This tip will teach you how to hit longer drives guaranteed. To do this, I want you to take the 1 bucket challenge.
This means you're not just going to try this 3 times and quit. You're going to commit to the challenge of hitting 1 bucket of golf balls following the instructions in this tip. If so, you'll hit longer drives ... guaranteed.
When you make any change to your swing you can't expect to instantly start hitting amazing shots in the first few balls. Sometimes this happens but most changes take enough repetitions so you get used to it. This is when you see the result.
Unfortunately, too many people want instantly results so they try something 3 times and go right back to their old swing. What if ball number 4 was the one where you saw the result? This is why I want you to take the 1 bucket challenge.
Everyone wants to hit longer drives so give this tip a try. I guarantee you will hit longer drives. Once you do, keep swinging this way forever.

What finally clicked for me was thinking back to my baseball days. Every home run I hit out of the park I was always amazed at how effortless my swing felt...almost like I barely swang. I took those memories along with these tips/lessons and applied them to the golf swing and "voila" it was like flipping a switch!
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
For sure. Baseball and golf. Very similar except golf has the ball stationary so you will want to hit it due to human nature. If you get ready to hit a baseball your arms would be relaxed, wrists hinged and weight loaded into the back foot. So you already know how to do that. Just coil the shoulders a little more and extend the left arm a little and you've got it.

Well Paul - I took you up on your one bucket challenge and wow! I did hit some amazing shots on the driving range and now it’s starting to show up on the course when I play. I purchased your Body Swing program in 2018 and your frequent tips remind me of what I should be doing - so thank you , thank you , thank you. I am a 71 yr old golfer whose had back surgery , have two achy knees and neck problems - and with your instruction I’ve been able to keep my GHIN Handicap Index in the single digits. You are the best golf instructor I have ever come across in my 60 plus years of playing golf. Thank you for everything you do for us amateurs and I recommend your Body Swing program to anyone who will listen.

Very good. Thanks for the support and promo to others. I appreciate it. Now you've seen that loosening up works be sure to keep thinking this way into the future as you work through The Body Swing. There will be times you need to work on and feel your arms only to turn them back off once you master the position you are working on. With my technique you should be able to keep on swinging great long into the future as this doesn't require strength to hit the ball well. Keep up the good work.

Hi Paul, from snowy Canada. I was not to excited about your tutorial, but after going over second time, I paid more attention to your preach. I start a dry practice with no ball and thinks start to come together like a puzzle. I'm 68, 5.4, 175 Lbs. My average distance on 20 shots with 7 iron was around 137 ish. After 20 minutes practicing the loosy goosey wrist and touching my neck with the club, miracles start showing up from nowhere. All this happened today after work at a simulator. Now I'm speechless and want to send hundreds of thank you. Check this out... My average distance, after 15-20 minutes practice, in 20 shots went up to 151. I could not believe how effective is the buddy swing. I never ever hit over 160 my 7 iron and today more then 3 times over 170 I'm a new ME and can't wait to go back to the simulator with one club only to master the moves. Thank you very much. Your videos are on my view list and for sure I will spread the word about you.

Winter is the best time to practice. Glad you are working on it. 7 iron at 137 is terrible. This tells you the hinge (wrists) is locked so I am glad you found me. Doing the drill loosened you up. A loose hinge can only be so loose. So keep seeing your wrists as a hinge not as wrists. It's a weird, loose, out of control feeling. As you see, it took about 15-20 mins to get used to it. So with the hinge loosened up all you had to do was apply the body (which you did). Now, you are seeing the results. 150 with a 7 iron is easily doable. 160 is your goal. I hit it 170. So 10 yards less than me is fantastic. If you can get it to 170 in the future even better. Set goals. 150 is your first. Then 160. By the time the season rolls around it will be an incredible change. Your yardages will be all messed up. I say about 10 rounds to dial them in. Once dialed in I see a great season for you. Thanks for the promo to others. I appreciate all the help I can get. FYI - I grew up in Canada. I started the golf school at Angus Glen. Was there for 6 years before moving to the US.

One of the misunderstandings about being loose I had at first was feeling that the club was light causing erratic shots everywhere. When I got to understand that feeling the weight of the club meant you are not picking up the club with the hands but using the shoulders to move and turn the club back around the body I understood how centrifugal force works in the golf swing. It's probably a misunderstanding that others at first experience in trying out your technique. Glad you stress the weight of the club pulling the arms around the body. Another helpful hint I got from one of your followers was to start at set up feeling your weight on the instep of the right foot in order to stay in the barrel and avoid swaying off the ball in the backswing. Keeping the knee slightly bent inward helps to do that.

