It's somehow very satisfying to see those people get their time wasted, their computers hijacked, their most sensitive data robbed, their money stolen back, spied on, doxxed, exposed, and ideally made to feel annoyed, humiliated or even terrified. I want to see their entire operation burned to the ground. If I could break their PCs for just 10 minutes or completely fry all the hardware they own permanently while bankrupting them for life, I'd do it laughing. Your videos made me a monster.

I'd like to get into a scammers domain and basically put a payload on all machines that wipes the machines clean. Imagine the confusion and frustration? Then they have to go through the entire process again, reloading all machines and having lost all victims data.

That's analogous to "Wait WTF why is breaking into a person's house not allowed if they robbed you on the street?" Crime is illegal. Period. Whether you think it's morally correct in some cases is your call, but you, as someone who isn't a government agent, have no legal authority to perform any of these actions, and thus can be prosecuted. From what I've seen though, if you at least make a tiny bit of effort to give authorities an excuse to ignore your cyber-vigilantism (such as keeping it so no unquestionable evidence of it exists) then nothing will happen to you should they find out. You _are_ doing what's indisputably the right thing, and therefore it isn't in their interests to prosecute. Though of course, that only applies to actual crime. None of what Jim has done in any of his videos is a crime to my knowledge. Uploading an RAT, though, is most definitely a crime.

Hey Jim, I've been setting up a windows 10 VM. I have all my drivers and everything configured. But my internet isn't showing up. Troubleshooter said that my network drivers aren't installed but I manually did it. Is it possible I used the wrong driver? It installed with no error

Are you using VM ware or virtual box With VM ware make sure it's a NAT internet adaptor or whatever. It should be the default. Try running it on the player and then the workstation pro. If it's virtual box make sure it's on the default stuff. Also make sure to hide the guest additions and plug-ins. For VM ware use Jim's video. For VirtualBox I found that removing and deleting (with ccleaner or alternative) the vboxtray.exe startup entry will do the trick. And also make sure to change the registry values and I also found that you need to change msinfo32 system information. I think I'll make my own video on how to set up a VM in virtual box. DM me if you want more help.

I wonder if it's possible to frame a scammer as a terrorist by uploading convincing timebomb blueprints as jpg's into their computers.

Ud be fucked in minutes, as they will / can pull ISP Logs, they will assume you are apart of the "plot" and may even assume you are the Ring Leader. You would need to be very careful doing that.

There is a way around it; it wouldn't need to be saved in your PC's hard drive, but rather a MACRO attachment to get back at them.

If you can get access to a scammer's PC, you can also open up a command prompt (in the start menu, search "cmd") and then once there, type "del C:\WINDOWS\system32" That'll instantly brick their computer. Useful if you don't have access to or don't want to use a RAT.

Far less sophisticated but when I have spare time and I get the Indian 'Microsoft support' call (got one claiming to be BT Internet the other day) I play the idiot know-nothing computer owner and fire up a VirtualBox Windows 7 image on my Mac and take ages before they get to find out they are having their time wasted. (I try to get a few choice Anglo-saxon expletives in at the end too)

That's the beauty of waiting for them to call first. They don't seem to bother with checking for VMware when they call us, only if we call them. They think they've caught us off guard :)

Learning LOTS. Esp excited to mess with so-called Microsoft Certified Professionals/Partners since I used to work with Microsoft tech support (and I was a "super sysop" on MSN -- basically a goddess). Being female, over 50 and one who tends to blither on and on ad nauseum should be fine ingredients for messing with these idjits. Thank you, Jim, for all your work in getting these guys and leading the way for noobs like me so the scambaiters' army can grow and grow.

Thanks Jim. Very valuable information.. Advantages of *early* exposing the new pop-ups: A. Results in less number of victims. B. Many scammers buy limited number of pop-up instances at high cost. We exhaust their funds quickly. C. Discourages the scam agents and hopefully they quit.
