I recently got an RPHA 70 Carbon and not only is it very quiet, but I actually find the ventilation zo be quite good. When you open the top vent, you can actually feel the air passing over your scalp and the chin vent (lever hidden inside) is great during hot weather. Overall, I'm in love with this helmet especially in comparison to the IS-17 I owned previous to it.

Great to hear you're enjoying the RPHA 70 Carbon, and thanks for letting us know how you found it! HJC have done an incredible job with taking the already strong RPHA series to the next level. How have you found the RPHA 70 Carbon for comfort?

@@Championhelmets tbh I haven't found it through you but I wish I had seen this review earlier. ;) Great job really going into detail with all the measurements. That takes all the guesswork away. As far as comfort goes it's definitely a big step up for me. The light weight and great aerodynamics make it really pleasant to ride without your head bobbing around at higher speeds. Internals wise, I bought the helm one size smaller with thinner cheek pads and they have yet to be broken in. Makes entering and exiting the helmet a bit tough but once I'm in it fits like a glove.

I have the RPHA. Contrary to whats reported in the test, I consider it a loud helmet. It really depends on your height and windscreen....Most of the noise seems to come from those 2 back vents whether they are open or closed. Also contrary to the report, I find the ventilation excellent, the airflow coming from the top vent the best of any helmet I've owned in over 30 years of riding. It is an excellent helmet despite being rather loud.
@Championhelmets
@Championhelmets 4 жыл бұрын
Numbers don't lie. It is one of the quietest helmets we've tested over the past two years. If you find this helmets loud, then you shouldn't test the others because they are significantly louder. The ventilation was ok but far from great. Others did much better. This is exactly the reason why we measure instead of giving our opinion. Thank you for your comment.

@@Championhelmets Do your tests take into account all the different variables such as rider height, windshield type, direction of wind, the angle of the rider due to ergonomics, etc etc etc etc? All I took from this on ventilation is, on a touring bike with a big fuck off screen not enough air gets to the vents. A different bike may show different results. I've got an ER6F an at times on moderate temp days i close the vent at the top as my head gets a bit cold 😂. Still a good lid regardless.

Had is-17, not a great fit. Rpha 11, perfect. Rpha 70, went up a size, not a huge jump between M and LG. The 70 has better ventilation, and use the internal visor down one inch as a sun visor. A touch heavier than the 11. Quite compared to my Arai, but the type of bike and screen make a huge difference to noise.

The F70 is going to come between both thr i70 and the RPHA 70. So, instead of a polycarbonate shell it is made of fiberglass, it is prepared for HJC's Smart Bluetooth system, and it is more comfortable. We've made sure to carefully measure the different aspects of the helmet's performance. So, we unfortunately did find the helmet had 105dB inside, which is noisy compared to many of the other helmets we've tested under the same conditions. This also makes sense considering the large vents in the helmet, which will let more wind noise in. Nonetheless, compared to other helmets in its category it still has a lot to offer for features and quality. Thanks for the comment! What are your thoughts on the two helmets?

@@Championhelmets Thanks! I can see an F70 in my near future. Pretty much ticks all the boxes on what I'm searching for. It's sad that HJC decided to omit the quick change visor mechanism on this considering most their other helmets, even the $100 lids have it. Not a deal breaker by any means tho. It's got a drop down visor, so doubt there would be much need for face shield changing due to that.
@Championhelmets
@Championhelmets 4 жыл бұрын
Our pleasure! It was a bit strange that HJC chose to leave out the rapid fire mechanism. Though it's difficult to say, it likely came out as a result of keeping costs low (though as you mentioned it's also in more inexpensive helmets) or it may have been in the interest of aesthetics, as is often the case with retro helmets. But the drop down sun visor was impressive, especially when combined with the tall breath guard, which should also help in keeping glare to a minimum. If you have any further questions on the helmet, then we're always happy to help

@@gardenstateflatlandb I can confirm that THE F70 is NOT quiet - even with ear plugs. It's cacophony in terms of wind noise. I bought a Shoei RYD and was amazed at how quiet a a helmet could actually be, considering the F70 was my first helmet as a new motorcycle rider. Do yourself a favour - don't buy it. Also, i LF you opt for the HJC Smart system, you won't be able to use that on another helmet should you move. Finally, no SHARP ratings if that's important to you.

One last question, looks like I’m going to need a helmet for summer and winter. What’s the type of helmet to get to stay as cool as possible in 90F/32C temps. Is it true dual sports for example trump all road helmets? If only there was a database on a website from someone who tested all these things so I could just sort by ventilation. 😝 If there was such a organization that tested helmets, I’d gladly create that database for them, even if they just need someone to transport it to excel and want to handle the website end on their own. 😉

Hello! A helmet you can use both in summer and winter and stay as cool as possible is the Bell Star DLX MIPS, which has five stars on ventilation. Regarding your second question, I did not understand it properly, do you mean a multifunctional helmet? Like Sport-touring for example? If that is your question then please note race helmets are designed specially for racing. You can find our rankings at the end of every guide video, where we compare different helmets regarding ventilation, among other features. Thanks again! Does the cardo bold fit in the f70? Worried I'll get stuck with the hjc comms
@Championhelmets
@Championhelmets 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Joshua, the Cardo Packtalk Bold should have no issues in fitting the F70. There is space to use the clamp mount (since the Smart 10B/20B systems use clamps as well) and the speaker pockets are roomy, which means they should fit the JBL speakers. Since the Bold doesn't have an external battery like the Packtalk Slim, you won't need to worry about the area in the back of the helmet reserved for the Smart 10B/20B battery, which will make mounting the system very easy. Thanks for the question! What are your thoughts on the HJC helmet?

The main differences between the two helmets are the shell material, weight, noise level, and ventilation. So, while the N87 Plus is made of LEXAN polycarbonate and weighs about 1570 grams, the F70 is made of a fiberglass composite and weighs almost 100 grams lighter. Is the HJC F-70 better than the Scorpion Exo 3000 Air? And which one is quieter?
@Championhelmets
@Championhelmets 4 жыл бұрын
Though we haven't had a chance to road test the Scorpion Exo 3000 Air, we'd stick with the HJC F70. Though which is better may depend on your helmet preferences, the safety of the F70 should be better overall since it is full face helmet and the EXO 3000 Air scored only 3/5 stars from SHARP. As far as noise, both will be on the louder end of the spectrum, but the prevailing consensus suggests that the F70 is going to be quieter than the EXO 3000 Air. As far as the other features in the helmet, we'd expect them to both be on a similar level.
