Now almost 2 years into Tennessee, the reasons we moved out of California and settled in Tennessee, are now more apparent than ever. We can confidently say, we made the right choice and have never looked back. We have embraced East Tennessee and look forward to giving ourselves back to this awesome state!
Thank you for watching and subscribing. We appreciate every one of y'all watching and hope watching Californians get settled in Tennessee is semi-entertaining.

Love your videos! We live in California and are conservative. It’s not easy living here with people who don’t agree with our family values. We have many friends who moved to Tennessee and absolutely love it! My husband has a few more years till he retires from law enforcement. As a born an bred person who bleeds orange, I appreciate how you spoke of TN. The only issue I've had with ppl moving over here is when one claims they want the country lifestyle the country views, only to destroy that environment with development, that takes away from that country life. It's paining to know the wildlife animals are being ran out of their homes for that very reason.

My husband and I too left California 9 months ago for the same reasons many of you have listed. We retired and sold our home to buy an RV. Since then we have visited many states and the state we both fell in love with was Tennessee. The culture, the freedom, the lack of the need for glutinous possessions felt liberating. @@jordyjord1519 lmao I am not ungrateful for people that don't want to completely change our way of life lol. I am grateful for variety of thought and inclusiveness of all perspectives. I am not ungrateful for any single soul moving from any state wanting to merely add to the already abundant activities we have here in my state. All I stated was I didn't want anyone to come in and completely change our ways. That doesn't include any backwards notions that actually need changing btw. That also doesn't in any single way make me ungrateful for people now living or moving into my area to enjoy what we have to offer. I've met many fine Californians that now call themselves Okies. I do believe you are projecting how maybe someone has made you or others feel idk. But I personally only stated what I stated. Adding to it based on your perspective doesn't make it my own.

Tennessee has a large Christian population. The more professing "Christians" there are in an area, the more likely it is that there are genuine born again Christians there. What that produces is God's blessings and people filled with the Holy Spirit. Can't believe how much exodus from California the past 20 yrs. Lived in Alabama since '96 but seriously wanting to move to east Tennessee. I love mountain towns. As someone who was born in Akron, Ohio and still considers myself Buckeye Red. Still have the accent. I grew up living in Rancho Cucamonga, Cal back in 1981-94 when Cali was still cool to live there. Everyone wanted to live in Cali. When people back east would ask what So Cal was like, there was a lot of pressure to impress others. Brands, style, what you own. I saw the early signs of every problem they have now, overpopulation, pollution, drought, higher crime, liberals indoctrination in high school, Democrats from everywhere moving in. Reagan was prez. Too young to understand what that meant to USA. Conservatism was to be proud of. Hope TN doesn't suffer the same fate.

Please specify what southern traditions and way of life you are talking about. What is a "true southerner" in the USA today? Everywhere in the USA today, there are a lot of people formerly from somewhere else. Your "way of life" is not under your control, you can only control yourself.
@franka2743

@@chrysr7773 these points could be argued until we're blue in the face, however once upon a time many Southerners did indeed have their own culture, and some still do, and no it wasn't just racism. Of course there's our accent, and there's variations of our accents depending on the region, we had our own taboos and "southern manners" thing going on, and what northerners call "soul food" is/was simply food to us, its just what we eat.. And back in the day religion was taken way more seriously in parts of the south (hence, "the bible belt ") and there was a church on pretty much every other block, but of course this varied I suppose. I remember when I was little it was still shameful (and mostly unheard of) to have multiple "baby daddy", to be drunks, etc., and most everyone in an area knew everyone else. And in the more rural areas people would (and some still occasionally do) even wave at you as pass each other on the road in cars lol (the "southern hospitality" thing, again), etc. Time just flowed differently for us. I remember this very well when I was a small child (I'm in my early forties now). And contrary to popular belief there's tons of black people in the South and for the most part we've gotten along just fine for a long time now, at least where I've lived. Also, black Southerners have their own variations of culture as well. When I was a youth and visited up north the differences in our cultures were obvious. But of course white Southerners are the only people for whom it's PC to make fun of, so we catch all the hell. But the South was much more than racism. By the way, to the haters, I don't give two fks what you think about us. ✌️to everyone. P.S of course it could be different for different Southerners from different places and different situations, I'm just speaking from my personal point of view. And when we ask you to respect the way that we live, just asking you to leave behind the politics and thinking that destroyed the places from which your fleeing.

