Ramanujan used God as a metaphor for the Existence on the universe. The “thoughts” represent the many different mathematical equations that construct the universe or as he calls it “God”. Ramanujans belief in God was actually a lot different compared to most. It was a lot more abstract and unknown.

Ramanujan used to say that he used to open the door inorder to communicate with his Devi named NAMAGIRI. That doesn't exactly mean there is extra terrestrial being communicating with RAMANUJAN but simply mean opening the other dimensions of human consciousness where there is a Ocean of knowledge available like a library. Because the person is highly devotional & spiritual he phrased the sentence according to his temper.

Instead of debating alien, credit and another (this video) mere westerner's so-called-genius perspective, people from around the world need to see Ramanujan as it is, not as what the media tell you what to believe, that is simply a ridiculous thing you would allow to yourself, yet didnt admit it.

Grothendieck is Einstein of math of XX century. Study Grothendieck and study Ramanujan, you will realize that Ramanujan was different, he didn't have the stuff that takes it to be the architect of completely new mathematics, without emphasis for bells and whistles, only the essential building blocks of mathematical universe. Ramanujan is all bells and whistles.

@@u.v.s.5583 First of all, Grothendieck was a good mathematician, thats all. But Ramanujam was having a way higher IQ(sadly no one examined him for his IQ). He could solve 14 steps of calculus in 1 move in a few seconds. Not only that, his theorems are still trying to get decoded by today's mathematicians and is getting proved now and then. The reason they had to decode it was that Ramanujam derived it all in his mind. So now you know who is smarter and greater.

@@TheEternalTruth14 Hardy: Ramanujan’s theory of primes was vitiated by his ignorance of the theory of functions of a complex variable. It was (so to say) what the theory might be if the Zeta-function had no complex zeros. His method depended upon a wholesale use of divergent series… That his proofs should have been invalid was only to be expected. But the mistakes went deeper than that, and many of the actual results were false. He had obtained the dominant terms of the classical formulae, although by invalid methods; but none of them are such close approximations as he supposed.

channel lol no, he was carrying his Devi idol wherever he traveled. Hinduism isn’t about imagining a god or aspiring heaven! It’s about “using” certain idols and geometrically built temples and certain structures as a medium to connect and perceive the universal consciousness that we call “Brahman” in Hinduism, or you can just say “universal energy” or “source of creation”. It’s nothing to do with “God” or “aliens”.

Sreedev .s it’s not about being a devotee! Did you even read my comment? I clearly said it has nothing to do with “God” or “alien”, when there is no concept of “God”, whose “devotee” are you talking about? Obviously he was a genius! There are many geniuses who invented so many things, that is a fact! Here we are talking about Ramanujam’s claim of his idol giving him the grace, this is not new to our culture, may be you haven’t read our history or maybe you chose to believe only the history rewritten by east India company and want to deny our Vedic history where yogis like “Sushruta (father of Surgery)” and “Aryabatta” (who invented zero”, have invented everything they did “only” through Vedic education, and not by going to modern science classes! It’s a fact that they had knowledge of science, but how? Through yoga, I’m not saying it! They themselves say it if you read their works! Now it’s your choice, you believe them or don’t! I choose to believe them. It’s about what they’re saying, not what I’m saying!

Namagiri thayar is the name given to the consort of Swamy Ugra Narasimha of Namakkal town in Tamilnadu. Namagiri has a separate sannidhanam (sanctum) in the temple. Her beauty is breathtaking and I was stunned the first time I saw Jaganmata Namagiri in the dim light. Her prowess of bestowing expertise in ganita (maths) is being testified by the many students and business people who place their account books on her feet before the accounting year. Ramanujan used to shout "Namagiri , Namagiri " in the middle of a puzzle and was reportedly immediately rewarded . She was his Kula Devi ( The Devi of his clan). I welcome people all over the world to visit Namakkal and have Her darshan.

What a silly way to take a genius mind and turn into some kind of cosmic creation. Humans have produced minds of such incredible calibre multiple times in history...and if you look into Ramanujan's history of education later in life, he was corrected and led by many other great minds to complete his equations. Like all great mathematicians/scientists he learns and builds from his mistakes. This is not cosmic voo-doo...this is an incredible understanding of a subject the rest of us could only dream of.
