I've not made a kit for 50 years. Looking to get back into it and watching a few vids for guidance before I start. Yours was the best I've seen so far. Good, layout instructions from you as regards preparation, painting techniques and working your way through the kit. Thanks a lot for a very useful video.

Thanks for the build review! Handy information on the rough spots -nice to be forewarned before I get there in my own build. Thanks much. On a historical note, the instructions on the guns is incorrect. The "bomber" version (A-2a) only had the two lower guns mounted. The upper guns were removed to compensate for the added bomb weight. The kit also includes both gun port panels for both the A-1 and A-2. Part P-9 is the one with the blanked out upper gun ports. Brett Peacock accurately called out some paint instructional inaccuracies in the manual. Airbrushing tip: you are using "wet" coats. You might get better results with a few lighter "dry" coats. Also, no need to gloss the entire plane. Finally, flat coat products are most effective when applied as light coats. Too thick and it can go semi-glossy and in some products even "fog". Thoroughly enjoyed your video. Thank you again for taking the time. I'll have to check your others. Cheers!

Hobby Boss are a division of Trumpeter kits. They can vary from very good (the 262( to rather...iffy (Their Spiteful, Sea Hornet, Whirlwind) but all of them have rather "iffy" detail research. Instructions without full, complete paint guides for the interior, or incorrect color callouts. (They advise to paint the engine cowling interiors on all the 262s in RLM02, most were left in natural metal aluminium. Same with the nosewheel bay, main wheelbays and underneath the cockpit. tub) Not a big deal if you spend a while checking their callouts with some other references. I have several of their Me 262 kits: The Standard A-1a Fighter, the Recon version (That one has more an a coup[le of issues though, but easily fixed, thankfully) and now the 262B1a/U1 Nightfighter. (They also do the 50mm cannon armed version and a 2 seat trainer.) The 262 kits go together beautifully (like most Trumpeter kits) and this kit appears to be the Trumpeter 1/32 kit scaled down to 1/48. it even has the same slot and tab system to mount the interior (Cockpit and gunbays) Their decals (From Memory) are quit good, but I tend to use aftermarket decals anyway, usually. Some folks call them "Copy Boss", but that is a bit nasty... they usually improve on what ever kit they are accused of "copying" - for an example, Trumpeter do a 1/48 Fairey Albacore, which seems to be based on the Special Hobby kits, but it has great fit and just slides together. Where it falls down is on cockpit detail and a couple of details missed (The upper wing HP Slats are simply not defined. - a 5 minute scribe job as they ware shown smooth right up to the fabric effect- which is admittedly a bit heavy handed) I have both Albacore kits (SH & Trumpeter -I still think this would have been better as a Hobby Boss release) so can compare them closely. I will use the SH kit as a guide to add detail to the Trumpeter kit.

Thank's for the info and your time writing the comment. I agree with your comment about their instructions and colour call outs. Their slot and tab system is a very well thought out design.

@@pfsmodellingprojects My ONLY issue with that system is that it can be seen in the main wheel-bays if you look into the corners. It's especially obvious in the bigger 1/32 kit, but still shows in the 1/48th. Tamiya use the mounting on the Bulkheads for the same problem in their 1/48th kit and it works well enough.

Very nice build! I have seen this very aircraft (Werk nummer 500200) at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. It is in amazing condition and still init's WW2 colours.

Paint is very thick. Other than that, a nice kit for the price. 🙂
