Could you be a prison officer?

HMP Wayland is a category C training prison in Thetford, Norfolk. It has the aim of helping prisoners increase their chances of employment when they return to their communities which in turn protects the public.

That prison officer Scott is a proper nice geezer, he was an officer when I was on E wing , he was the first officer to greet me when I moved on to the wing (apart from miles who bought me over) I am a former prisoner at wayland and from what these 2 officers are saying is true they were all good people and do a good job, thanks for looking after me while I was there if you read this Scott (Matt page) (Darren Blackmore mate)

A thankless, dangerous job. As an Ex-Officer, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's not just the prisoners, it was the Governors that made a difficult job nigh on impossible.

I once applied to be a prison officer at Wayland in 2005. Went through all the interview and appraisals and was rejected as being considered to be too racist. I did not tell them that I had already adopted 3 kids (errm all were black and now grown up and leading quality lives, two who are married with kids).

How did they come to the conclusion you was too racist? Like what questions was they asking for them to come to that conclusion lol

@@martynscotton1020 Candidly, I have no idea. I was marked out of 5 (5 high, 1 low) on various attributes (it was a morning assessment at some prison training place in Suffolk). I had already been interviewed at Wayland, an interview that went well. There was one attribute which was connected with respect for ethnicity, the title I do not remember, but I scored badly and thus was rejected. I remember the test was to give advice to a girl who was of Indian origin. I could tell by her face that she did not like me, though I was careful with my language and respectful. I am not aware of saying something that could be construed as being politically incorrect, and if I had it would not have been with intent.

Prison officers !! are under paid over worked and not safe in most prisons and more like psychiatric nurses social workers probation officers rolled into one this job is hard I spent a decade away met some great staff I felt sorry at times for the amount of crap they had to take it made me realise some good souls in the prison service (staff that is) I would never trust any inmate

Horrible job couldn't think anything worse, over populated prisons, not enough staff and money not good either, eventually most become corrupt and prisons full of drugs and lock down

Only problem id have with being a truck driver is how the job itself can be at times e.g driving tired as fuck and having to worry about people trying to steal or get into your truck at night or not being able to shower at times
