If Roosevelt could have had today’s media, especially social media, he would have been beside himself with joy and used it rather effectively. Luckily for us the rules have been changed to 2 terms in office. We need similar term limits on both houses of Congress. Say 3 terms for Senators, and 7 for the House of Reps. I rather arbitrarily chose those numbers because in years they are 18 years for Senators and 14 for the House of Reps. Those amounts of time are factored at 6 years per term for Senators and 2 years per term for Reps in the House. As for Governor’s time in office I believe 4 terms is plenty because their terms are 4 years each so that means they get up to 16 years.

Politicians need something big in order to destroy freedoms. 9/11 was one such excellent opportunity, which of course led to the Patriot Act. 1/6 is another that many are attempting to exploit in order to destroy "supporters of insurrection" (i.e. people who simply don't like their policies). That's the newest Reichstag attack that can be used to smear an entire group. The only good thing about the current situation (that was not the case with 9/11) is that this is more of a partisan issue, so it's harder to get things passed. With the Patriot Act, nearly all agreed, except for me and some others. From the get-go, I knew that "Axis of Evil" was a propaganda term. It was so blatant, even at the time. I mean, come on. Combine "Axis" and "Evil", and hey, now we can do whatever we want because we created an enemy. Don't get me wrong. Osama bin Laden and his group needed to be destroyed. But politicians wanted much more than that. And one side wants to exploit 1/6 to further diminish our rights. Oh, and I didn't even get into how amazingly useful the "New Flu" has been! Now, we're bringing back segregation after half a century without it, and people call out for more restrictions on freedom...for their "safety".

Care to weigh in about recent events? I think we are heading towards something big and not in a good way. They've been doing this for the last 40 yrs but now its excellorated. This period of time is much like the event that happened before WWI.

They teach it in school. I knew a couple of German students that could and did give me information about the brutalities that we had not heard about. They are aware of the brutality.

One of the documentaries from the series shows how surviving Germans were taken to concentration camps to see what had been going on behind their backs. Many of them did not want to enter the camps, but they were forced inside. What they saw horrified them. The Holocaust is still taught in schools in Germany.
