I'm from the Cook islands and understood this language.. how we all from the Pacific are truely one.. what a great short film!!

When I was in elementary school my Hawaiian history teacher taught me about King Kamehameha and how he was a smart child he was hidden in a cave behind a rock in a small tunnel and he knew the situation well enough that if he made any noise he would have been killed along with the other villagers. Now I could be wrong about that story but this video does capture that. So I think the young boy is supposed to be King Kamehameha.

All of the people’s of the world have a vast history filled with war, grit, darkness, lust, and also adventure, inspiration, beauty and honor. Amazing to see the story of Pacific Islanders finally be told on a grand scale like this. It’d be really cool to do a series on it and you could have Aussie and New Zealander actors speaking English so it’d be easier to consume for everyone🤔

I am still blown away with this production the main character was believable the acting was on point. The camera angles I will admit during the battle scene looked a little cheesy but I understand you did what you did with your budget. OUTSTANDING story line! As well as supporting cast and scenes. Too impressive for an indie. Like I said I was blown away so I'm giving this this Best of the Best Indie title belt

Wow! I’m speechless… I can’t believe I only found this now in 2022. This is the most unreal short film I have ever came across. I’ve always wanted to ale a short film about Hawaii. It would be this great but what a movie. So much work and time has gone into this. Standing ovation to how ever made this. From sets to grading, sound design. Cinematic excellence!! Gotta love our home Hawaii. This reminds me of stories of ancient Hawaii that I’ve heard about the Tahitians coming and trying to take over the land. Unreal who ever made this!

With the spirit of Pacific Islanders past that embodies survival and continuity of life despite intensities and struggles of wars, hardships, etc. This story depicts the bravery of those who fought to perpetuate the Pacific Islander culture and legacy to present time despite it's brevity. There is so much beauty and strength to be shared with one another. I long for a day that we can learn to celebrate the differences of every culture rather than letting it divide us. We might actually find that we're not as different as we'd like to think. This was beautifully done.

A very good movie. No doubt this is a Hawaiian movie depicting an Eastern Polynesian cultural experience from a Hobbesian theme of man in a state of nature, the motif of fight or flight is overarching throughout Polynesian cultural dynamics, with conflict and flight for the vanquished. Also, the willingness to find new lands for settlement and discovery would always woo the Deepsea explorer. From a Samoan perspective, we can see the transition of our people from Matavai Bay, Asau Harbour, Asau, Vaisigano District, Savaii Island to Matavai Bay in Tahiti and centuries later the descendants of the Matavai people from Asau, Vaisigano district of Savaii Island would migrate further north to Hawaii in 400AD from French Polynesia. The Eastern Polynesians would honour their dead with their spirits ascending and returning to Havaiki their Valhalla, the Samoans did not have a Havaiki, or Valhalla or Nirvana of their own, they had a Pulotu, or the spiritual realm. The Eastern Polyneisans, however, would claim that Havaiki was their spiritual homeland and that all their deceased loved ones spirit would travel back to Havaiki in the afterlife. There is the Big Island of Savai'i in Samoa. There is a Matavai Bay, in the village of Asau, Savaii in Samoa, just as there is a Matavai Bay in Tahiti, by the descendants of the Matavai people of Asau who travelled to Tahiti 2000 years ago. As a Samoan, we would rely on geo-linguistic evidence of our descendants in Tahiti and later still to the Hawaii Islands and are certain that both the Tahitians and Hawaiians are ancient descendants of Samoa, and go further to suggest that some of these people were from my Village of Asau, Savaii, Samoa over 2,000 years earlier. TIm Tufuga. (Yes, my ancestors are from Matavai, Asau, Savaii, Samoa, amongst other villages from Samoa.)
