Ken, here is a great way to make your hatch lid a lake. Paint it blue or blue green your choice. Apply two coats of gloss polyurethane and put it back in. The wood will give it some texture.

Great job. When you first chopped out the middle I was like "Noooooo!!". But now I now I think I understand the vision a little better. That will make a great lake!

also you might think about spreaders and rotary plows teams. i watched a video of snowplow and spreaders from Reno Nevada to Redding California. i like your idea of wheels under layout. i also seen a few videos of where all the layouts sections can be moved around and connected with other layouts. but these are all ideas for you the foam boards can fit in small areas to fill in spots and make the mountains that you might need and can be removed easily too.

foam might be a lightweight to make hills and mountains if you want to try it. I have seen other railroaders using it on their layouts. start with mapping basicly then go into fine detailing then work with paints or spray paint.

Ken now that the back of the tracks ape is up against the wall you could maybe build some nice uneven rock background along the back edges, so it doesn’t look so unrealistically flat line..

Merry Christmas Ken! 🎄☃Cute when you put the cut Christmas trees in the cargo caboose. Your set-up is picked clean! Did the leaf blower work? Wow, snow! The battery died! It's fun to watch you put snow on you model railroad set. Good idea to mount several outlets on the model railroad table. I like the new plywood cover you made for the hole in the center of the table. Are you going to flock the trees? I do like the lights out with the Christmas lights. That did look like fun to run the train Ken. Thanks for this fun video!

Ken you can make your own snow by using your rotary saw cutting a block of white polystyrene. Also make green grass by spraying some sawdust green…(Do you know anywhere you can get some sawdust??) 🤔

You should have put back the tracks you removed and then you need a snowplow for your layout. Either a Russell or rotary snowplow
