Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This KZfaq channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

Rick won't like hearing it, but I think these clubs (at least in the longer irons) would do wonders for his consistency in the Break 75 series. The shot dispersion with them was the most impressive thing, never mind the numbers. Seriously impressive ball striking with them, Rick

I would cut off a small part of a finger if I could get Rick to play "game improvement" irons. I love the guy but he is not a T-100 type player. I am a 2 Handicap and I play Rogue X irons. They are basically made for 25 handicappers or so. I couldn't care less. I play much, much better with these irons than some "blades". If I hear the word "workability" one more time I may jump off a bridge. It might be the dumbest concept in golf. Watch James Robinsons shot tracers. There is no "workability"...he just hits it straight.

He's got a lot of irons in the fire with videos and podcasts. And he needs to keep the programming coming to keep up his viewership, which is how he makes a living. I imagine Rick finds it difficult to find time to spend working on his game. Playing tour irons might be asking a bit much.

About a year ago I was looking for reviews and comparisons between starter clubs when I came across Rick Shiels. What I thoroughly enjoy about the reviews is how he describes the feel and also his comparison to other clubs. Living in an area with no local golf centers or testable clubs, being able to have a description of other clubs to compare really helps. So glad the H.I.T. channel is up and running, well done gentlemen.

I have to say even though I was never the best golfer in the world I always loved my Titleist irons. Still have my DCI 962 and love them to this day. In my opinion they forced me to grove a better swing and not let technology make my game better. Glad to see the new series going well. Now to get those DCI's re-shafted, don't generate the swing speed I used to. 🙂

On reviews it could be handy to see the club head speed and peak height. Hitting some shots at around the slower 80mph club head speed might help a lot of golfers that don't have as much speed as Rick (higher h/cappers). Would just give everyone a couple of benchmark stats of club performance (launch, height, carry, stopping power). Cheers, enjoy all your vids.

I fall right into that zone that you talked about, Rick, as an 11 hcp. I'm now really excited and curious to try out the new Titleist T200 irons! The fact that the peak height was a bit higher than the P790 is awesome and will hopefully hold firmer greens a bit better.

And they're way too strong lofted. Unless you're a slow swinger that need help with distance, look elsewhere or your gonna need 5 wedges to fill the lower gap in the bag. The pw is 43 degrees for crying out loud!!!
@Reffitt2
@Reffitt2 4 ай бұрын
@suilegew Agreed. Too strong for me. I hit them in a sim and was carrying 9 iron 164 yards. I prefer the lofts of the T150s and T100s much more. I suppose that's why you can get the approach/gap wedge in the T200 set. Lol.
@chrisgilligan4968
@chrisgilligan4968 3 ай бұрын
@@suilegew The set does have a GW. I actually ordered my set from 5-GW instead of 4-PW. So instead of carrying a 4 iron, and a hybrid etc. Now my 5 iron goes about as well as the 3 hybrid I used to carry. There's a hair too big of a gap from my 5 iron to my 5 wood....but I don't see that coming into play very often. The T200's effectively move everything up by 1 club - but I'm getting a higher launch/peak height out of all of them, and more consistent distance on off centre hits than my old gamers. I'm not a fast swinger....but also not slow. Driver is about 100mph plus or minus on any given swing....7 iron is about 80mph.
@chrisgilligan4968
@chrisgilligan4968 3 ай бұрын
@@Reffitt2 That's crazy speed....your 9 iron swing speed must be close to 90mph....that's basically tour level speed. Of course a players distance iron wouldn't be a good fit. Would love to have that kind of speed!! lol

My heart wanted the Titleist but all the data and the feel said the Pings so thats what I went with. I recently bought the T-200 set (4i - 48 degree) with the stock AMT Red shafts. This set replaces a Honma TW747 irons set with Honma Vizard 63 gram graphite shafts. I hit the T-200's longer, by 15% every club. Shot dispersion is also tighter on the practice range. After this beneficial change to Titleist I replaced my entire woods arsenal from Tour Edge E722 to Titleist Tsi2 Driver through 5 hybrid. These are also performing better. My average score on my 6,800 yard home course has dropped 4 strokes. Surprisingly I was having trouble with the Vokey SM8 52, 56, 60 degree wedges, just too many unpredictable shots with duffs, shanks, etc. Changed to Taylormade High toe, which are working great. Also changed out the Costco Signature blade putter for a Taylormade TP DuPage mallet. A big improvement. Consistently sinking those 4 foot to 10 foot "knee knockers" with confidence. Me: 71 years old. 13 handicap. Play 3 rounds per week. Walk the course, push a trolley.

I am a 10 handicap and I say to anyone out there that has not tried these type clubs , try them , it is worth it , plenty of used sets out there now to help with cost. Thanks rick ,

I have an issue with so called “Distance” irons not being more open that they achieve this by jacking up lofts. A 160 yard 9 iron at 38.5* is essentially a standard 8 iron loft (not a 9). Cobra started this 25 years ago with their Greg Norman Oversize models. Titleist and Mizuno have historically done iron design aesthetics better the majority of all other manufacturers. However, thanks to the P790’s it’s no longer a two horse race… Love the content on this new channel Rick - keep it going. Thanks!!!

Those Titleist T200s are really sharp looking clubs. I like the thinner top line of the T200s over the P790s. Great video. Thank you for sharing. That was fun to watch

P790s came out around the same time as the 1st t series and went to go buy the 790s. They looked like my first budget set with a boxy top line. But when I put the t200 in my hand I instantly loved the look of them and still do. These new ones have me drooling🤣

Not really a fair comparison to use the P790s from six years ago. It was honestly a little jarring given the brand new P790 clubs have been in videos released just in the last few days (Micah Morris released a video yesterday) and then Rick pulls out an antique.

I just bought the Tour Edge Exotics c722 mostly because they weren’t overly delofted. I mean you get to the point from 140 in you end up having in between shots, much rather have a full swing down to 120 yards or so.

Right there with ya! I'm curious - it looks as though the sets only go from 5 - PW + AW w/ steel shafts and 6 - PW + AW w/ graphite. Any ideas/heard any advice on what to do for longer irons/additional wedges at that point?

I am in the same boat as you guys. I use old Top Flite Tour irons. I am lucky to live fairly close to a 2nd Swing Golf location. Over time I have found a 3,4, and 5 hybrid in their bargain bin. They are used, not a prestigious brand, but I like them a lot. 15 dollars was the most I paid. Two days ago I found a club I call the Abomination. A Pitching wedge hybrid that I got for 6 dollars. Lol.

@@CMCMTTTVthats what kills me, it seems like all the forgiving irons these days are for distance. I’m newer around a 16 handicap but have high swing speed. Local fitters just say here you need this forgiveness and i bomb my 7 to almost 200 with roll out….

Bought the 2nd gen T200s (2021) and I absolutely love them. The extra distance is great and I feel there is quite a bit of forgiveness even without the cavity. Very clean iron. I salivate over the t150s but I can’t justify spending more money on irons when there is nothing wrong with current set
