I do miss the "collaborative storytelling" method of play. Building narrative campaigns where one force is at a distinct disadvantage and is simply trying to hold out to allow other elements of their main force to prepare defences, small skirmishes having impact on larger battles to follow - they were great. But impossible to find now, everything seems to be "2k matched play" only. It was another nail in the coffin of my 40k interest, but the attitude does seem to carry over to other games in both my groups.
