King Kong 2005 is my fav version of Kong and favorite movie he’s in mostly cause I grew up watching that the most. Especially all the island stuff, I must’ve watched that Kong dinosaur fight a billion times as a kid. So it still holds nostalgia in my heart.

I like how they are portraying Kong as the captain America of the monster verse. These other titans are stronger but he’s the glue that holds the stuff together.

KKvG is the reason I like Kong even more, bcuz he’s basically a kaiju-sized Shocksquatch from Ben 10. ….. What can I say? I’m a sucker for electrokinesis. Also, I like to think of MV Kong not only like Batman, but Conan the Barbarian, as well. Considering how Conan was born on a battlefield, so was Kong. Plus, I think it’s absolutely amazing how Toho initially planned to do a Godzilla movie that took place after KKvG, but the big twist is that it was Batman vs. Godzilla. But not just any Batman, it was the legend himself, the late and great Adam West! In the plot, he would’ve analyzed footage from Godzilla’s fights with Kong to figure out a way to defeat Godzilla. Unfortunately, this would be one of the numerous scrapped kaiju films Toho would never make. So, the fact that Batman’s finally got an anti-Godzilla mech now makes that out-there matchup we never got a full-on reality.

You seem to be forgetting "King Kong Escapes" (1967), in which Kong's opponent is Dr. Who (Not the one with a blue police box), and a Mecha-Kong. As always, thank you so very much for the videos. I love the first Kong movie, like Godzilla, I think the first movie is a wonderful combination of Story, and characters. Like Godzilla, I appreciate all the Kong movies, and Kong adjacent movies, (Including, "Mighty Joe Young" (1949), "Half Human" (1959), "Ape" (1976), "Queen Kong" (1976), "Rampage" (2018),) that followed but most of those I think of as "Giant Ape fun", versus being actual classics.

Kong is not the biggest, strongest or most powerful Titan but he makes up for it by being the smartest. He uses his environment to his advantage and is capable of expressing compassion and empathy. That's why he is my favourite "Monster"/Titan.

You forgot about The King Kong Show from 1966. It was a Rankin-Bass Production that was aired in both the USA (ABC) and Japan (TV Ashai)

Godzilla V Kong as it not only features my other favourite Kiju Godzilla, but also it’s almost Basically BVS but with Kijus and as a special bonus. That Mecha Godzilla really Reminds me of an alternate version of The Green Dragonzord especially with that spinning Drill Tail of his. Which is kind of funny as The Green Dragonzord was Obviously Inspired by Mecha Godzilla.

*Team* *Godzilla* *or* *Team* *Kong?* Hmm.. 🤔 That’s a tricky one for me to answer. I grew up loving both since I saw King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) on TV back in 1987-1988 when I was about 7. Now I think Godzilla is cooler. He’s really a kaiju that Kong wasn’t intended to be back in 1933. The original King Kong stood at 25-30 feet. OG Godzilla ‘54 or Minus One G23 at 164 feet would just step on Kong to kill him if he stood at 25-30 feet like he did in 1933 and 2005. If let’s say I’m a toy collector, I would pick Godzilla. He’s the more interesting creature to collect toys of. And I know a lot of guys when they were younger enjoyed dinosaurs when they were little kids, so Godzilla is like the ultimate dinosaur to them. He’s this atomic-breathing dragon with Jaws-like dorsal plates. However, I did grow up watching more Kong movies as a kid as it’s catered more to American audiences. I saw the 1976 and 1986 movies of him as a child. King Kong Lives actually made me cry at the end as a kid. I saw the 2005 movie in the theater. I frequented Universal Studios Hollywood many times and would see Kong every time I took the tram tour. I would see a Kong sign at the CityWalk. It’s tough for me to choose. Can I just say I’m on both teams or I’m neutral? I did order hats from Redbubble which says Team Godzilla and Team Kong which both arrived on the same day. I’ll wear a Godzilla shirt with a Team Kong hat. Or I’ll wear a Kong shirt with a Team Godzilla hat. I have their 2021 figures standing next to each other on top of a shelf in my room. If you put a gun on my head and I had to choose only one, then it’s probably Kong. He does have the better personality. He’s a nice guy. He didn’t want to see those other apes enslaved and getting beaten. He also can connect with a human girl. If both existed in the real world, I would rather have Kong protecting me than Godzilla. I think you could at least rationalize with Kong. While Godzilla could go berserk and kill every living person in the world. Godzilla is the more powerful ally to have. Who wouldn’t want him as your protector? He has an atomic breath that Kong lacks. He’s bigger and stronger. He heals faster. He can live and fight underwater. But it may come with a price if you don’t know how to control him. Kong has a conscience. He’s easier to control. And I believe it’s easier to be friends with Kong. I could eat bananas and smoke weed with Kong. We’d share laughs together and we share the same taste in hot blonde white women. While Godzilla would literally smoke me with his atomic blast. I thought about the late Koko the gorilla that could do sign language. Godzilla x Kong being more of a Kong movie like Godzilla vs. Kong was makes a good prep for the next Planet of the Apes movie. I thought when Godzilla charged at Kong in Egypt, it was a dick move by him. Kong wasn’t looking to fight and where’s Godzilla’s gratitude after Kong saved Godzilla’s life against Mechagodzilla from 4 years earlier as GvK was set in 2024 and GxK is set in 2028? But I did grin when Godzilla performed a suplex on Kong. That was fun. And I did enjoy Kong using Suko as a weapon. It’s the campy and super cheesy Showa era done in modern times. It’s pretty obvious Godzilla would destroy Kong in a straight up fight but that doesn’t mean I enjoy Godzilla more as an actual *character* with multiple layers to his personality. It’s like Batman v Superman. I’m a Batman fan all the way. But I know he has no shot at beating Superman unless he had Kryptonite gas as seen in the 2016 movie. If Superman wanted to kill Batman, he would use his red lasers and Bruce would instantly be dead. Even in the good Godzilla movies from ‘54 or -1, what complex personality did Godzilla ever have? Yeah, it’s probably Team Kong for me or at least during the last two MonsterVerse movies. But I do prefer Godzilla slightly more overall since I’m one of those guys who grew up loving dinosaurs as a kid. Now if I had to choose between watching let’s say Godzilla Minus One or King Kong (2005)? I would choose KK05. That Peter Jackson movie might be over 3-hours but it’s highly rewatchable. Good thing I like both Godzilla and Kong, so I don’t really care. It’s like flipping a coin. I’m not a one-sided, one-dimensional fanboy. Enjoy them all. I enjoyed Sega and Nintendo when they went at it in the 90s. I’m also a big fan of Mechagodzilla and he’s kicked Godzilla’s ass several times in previous movies. Mechagodzilla has defeated Godzilla the most among G’s opponents. People making a big deal on how a Godzilla film finally won an Oscar but King Kong films already won four of them. And the original 1933 King Kong film is considered one of the top 100 greatest films according to AFI back in 1998 and the updated list in 2007. Oscar Wins - King Kong (1976): 1 King Kong (2005): 3 Godzilla Minus One (2023): 1 Wikipedia about King Kong (1933) - The film became inspiration for other similar monster films like Mighty Joe Young (1949) and Godzilla (1954). RKO theatrically re-released King Kong for the last time in 1956. Gojira means gorilla 🦍 and whale 🐋. No Godzilla without the inspiration from King Kong. It’s Kong who is the OG and Godzilla being the copycat. During the 1960s, Godzilla was not as popular as King Kong even in Japan. Hence, why Kong defeated Godzilla in the 1962 movie. I grew up watching the original King Kong 1933 movie which got me love him and Godzilla. My favorite animated series on King Kong are Kong The Animated series and the Skull Island series on Netflix. Did I mention Kong The Animated series has a badass theme intro. It would've been cool to the series cross over with Godzilla the animated series in an animated movie.

