Because the team in Young Justice IS the Teen Titans. They just switched it around to avoid confusion, with people thinking it was a reboot or something.

I don't cover every little thing, since there honestly isn't time. By leaving some information out, I feel like if someone does chose to read the comics, they can discover things that I might not have talked about.

TV shows, Movies, and Cartoons tend to use the most popular ones just like the Xmen always have Wolverine and storm even though they are not from the original team. Bat Man and his villains have also had different versions but the most popular ones get screen time. if you ever seen Batman brave and the bold it mostly shows the 60s era characters that younger people may have never heard of

Neither Was Hot Spot, Mas Y Menos were only members for a single year and were originally created for the show, Argent was in the Atoms titans, not the core titans, Koles actual membership remains debatable, for a large part its agreed he was not a member, There was no Wildebeest in the comics, there was however a character called "Baby Wildebeest", Thunder and Lightning never joined the team in the comics, Neither did Tram, Herald was only a part of Titans L.A, not the Teen Titans, Timmy Tantrum was made for the show and never made it into the comics same with Teether and Melvin, although Melvin was kinda based off a Doom Patrol member called Dorothy Spinner who was a mentally ill girl who could bring her imaginary friends to life, Killowatt was in the Team Titans and never made it into the Teen Titans and Bushido once again was only in Titans L.A. The comics were very different to the show, in the comics there were I think close to 100 members of the Titans, the most famous group is from a comic called "The New Teen Titans" created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, again, very different from the show, at its peak it consisted of Raven, Starfire, Nightwing, Jericho, Donna Troy, Changeling and Cyborg. The original team consisted of Kid Flash (Wally West), Aqua Lad (Garth), Robin (Dick Grayson) and Wonder Girl (Donna Troy).

Honestly, this is about 50 years of history I'm going over. There's no way to do a "quick" summary.

I just meant like a summary of what the main teen titans are and their traits. (So sorry if I am asking stupid stuff, comic book newb here)

Again, that's impossible, the only consistent trait is that its a team of (usually) teenage superheroes. The Teen Titans constantly changed, as did their traits, what they used, who they worked with and so on and so fourth, they're one of those Rare groups that can be and should be interpreted in a million and one ways. Like, just adding one member to the group changed the whole team dynamic and taking one member away too soon could ruin the whole group.