Paul, as a long-time Ignition Golf subscriber and Body Swing video owner your teachings have helped me greatly. I knew that loose wrists were one of your swing mantras but had “lost the lesson” somewhere along the way. So, I took One-Bucket Challenge. Viola! The secret sauce of the golf swing!! In my one-bucket session I concentrated on nothing but relaxed, loose wrists. Using my SC200, I gained approximately 30 yards and 8-10 mph of swing speed. And, as you say, it was effortless. Drives soaring down the range dead straight. My next round I hit a personal record 11 of 13 fairways, and 13 greens in regulation. I think one reason I never fully committed to loose wrists was fear that the clubhead would not square up. On the contrary, if you are totally committed to looseness and completely “let go”, the clubhead squares up automatically as if by magic. Just as you promised: longer and straighter than I’ve ever hit it in my life. I am now fully committed to making loose wrists my primary swing thought for life. Thank you Paul!!

So glad you took the challenge and see that looseness is the key. That is a big gain. Yes, you need to let it go. If you do you will be amazed at how dead straight the ball flies (as you saw). You need to keep doing this and gain the trust so you always do it. Big things to come for you into the future. Please tell others to take the challenge too. Thanks.

Took the one bucket challenge today and was amazed how just thinking about hinging and unhinging my wrists got my shaft to near parallel at the top and was hitting high,straight drives about 85-90% of time effortlessly. Hi Paul; I saw you give this tip long ago & obviously bears repeating but it seems that for beginners & high handicappers that it's the ever present great practice swing & lousy real swing that's created by the dreaded hit impulse just from seeing the ball sitting there. Tho only remedy I find is to not make the ball your focus. Most people believe that point A of the swing is the top of the backswing & point B is the ball when point B should be the follow through or at least after impact & the letting the ball get in the way. For me, that's the biggest problem with my swing. Just as you say, swing the club, not hit the ball. If I could play with my eyes closed, I'd be a scratch player. I also use your 2/3 drill by taking a full swing but hitting the ball 2/3 of the normal distance. That really makes my swing smoother & was 1 of my favorite of your tips. Be well.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the hit impulse (human nature) is there. This is why I said to swing looser than ever and do it for one bucket. Too many people will try to for 3 balls and quit. Need time to looser up and actually try it. Point B is the in the follow through for sure. Been teaching a precise ending point for 31 years now literally since lesson 1 I taught backwards. Sounds like you get it. Keep doing it daily in practice swings until you know no other way to swing.

So it's new and different. Don't be so loose you are flopping all over the place. Also, do daily practice swings until you get used to it. This is new and different. You will want to go back to hitting because it's comfortable. Doing daily practice swings will get you used to it super fast. When you go to take it to the course swing no more than 50%.

Yeah, this is terrific stuff and it SHOULD have been 1st nature to us amateurs, not 2nd because we do or have applied this theory to so many other activities (baseball, tennis, hammering a nail)... relaxed arms with loose hinges. My swing is now much slower because I want to feel the weight of the club head throughout the entire swing, which does allow me to relax. I know when I hit a good shot before I see the ball because I now FEEL the club head has released past impact and my arms are fully extended. Practicing without a ball, for ME, is as important now than with a ball in front of me. Thank you sir, again!

If you are tight and need to work on hitting driver longer and straighter then I would be doing 3-5 loose swings on every tee to get the feeling in your mind. Then fairly quick step up and apply this very same loose feeling too your tee shot. Too many people take way too long so they tighten up and start overthinking things. Give this a try and see how you do.

Hey Paul. I have been watching your videos for a couple years now and have committed to this "loose" feeling and it is a lot of fun when you really start tagging it. I do have a couple of questions. 1 - Does this exact feeling apply to irons /all clubs as well? 2 - No matter how loose I am and how hard I try and fire my hips I cannot seem to get too far above 100 using the radar device you use in your other video. I cannot for the life of me figure how you get that club head speed that you get (was it 118mph?). I do struggle with early extension a bit but I am far better at staying in posture than I ever have been. Any idea where I can look to get at least to 110 mph? Thanks!!
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
Well I have never seen anyone actually be as loose as I am so that would be an area to start. Work on hinging and rehinging constantly. This means daily. Work on lag daily. This will help unlock the wrists: Lag Secret: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gcBxnZVz0J62n5c.html Drill 1: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kNZopryTsbu4f4k.html Drill 2: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gZNpp6ycrJmuoJc.html Drill 3:kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9KaatiS1JaVe3k.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qd-Ki6yqr7SsXY0.html Keep in mind I am also using the ground to help fire my lower body. This is the missing piece between pros and ams: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r8dmlMZep9uymJ8.html I explain this and the person never works on it. Get this and break 100mph. Every pro does this. Ams do not.

