I liked that the driver waved at the boy in the wheel chair at the last but one station (Tokyo Sky Tree?). As a kid I always waved at the drivers. Well done Madame.

Greetings from Sydney. Who is the driver giving hand signals to?🏳🌈

It's called pointing and calling. Essentially drivers point at and call out signals and important signs. It makes sure they don't accidentally miss things. It's standard practice in Japan and has severely reduced accidents due to missed signals and unawareness in a job that can be very repetitive at times.
