Today Jim is hitching up the team of draft horses and they are headed out to spread some manure!
Watch our videos to learn about draft horses- horse logging, horse farming, and horse training! Jim uses Belgian, Percheron, and Suffolk horses to do work on the farm and in the woods. He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

I loved hearing Ken eating while you harnessed Baron up. I don't know why, but I've always loved hearing horses chewing!😘 Now that was good backing into the barn that Baron and Bill did!!! William sure did an excellent job stacking firewood in your shed...got a glimpse as you drove the horses by! Good work William!!!👍

Apart from all the extraneous farm noises, that was an interesting video, Jim. I loved the sounds of horses chewing, the rattles and clangs of farm equipment and the occasional flatulence sounds from the horses !! The only human sounds heard were Jim's commands to the horses !! A very different, but interesting, all the same !! Thanks Jim, great job !!

Baron seemed to be a bit worked up before being, well... worked up. Maybe he just had a lot of pent up energy? He's getting better and better, tho. He and Bill are turning out to be a really good team. I love the tranquility of this video with no talking, but I think I prefer Jim's talking/explaining and Brenda's commentary. But I understand that y'all get busy and can't always take the time it requires. By the way, that was a pretty steamy load of 💩. 😉 Love you guys! Keep it up! 🤩😊

Jim, love your content as usual. The horses look amazing, but a tiny thing really. I would love you to drop the side check rein and make it a little longer for all the suffolks. Baron was happy until you put up the side check and it seems as if its pulling his head up higher than his natural headset wants to be. He immediately starts fighting the bit, trying to put his tongue over and messing about. He looks uncomfortable. I think the colts do the same. In the uk side checks are loose for show or not used atall. We would use them on a figit purely to stop them dropping the head and getting caught on his pole or his pals harness, but it would still be loose with the horse at rest. Just a though. The Suffolk horse society in the uk might also be interested in a sperm donation. Not sure of their criteria for inclusion but the breed is critically endangered here and your US suffolks seem very useful and more compact than our ones.

William did a fantastic job stacking the wood. Curiosity..do the horses have buckets of water in their stall? If not do they just not require a lot of water? When hanging on the reins, are you holding them back a bit? I'm curious how much you have to hold them back or is it to keep them together? Just love watching your family.
@JChaos1120
@JChaos1120 10 ай бұрын
No, he doesn't have buckets in their stall. He takes them or lets them go to the water trough a couple times a day, or any time they walk past it. Horses don't need a LOT of water, but they do need some, so he tries to ensure they stay hydrated. If there were buckets in the stall, they wouldn't necessarily drink more, but they would make a mess of it, waste feed, get hay in it, etc, and it'd just be extra work for Jim and Brenda instead of benefitting the horses.
