,Robin,and the Huntress.

Well for the original Katherine "Kathy" Kane you could always make her a retired crime fighter, whose time wearing the cape marked an after and before in Gotham, have her assume a support role to Batman's plans and operations like Alfred Pennyworth, Oracle, Lucius Fox and Dr. Leslie Thompkins, maybe running an ONG to help the poor or to restore Gotham to it's former glory (while occasionally donning the cape when needed) and have the new Batwoman Kate Kane be her daughter/niece/cousin same with Bette Kane, they could both be her protegees.

The reason people though Batman was gay was because of a German-born psychologist name of Dr. Fredrik Wertham. Back around '54 Wertham wrote a book called Seduction of the Innocent, taking a critical look at then-modern pop culture and "the dangerous effects" they were having on American Youth. Comic Books were a particular focus, horror/suspense books showing "graphic images to impressionable minds", and Superheroes, according to Wertham Superman was a fascist and illegal alien, Wonder Woman was leading young girls to Bondage, S&M, Lesbianism, and "inappropriate gender roles" (which was true, but that's another conversation), and Batman? Batman was the worst of all, he was a violent vigilante who, according to the Doctor, was "endorsing a positive homosexual lifestyle" with Robin. The whole thing was bull of course, completely discredited as Junk Science years later, but at the time it was taken seriously: parents groups protested, newspapers ran investigations, and Congress held Committees, and DC comics, in an effort to stem the coming shit-show, created the Comics Code Authority and, to save Batman, created Batwoman and Batgirl (Kathy and Betty Kane) as prospective romantic partners for the Dynamic Duo to quell the homosexual rumors. They quickly became the Batman Family with Ace the Bathound and the lovable 5th dimensional imp Batmite. That lasted until about '64 when Julius Schwartz took over as Editor and erased the Family, deciding they had become too much of a silly family sitcom, and returned Batman to his darker roots. Eventually the Family returned (more or less), starting with a new Batgirl, Barbara Gordon, Betty Kane returned with her name now Bette and using the hero ID of Flamebird (an ID Robin used briefly years earlier), they even brought back Ace and Batmite, though Ace is just a large dog Bruce Wayne adopted, all he does is hang out in the batcave, and Batmite may or may not have been a hallucination Batman was having while suffering a concussion. And Batwoman? She was brought back in 2006 as Kate Kane, and as a cheeky salute to Dr. Wertham, they made her gay.
