I use a mix of matte spray paint for a base coat, then top coat with model grade spray ie testors, etc. And detail with enamels.

my only real advice would be to experiment. I used a flat white spray over the body pieces, and then wend over that with a pearl white model spray, but that may not be the look you are personally going for.I would say to take maybe a chunk of the sprue, or if you have another piece of a toy or model, and put some different paints on it to see what works, and what looks good to you.

The HMM kits come with the parts cast in colored plastics, so they don't HAVE to be painted. however, they are not detailed or anything, and in Fury's case, he was more of a lavender than white. I would suggest checking out my zoids unboxing videos to see how they come out of the box. :-)

you don't have to. the parts are all molded in colored plastics, and for the most part look fine on their own.-see my unboxing vid!- but I enjoy painting and such.

Well, ems is the more expensive way, and takes just a few days. Sal is cheaper, but can take up to two weeks or more.

I unfortunately don't have any unpainted kits. I paint them before assembly. My unboxing vids are the closest I've got.

Lots of patience. It took me several tries to get those bits keyed properly, especially after being painted. You just have to take your time with it, those pieces are fairly fragile. Sorry I don't have any awesome secret for you. It's just a pain, I'm afraid.

omg!!!...u just reminded me of the last episode. where both of them fight to the death. but in the end liger zero made berserk fury go back into extintion. thats a really big difference liger could have goten crushed. u can see the size at 6:29....

Np! It's best to do a light coat first, to see how tight it will get, so as not to risk breaking the joints. You can also use floor polish.

Acrylics can be great for small details or matte spots, but shows brush strokes too much. Enamels come out a bit smoother, but require more cure time. Takes a lot of patience!

hm, I am not sure about the panel lining on joints, I don;t usually do that.. anyway, if you put a layer of nail polish on the joints before you attach them, once the polish dries, you put the pieces together and it will create friction, keeping the joints tighter

Just ordered one of these because I was so impressed by this video. Ive never done any modeling before but me and a friend used to put together the hasbro Zoid models over a decade ago. Figured I'd get some nostalgia going and try my hand at something new. Got the package in the mail today and inside is a $5-$10 Berserk Fuhrer action figure... Oh the disappoint.

I'm picking up my berserk this week. So stock the armor is purple ish? Thats the only thing I am weary about. I really dont like painting my hmm as I messed up two of my d-style ones, I don't want to mess up the big boys. I hope one day they make a gojulas giga hmm, that would be amazing/

WHERE did you get that translucent stand for that Fury? Which explains the unknown port under his belly! I coulf use one of those stands!

The buster unit is optional, Fury can be displayed with or without it

In the anime, BF is a lot taller than liger zero. The hmm 1/72 doesnt seem to be in the right proportion.

crankyboiy probably an animation choice. Your enemy has to often appear more dangerous so they make them larger.

Well, for panel lining, I use a gundam marker, or any super fine tip marker, and a very thin brush with some thinned black paint for any larger gaps. You just have to make sure the paint on the model is totally dry, which I don't always do... Nice vids, by the way!

you mentioned something about using panel lining on joints what will that do? i have the berserk fuhrer kit and i finished the base of the kit no armor whatso ever. before i put on the armor i want to make the joints stronger so what will the nail polish do?

I actually already have a video about that! I cut the pieces, and use standard spray paints as a base coat.

Did you paint the inside of the mouth black? I just got my kit and I realised the inside of the mouth are molded the same colour as the teeth.

I used a "Gundam Marker" they can be found on Amazon and other craft & hobby sites. they are made specifically for panel lining.

I don't know, but that would be awesome! I would love for them to do some of the genesis zoids, like mugen Liger. If kotobukiya did make phoenix armor, I don't think it would form the phoenix, itself.

Where'd you get the clear stand for your Berserk Fuhrer? It doesn't look like a clear MG Gundam stand to me and I'm interested in getting one of those for my own Berserk Fuhrer when I build him. Thanks. :)

Hey rob I wanted to ask you if you could explain what you mean about painting the joints with nail polish since I will not be painting anything else but the armor I want it to be Abe to stand without falling like yours was

of course! and maybe better than nail polish would be Pledge brand floor polish(future floor polish) it is acrylic based, and will add a thin layer of acrylic to your model joints, thickening them enough to keep them standing strong! I just take an old brush, and lightly add a coat to each side of the joint, letting it dry completely before putting the pieces together. basically, you want to add the polish to the part where two pieces of a joint rub together, just to add a bit more friction. the clear stands I use are tamashii stage 5 figure stands, and you can find them on amazon, as well as many online model retailers. hope that helps!

As a first time HMM buyer, do you recommend AmiAmi (like, How reputable are they? What is the cost for shipping? etc.), and on a scale of 1 to 10, how difficult was the Berserk Fuhrer (1 being the hardest- 10 the easiest)?

I use amiami for my Zoid purchases. the shipping can be a bit high, as you are shipping overseas(at least for me, in the US) that said, the shipping is very fast, usually arriving in 2-3 days. the Fury itself is a rather complex and fiddly model to build, probably a 3 or 4 on your scale.

That would be a pretty crazy hmm! I think I would love a mugen Liger hmm. And yeah, he is very purple. But you can get a good result with just some gloss white for plastics, or a flat white primer and pearl white, which I went with, and leave all the other parts as is. It is a tough call to paint such an expensive model. Good luck!

I really liked that you did a comparison shot with the old fury. I own a few old zoid kits and I can get a real sense of scale from the comparison. The 1/72 kit is massive and I'm going to have to order one. Its going to dwarf my gundam kits.

Very nice. I'm currently doing mine a pearl blue. It's very time consuming and I'll admit I considered giving up at one point but I'm so close to finishing that I just can't stop now not with it looking so good

How did the zoid core fit in yours? In mine it barely fits without the zoid core and I can't find any help anywhere

It is definitely a tight squeeze. Have you checked for extra plastic? Maybe you can sand a little bit down on the sides of the core harness. I'm afraid my model is packed away in storage at the moment, so I can't take a good look in person for you. :(

If I am remembering correctly, I did a primer coat of flat white, and then two coats of the pearl white. I hope that helps!

I just had my Berserk Fuhrer arrive today, and I'd definitely like the paint it white after seeing how mauve the out of box colour is, but have never done any painting on models before. Can you give any advice on where to start, or any brands to use and what you did with your one? Thanks. ^^

why do zoids have to be so freaking much.... if they where like gundam prices i would stop buying gundams and get more zoids

that kind of depends on the Gundam kit, no? I think the Zoid kits are larger than the lower tier Gundam kits, and therefore more expensive. but thpse master grade Gundam kits can be crazy expensive. also, a lot can depend on where you get them. buying from a Japan e-tailer can save you a lot of money, as long as you can find one with reasonable shipping.

Try ordering from places like Hobby Link Japan, their zoid model prices are decent price and lowest shipping is 8-10 from what I heard.
