Maybe could you show how to cut the metal off at the end. You said you need to do that before you sell it. (Which is why I’m watching) need to learn that and also what tools I might need. Thank you sir!

I just run a sawzall down the ends to cut them flush. Then I pop out all the leftover "c" shaped copper into the scrap copper bucket.

@@HNXMediado you know an easy way to take the fins off the copper tube of the rad? I'm sure I can do it but I don't think its worth my time

@@joshbigelow5014 I take a sawzall and go right down the copper tubes and cut them off, you miss a small bit on the tube but it's a lot easier, I do these ac's all the time

Nice job how do we separate the copper from aluminum from the Radiator
@HNXMedia
@HNXMedia 3 жыл бұрын
The copper that runs through the radiator is left in place. Where I sell my scrap, they pay the best price if you cut off the "U" shaped ends off the copper pipes on the radiator and then sell the rest of it "whole." It is actually referred to as "radiator rate" for payment. I just add all those "U" shapes to the rest of the copper. For some reason, if you leave the "U" ends in place, the rate is far lower. Hope that makes sense and helps.

Its called "intent to vent" It is illegal to intentionally vent refrigerant, but a leak does not have to be fixed. Also, leaks happen all the time the world is an imperfect place.

How did you "remove the metal from the coils"?
@HNXMedia
@HNXMedia 4 жыл бұрын
I run a reciprocating saw down the edge of the radiators (cutting through all the little "U" shaped copper tubes) and cut the metal "plate" off each end. Then I pull any of the copper "U" pieces off the metal plate with a pair of pliers. If you do not remove the metal from the ends of the radiators, my scrape yard considers it "dirty copper" and won't pay top dollar. I hope this is what you were referring to, and I hope this helped. If not, just ask another question and I will answer it as soon as possible. Peace.

How much did you get for it?
@HNXMedia
@HNXMedia 6 жыл бұрын
I dropped it off along with a larger load of items, so it is hard to say exactly. When I looked at the ticket from the yard, it looks like about $20 (US). All the money is in the radiators and compressor, so the value is going to fluctuate based on the price of copper (since that is what it is primarily). Best to stockpile about 5 before running to the scrapyard, unless your scrapyard is within a few miles of your home. Hope that helped. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Happy scrapping! Peace!