I respectfully disagree regarding the 2nd fight in Godzilla vs. Kong. I do not think Kong submitted, but rather he could not get up given he bad he was beaten and what was going on with his heart. It looks like Godzilla just left him before facing MechaGodzilla as if I he were saying "I am done here."

Disappointed to not see a mention of King Kong Escapes nor an in depth mention revisit of Kong 1976 or King Kong Lives… Cheesy as those are, anyone growing up in the 1980s remembers those films fondly.

I’m going to hold out ranking Skull Island since I need to rewatch it again. I did watch the first 10 minutes and it makes a lot more sense after seeing Monarch. Here’s my problem with Godzilla x Kong: I didn’t think Godzilla had one BADASS moment in the movie. He became Barbie pink Evolved and what happens when he tried blasting Skar King? He missed while Skar King became Sonic the Hedgehog and did the spin dash around Rio. I wanted Godzilla to be the big hero at the end but he became mostly a diversion for Shimo. Suko saved the day? SMH. Honestly, Godzilla hasn’t kicked ass since KOTM 2019 after he became Burning Godzilla. He has played second fiddle to Kong’s journey in the last two MV movies. Add the fact Godzilla can be quite a dick! That’s ok for me considering Michael Jordan is my idol and he’s a dick. And I prefer Tony Stark over Steve Rogers but I know Tony was a dick. Who decided to pick a fight with Kong in the 2021 movie while Kong was in chains? Godzilla. Who wanted to pick a fight in the latest one? Godzilla. He’s a major asshole in these movies. He doesn’t want to team up or work with anybody. It’s dick move after dick move from Big G. Add the fact Godzilla is an interesting monster to follow with interesting designs, but he’s not necessarily an interesting character. I honestly didn’t understand Godzilla killing the MUTOs in 2014? They were a couple trying to take care of their unhatched babies and were not trying to hurt anybody. Rooting for Godzilla is rooting for Biff Tannen to beat up George and Marty McFly. He’s a big bully and asshole. Kong needed to carry the movie once again because Godzilla has as much personality as Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. He’s a big brute who kills. Maybe that’s why the human characters suck in most of his movies because Godzilla is really a bore and can’t carry a movie for most of his movies. This doesn’t change the fact that I still enjoy Godzilla. I own two versions of him as a toy: Art Spirits 3.5” G89 and Hiya 7.4” G21. I just wanted more out of Godzilla in GxK. I didn’t want him to be another supporting character to Kong like he was in the previous one but it was predictable he would be. Kong is the superior movie character with the superior personality. Dan Murrell did this epic ranking list of 45 movies between Godzilla and Kong you should check out. It was fairly predictable which one would go No. 1. Actually his top 2 were fairly predictable and I wouldn’t argue against Minus One and Gojira. But I was a little surprised he ranked King Kong 2005 at 17th. MonsterVerse Ranking (w/o Skull Island) 1.