@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
There are so many ways to use the ground. The latest is bump left just before you take it back. Load right as soon as possible. As you near the top back to the left and fire. The problem is time and experience level of the golfer. If you are loading right then back to the left the average person is going to come over the top because their whole body is going to lean left. In the .25 seconds it takes to get to impact there is no way they are going to do this move. So here is what I like to do. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gdFmZsKXvrmlfZs.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fc57pZmKnbSsd6M.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mM6litN1kpfMpps.html So first get the concept of what you are even trying to do. Get it working. Then as you get better you can check the subtleties of the move. For years I just did this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kM95lbeIlpq7kac.html

I usually hit driver really well and irons poorly. Did this drill and irons were hitting so pure but slightly pulling them all. However driver became a weak slice. Any thoughts?
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
Great to hear from you. If you are slicing the face is open. You need to do the roll over drill and get it hooking. I have tons of tips on this just do a search for them. Hook it for about 10 shots in a row. This will speed up the release and unlock the wrists. At this point it is all body. The pulled irons is still a little arms. Wrists are working. You need to tilt your body more right in the downswing. This should be happening when fire the lower body but just manually tilt right. This will get you behind the ball more in the downswing which will get the path swinging from the inside. Again, do a search but this time search for path or over the top tips. There are tons of them on the IG site.

If you are hitting it to high you are adding loft. There are numerous ways this can occur. You can even be using the wrong shaft. It did a tip on hitting it too high here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hsCbdbNjlsi0eok.html If you came to me for lessons I would have you roll it from the top and hook it until you can hook about 10 in a row. Stand up. Extend your lead arm out in from of you. If so, that will be extended with no tension. This tips was just to generally loosen people up. I do want you to set the backswing then super loose coming down and through. So extend but not your arms at address. Coil your body and your arms will move.. After about halfway back lift them up to set the top (wrists hinged). Then you are hitting it by uncoiling. So see the pieces and work on them separately. Work on the arm unit. Hinge and rehinge on purpose until you get rid of any slice spin. Once you get that you are moving on your your body to hit the ball. Body Swing Concept: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e56pbM123r-XZZ8.html

I've been trying to do this swing for months but the ball just doesn't go very far but it does go straighter.

Took me 2 years + but it was the best thing I did. I practice once a week and hit it straight, far and without soreness later. I also get comments about how my swing looks. I had to change my grip and it took a year to figure out the whipping effect. I’d encourage you to do a drill where you stop at the top and then hit. But his drills and instructions are spot on.

So do a full swing. Your swing is too short. Loose and short is not going to do it. Longer (parallel) and fully through to the follow through will. Watch: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l8p_i7mjvJunfHk.html

@@paulwilsongolf yes I think that may be the cause. I'll try to get the club parallel at the top before swinging down.

Great. No matter how loose you are that short swing will not give you time to get the speed. This is why I call it a young person's swing. I takes me every ounce of energy I have to get power with a short swing. Longer and looser now I can swing at 80% and get the same power. This I can do for life.

After slicing all these years, I would rather not mess with grip and let it hook for while then dial grip back.

You can do that. You actually fire the body to straighten it out. So when you are ready switch to body.

You can start with what you want but as you keep hitting amazing drives you will want to hit 100 balls then every ball forever.

Caught myself tensing up during my last round of golf. So on the last hole, short par 4, I took my hybrid 3 wood and just swung loose in hopes that I wouldn't hook or slice it.... It went dead straight about 240 yards. Ended up chipping in for Birdie and winning my match. I don't want to go back to those tense swings, so at home, strictly loose, easy tempo practice swings. I'll try to remember your hat when I'm on the course. 🏌🏿‍♂️

Very good. We all get tight and want to hit harder. Glad you swung loose and pulled off the win. Great feeling. Be content with what you've got.
