The Christmas I received HeMan, Skeletor and Castle Greyskull was a very special time in my life. These toys where so much different from anything I had played with in the past. I especially loved reading the mini comics, so I understood who the new character was, when I received them as gifts. Plus the accessories where bigger and didn't get lost as easy. It seemed with each new offering of figures that the excitement got stronger. Great Video and thank you for your time and effort in producing them.

My dad used to have a cinefilm camera and captured the moment in 1985 when I unwrapped a curiously big box on Christmas day to discover Castle Greyskull inside. I was four years old and couldn't believe what I was holding in my hands. It was the happiest, most vivid memory from my early childhood and it's caught on film. I'm 37 now and haven't seen the footage since I was around 20. I was suffering a bit from the 'coming of age blues' in my late teens and my dad helped me through it somewhat by dusting off the cinefilm projector, sitting me down and playing the Christmas day 1985 footage. Of all the techniques that helped me through those dark times, psychiatry, books, meditation...this was the one thing that connected me back to my own path. Thanks He-Man ha ha.

Really good video. I absolutely loved the Masters of the Universe as a child. I saved every last penny I got from my pocket money, doing chores and mowing lawns to buy new he-man toys every month. Sadly I ended up giving them all to my brother when I grew out of them in the late 80's. They would have been worth a lot today if I'd kept them.

Hello again - thanks for another trip down memory lane. Between my younger brother and I, we acquired He-Man, Skeletor, Castle Greyskull, Trapjaw, Beastman, Man-at-Arms, Beast-Man, Man-E-Faces and probably a few others I've forgotten. I loved the mini-comic books that came with each figure, and the even the smell of the Masters of the Universe line was sort of unique (maybe it was something in the plastic, paint or boxes). Having said all that, I always had an issue with the quality - while the molding was great, the lack of articulation always struck me as weird, weapons/grips were terrible, and Castle Greyskull itself felt like an underscaled facade, nay a FARCE of the fantastic artwork on the box. Consequently, my brother and I would roleplay Masters of the Universe as SATIRE, where nothing ever went to plan or worked properly, and looking back I wouldn't have it any other way: it was like a premonition of Robot Chicken, all those years ago!

I'm 16 and I love Masters of The Universe. I've seen all the 80's cartoon, the 90's cartoon and the 2002 reboot along with the new Netflix She-Ra series. I own quite a lot of the classics line by Mattel too. My intrest in the series started when I was 4 and my dad gave me his old figures from the 80's and he had quite a lot too. My favourite characters from MOTU are Man-at-arms,The sourceress and Skeletor.

They definitely were toys like no other,so yes if I can get my hands on any of them now,I sure will do. (The original Transformers figures from the 80's is another collection im gonna try find too. Great nostalgic video by the way. 🙂

Greatest toys ever made. Very versatile. Easy to play with. Durable. The mini-comics were key at the beginning. The backstory was very cool. The cartoon ruined the backstory and turned the bad guys into comedic characters, but it was still a good cartoon. Merman was my favorite thanks mostly to Battle in the Clouds, the greatest of the mini-comics.

I know that Mattel said She-Ra killed He-man because they thought boys didn’t think it was cool anymore because of a girl head lead but it’s not true and probably should haven’t mentioned it in the video. Like you I loved them both a lot. Going back on the memory train I remember that everyone was looking for something outside of Star Wars. It was the beginning of a boom so LOTS of other cartoon selections killed it

Filmation's use of a moral tag at the end of each episode originated with the Filmation "Shazam!" live action show beginning in 1974. My friend Jackson Bostwick (Capt. Marvel) originated the idea. Filmation used the end moral tag for many of their shows ever since.

I have never forgotten getting Castle Greyskull in 1985. My very first two figures ever were Battle Armor He-Man/Skeletor I had to remove the castle from my collection in 1995 to move. In 2015 my mom found one in a resale shop. I got it for Christmas again 30 years later. And the collecting began. Minus I believe ti is called "Monstroid" I have all the original figures from the lines (Screw the Meteorbs or dino beasts") I have 2/3 of Etnernia. I did retain some of the figures from the 2002 series, and have been collecting the Revelations lines with a ferver. But the big collection is the re-issues of the last two years. Above the rest, I am going after these. They remain in their boxes, and are hung on the wall or shelved. And it was great to see that green skinned sorceress placed into this line recently. So both non-cartoon and cartoon figures are being done. Perhaps this will be the spot to get figures for Catra. Evil Seed, etc.

I'm a comic book artist and creator. I've always been into Thor, Hulk, batman ect. And I currently have over 70 characters of my own creation. But long before I was into marvel or DC it was all about He-man and the masters of the universe. I remember waking up on Christmas mornings still half asleep, bumping into walls as I made my way to the living room like a 5 yr old whino because my sister woke me up at like 5am screaming "Santa came!" Once I entered the living room my eyes would clear and light up brighter than any bulb (glass) on the tree. All the latest motu action figures would be lined up and castle grayskull and snake mountain fully assembled. And the cookies and milk we left Santa would be gone. Just a swallow of milk and a few cookie crumbs left. The excitement, and surprise was so overwhelming that our squeals of joy would wake our parents. Lol. Id play with them until id fall asleep on the floor in a nest of action figures, swords, shields and vehicles. I grew up and left all of those toys behind. But now I'm a husband, father and recently became a grand dad. I've started collecting the entire motu original vintage toyline. I have them in display cases, mounted on the wall like fine art because they represented such a wonderful time and a large part of my child hood. Thanks mom and dad. I love you

Great video as always. MOTU was my toyline growing up (other than Lego and a few other things, it was the only one I really collected). I've been a life-long, hard-core fan and still am to this day. The first two waves and the early "barbarian" mythos (there was no Prince Adam, originally) have always been my main love. As much as I respect Princess of Power as part of the universe, I felt it watered the line down, making it too girly and young-child friendly, and with that and more gimmicky later figures it eventually killed the line, in it's original form at least. To note though, even though Roger Sweet is mentioned, it was Mark Taylor who came up with the earliest designs of what would evolve into He-Man, Skeletor etc. (from stories he created in his youth). It's always been debated, but Sweet formed the "MOTU" concept of these but in many's opinions also swept up the claim to having created these many characters (Taylor developed his early ideas into all of the characters of the first and most of the second wave); Taylor is the 'true' creator of Masters of the Universe.

Also I developed an unhealthy obsession with muscles. Luckily by the time I was old enough to do anything about that obsession I had already moved on from He-Man.
