People didn't hate the game because Joel died lol. They hated the game because Joel and Tommy, after rescuing a complete stranger, decided to say "Hey, I'm Joel, and this is my brother Tommy. I have no clue who you guys are or why you're so close to our home but we live right down the way here, maybe you've seen the city?" Joel and Tommy weren't supposed to be "good people." Ellie makes a point of this throughout the story, too. Joel's death was shitty and retarded. Also, why exactly did Tommy take off without Ellie knowing she would just follow him anyway? Doesn't he know her? lol

It's really hard to empathize with someone if the game never actually gave you a reason to. I mean, I actually liked Abby because she was funny and I loved her relationship with Lev but never once did I empathize with her. We were never allowed inside her thoughts like we are with Ellie and her journal but never Abby. Also I think one of the reasons why people are upset with Abby is because Abby was never forced to watch her father die but Ellie was. That rage stayed with the players for 20+ hours. It's really hard to see Abby's side of the story if we're still on Ellie's side. I don't hate this game but I do want a novelization of it so I can understand it more because I feel there is so much story just cut out.

it's such a heart wrenching game, but I love it soo much. You can tell it's so good by the fact that is leaves you sobbing. Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson are so good together! It's also my favourite game if you couldn't tell haha

Joel gets attached to Ellie in the process because she reminds him of his daughter that died, When he brought her to the fireflies, he didn't know she would die because of the vaccine, and he refused to do this but the fireflies refused to give her back, so he did what needed to be done in order to save her, I stayed on Ellie's side until the end of the game

Gotta agree, although it took me lot of time to just get into Abby’s shoes and understand where she was coming from, for the living life of me I just could believe that Ellie didn’t killed her asap, but then I got to the point that I understood her We all see Joel and Ellie as the heroes but if the game started with Abby and her dad and just Joel showing up there and doing what he did (saving Ellie/killing Abby’s dad) I’m pretty sure we would have different outlook on the game The hero in our story is villain in someone else’s story Joel was hero in Ellie’s story And in Abby’s story he was the villain Just love this game, just how the hatred,the revenge and everything about this game makes you feel, could also be the fact that this game is my favourite because I used to play this game with my siblings back in 2013-2014 and it’s my core memory with my siblings , we played it 24/7 before school after school we usually woke up early just to play it but still got to school late cus we got so hooked to the game

Only thing they wanted was to include as much hate and agenda in their story so kids don't have a second thought on ending someone's life cause it's justified by their means at the end.... Just violence with no consequences.

I am very empathetic however, I just don’t see myself fitting into any tribe. Stand up for that bullied kid in school. Befriend them. They need the kindness or they will either go postal or kill themselves or lead a miserable existence. Very few are successful afterwards. People create the evil they often relegate to demons. The only demonic entity I know is indifference to human suffering.

@@magiccookies420 She only wanted to kill joel. Ellie didn't have to be there for that to happen. After killing joel, that score was settled. Joel kills her dad, so she killed him. THEN Ellie gets revenge on abby, continuing the cycle.

That's the thing, I was pretty sure that we were going to end up playing as Abbyat some point as soon as we switch to her in the first act. And from then on until I actually got to play her in a full act of story I was kind of dreading it.Specifically because stories that switch between main characters on opposite sides of a conflict almost never do it well. in fact, I'm fairly certain this was the first one to actually succeed in my experience. Not only did I not think that Abby would work as a secondary protagonist, I honestly didn't think that they would succeed in making me care about her at all as a character. I was wrong. I love Ellie as a protagonist. she's easily a stand out as far as video game characters go in general. But Abby was way more interesting. As I said, I love Ellie. and I'm glad that her ending more or less worked out for her. But I'm really looking forward to a potential sequel where you play as Lev, or Abby, or Abby and Lev... If that's the direction they decide to go in

How can you say that? Joel’s death is essential to the story. You think it is brilliant but not joel’s death? How could it be brilliant without it?

I believe this sensation that it was too long comes from the surprise of it all... you keep wanting to rush trought it to find out whats going to happen. This problem disappears after your second playthrough.

But she did have the best part of the gameplay tho. Flame thrower. Rat king. Scars. Best cutscenes of the game when she was captured. It was super exciting and chill because there wasn’t really an “exciting” motive set yet. I love the game but having to go back for Lev was just tedious and not the “excitement” I wanted lol , but that runaway from the camp is my personal favorite. Her part honestly is the best. Ellie had the best storyline but Abby had the best play style and gameplay. At least to me.

I did enjoy the game but Abbys gameplay was wayy to long and I also hated Abby fighting Ellie. And with Joel’s death what I though would happen is Joel’s ghost follows Ellie on her journey serving as a moral guide to her (kill them or not)

I understand why most didn't included her... but I don't think it is a good idea at all. This game (Imho) is something never experienced BECAUSE of Abby. In fact thank to her story we understand that there are not black or white. Just Grey. The thing that make great this game is not Ellie/Joel relationship. But Ellie/Abby dualism and parallelism. So if you cut off in your montage at least half of the game and you don't include Abby's stuff, you are not going to focus to the real strength of the game. It becomes just a bad story of revenge. Ellie goes on killing everyone and she I goind to be shocked by that. Stop. Meh. That's my opinion, do you agree, or not? I'm curious to hear yours opinion.

I didn’t like how we had to play as her to start with but clearly her section of the story must’ve done something good because I’m on playthrough 4 now

Had they allowed for more than one ending and allowed you as Ellie to kill Abby the meaning in the ending would have been for nothing. They told the story THEY wanted to tell. The meaning would have been lost otherwise and most people would have just killed Abby out of vengeance.
