History of the 6666 Ranch Horses - Somewhere West of Wall Street episode - 2. In this episode Red Steagall explores the history of the 6666 ranch and it's legendary horses. Red starts out with a bit of old west history about the 6666 ranch. Red also has a great visit with Dr. Glenn Blodgett he is the horse division manager and leads the team of veterinary staff members. He oversees all of the veterinary and reproductive services provided at the 6666 Ranch, as well as all horse breeding and management responsibilities. Dr. Blodgett began working for the Burnett Ranches which includes the famed 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas in 1982, and under his direction and management the ranch has a state-of-the-art Equine Breeding and Production Facility. During his tenure, the ranch has become an industry leader in equine embryo transfer and artificial insemination, consistently producing and developing some of the most highly recognized racing and western performance American Quarter Horses worldwide. The ranch has earned numerous awards and distinctions, including becoming an AQHA All Time Leading Breeder of Performance Horses and Race Money-Earners and Winners. In 1993, the ranch won the prestigious AQHA Best of Remuda Award. Blodgett’s professional contributions are immense and encompass both veterinary medicine and the horse industry. He has been committed to the betterment of the American Quarter Horse breed and steadfast in his involvement dating back to 1991 when he began serving Texas as an AQHA Director. He has served the AQHA in many capacities and in 2012 was elected to AQHA’s Executive Committee. Blodgett has been recognized by numerous organizations for his many contributions to the equine industry. Singer, songwriter, poet, author and cowboy Red Steagall, hosts his award winning weekly TV show Red Steagall Is Somewhere West of Wall Street since 2014. I’ve had the please of attending the ranch rodeo held every year during the Fort Worth Stock Show. It was a lot of fun to watch the teams of ranch hands from various ranches including the 6666 compete in all sorts of rodeo events including wild cow milking. 🤠 Thanks Red for this video of the 6666 ranch. Great job.

Enjoyed the program. I am a history nut so I am a big fan of the Burnett family. There is no way to calculate the contribution to the quarterhorse. Tom Burnett his daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter had and have a talent for judging a horse. The family has given millions to charity down through the years. Tom Burnett made a reputation for being a playboy. But in the depression years never a friend or cowboy or kid went hungry or ragged after meeting Tom Burnett. He gave away stallions to friends that became foundation horses for the breed.

Really enjoyed this, 72 years old and miss the old days. The cowboys now don't know one end from another on a cow just maybe they do on a horse.

Yellowstone needed a large ranch to film on, and 6666 Ranch needed some money, so they got together and made a baby. It wasn't enough money to save the ranch, though, so it was sold last year, which seems to have killed the _Yellowstone: 6666_ spinoff that was planned.