I welcome every single Californian with open arms to this beautiful place. You will become family. Just please remember why you are fleeing your state and how it made you feel when it started to change for the worst. I think the remedy for the tragedy of Cali is people moving to new places like TN and learning a new happy way of life. I would be lying if it didn't scare us a little at first but but I have faith in our culture, beliefs, and way that has the power to really give people what their true heart desires instead of just filling the hole in their soul temporarily. It makes me smile to see a Californian get here and start understanding how we live, love and the happiness it can bring them. Please come visit us in the smoky mountains soon. It will absolutely take your breath away!

Most Appalachians, but especially NE Tennesseeans, have a very deep, but quiet relationship with God and Nature....Most NE Tennesseeans grew up farming, near farms, in churches or near churches, on/in the river or near the river... We have confronted the environment, the Laws of Man, the spiritual, the supernatural, as in our dreams and as in a part of our souls...We reject the totalitarian powers of Washington, D.C. and beyond... WE embrace the damn-near Libertarian ideals of Emancipating other Human Beings from bondage, taxation-as-theft, and we love the HELL out of our GUNS. Jonesborough, TN printed the "Abolitionist Papers" for God's sake. As the people of the 423, we deeply respect the Acts of Charity, Kindness, brutal open honesty, observing cleanliness, and being very kind to other human beings and animals....we're the polite "Japan of the South"...hahaha, my Japanese teacher said that once. Hello ex-Californians. Can't believe how much exodus from California the past 20 yrs. Lived in Alabama since '96 but seriously wanting to move to east Tennessee. I love mountain towns. As someone who was born in Akron, Ohio and still considers myself a Buckeye Red. I grew up living in Rancho Cucamonga, Cal back in 1981-94 when Cali was still cool to live there. Everyone wanted to live in Cali. When people back east would ask what So Cal was like, there was a lot of pressure to impress others. Brands, style, what you own. I saw the early signs of every problem they have now, overpopulation, pollution, drought, higher crime, Democrats from everywhere moving in. Reagan was prez. Too young to understand what that meant to USA. Conservatism was to be proud of. Hope TN doesn't suffer the same fate.

I've been a little hesitant on doing a video like that because it can be so opinionated due to so many of us have different wants and desires, but I think along those lines, maybe doing something like best areas if you want land, or close to city, or something like that, I think I can put something like that together

Tennessee changes from one end of state to the other. West TN. Is flat and open. Memphis probably not the best area. Nashville is nice in the outskirts, but downtown is turning liberal. Chattanooga has small mountains, good shopping. Knoxville it good place if you don’t mind crowds. Northeast Tn, has mountains, trout fishing, hunting, it is excellent for outdoors people. Not as populated. A 1800 sf home in rural TN is less than $200k. No state income tax.

I agree it depends on your life style. East tennessee had many mountains and lakes for plenty of outdoor activities. Oak Ridge has an excellent school system but most of Tennessee has decent school systems which surprises most people.

I moved from Sonoma County California to Murfreesboro Tennessee in 1998. When I left California at the end of March, it had been cold and raining for months. The night I got to Nashville, I was sitting in a Cafe at 9pm wearing a tank top, thinking it was amazing that the weather was so much nicer in Nashville! The next morning I woke up and there was snow on the ground! I am a Californian to my core, and I have been to almost all of our states. Tennessee is the only other place that felt like home. I quickly made friends that have lasted a lifetime. The people there are wonderful. I worked in downtown Nashville, and the funny thing was that almost everyone I knew at work was from somewhere else. This made it even better because we were all able to learn from one another. It was also cool how everyone brought a little piece of their previous culture with them. My friend from Boston who was Italian taught us all how to make the best sausage & peppers. My friend from Louisiana introduced us to amazing Gumbo. My friend from Georgia could make peach anything. It was so cool! Also, the food there is amazing! The sweet tea is the finest. I so wish I could figure out how to make it the same at home. Also, when I moved there, my cost of living decreased by about 50% and my income only went down about 5%

Sadly, the bias against new Californian refugees stems from the first Californians here who buy up the small town papers to turn them Left. :( Left a bad taste in most TN's mouths. And certain Californians are targeting some areas to increase the Left philosphy. :( But if you have the enthusiasm to embrace the way of life and conservatism in TN - you will be warmly received.

As long as you don't try to change our way of life and our values, you are welcomed and will most likely become like family. Another thing most people don't know about Tennessee is how diverse our population is, there are people from all walks of life living here and that's another wonderful thing about our state. We Tennesseans are very accepting of all people who show good character, and willingness to accept us, your skin color, religion or sexual orientation is a non-issue with us. We stick by our family and friends and will always have your back, if you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us. We will be there for you in your time of need, we will go out of our way to help you in any way we can without expecting anything in return.
We moved from CA to TN (our thoughts one year later)
