Part 4 of a new custom build of Tamiya's new Scania 770 S - the lowboy trailer. This series will include building the truck as a NATO tank hauler including the lighting, camo painting, lowboy trailer modification and painting and Leopard tank modification and painting.

I hauled a Howitzer tank from Fort Drum, NY to Sebring, FL on a 3 axle Fontaine 3 axle depressed rail removable goose neck (RGN) trailer. Tractor was a 3 axle International semi Tractor with a 10 speed and deep reduction gearing for steep ascents and decents. The trailer itself sat an inch off of the ground. The Tank was positioned to the very rear most of the trailer, with the gun barrel facing forward.

The trailer does look substantially better with some paint and detailing. I am impressed the chrome did not chip or flake off at all after soaking in super clean.

Bob, were you able to use the LM-BT-16-4 to power the Diecast Masters lights or did you replace the Diecast Masters lights?

I haven't even finished my first truck and trailer and I think I've already discovered my next project. The spring-loaded contact pads and the wires and motor in the gooseneck have me curious about using the Beier's 'motor' circuit to both lower the deck and unlock the gooseneck through the radio.

one thing to consider. what are the full size laws for max axle weight? then divide that by the load weight. then that gives you the actual number of axles needed to make this trailer look fully scale. the tractor unit alone would be overweight on axles. its scale haul weight is 44 metric tonnes.

Wondering what type of surface prep you did before painting the trailer? Did you use a primer or scuff up the surface? It looks too shiny/smooth to take paint very well. Great looking job!

I just painted it, no scuffing. Took the paint fine. I do wash with dish soap first.

Nice work on the trailer only after i take it apart i notice that you can add a sidemarker light at the rear of the trailer so to bad you didnt notice that. The places you use for the Beier LM-BT-16-4 Bluetooth lightmodule and battery is the same as i would place it but most of all i like your build

DCM oughta give you a Franchise, that trailer looks magnificent. Question though, did you reinstall those two metal strips, you didn’t mention them when you did the wiring. Ah one more question, how are you going to get the gooseneck to operate? I’m sure the Biers system will have a servo connection for that, correct? In closing though, as I said magnificent, you do superior work on your projects. Thank you for sharing and showing how to get it done.

How did you raise the gooseneck. Out of the box from DM its low and didn’t have clearance of the truck fenders

NVM. I was able to open the motor compartment, loosen the drive and manually extend it and put it back together. Looking forward to the video on how to make that work! Thanks Bob.

Hello Bob I consider you a master builder! I have one question for you have anyone ever built a 1/14th scale car holler for the Tamiya tractors? I am the visually impaired builder that built my 1st kit about 4 months ago, it turned out fantastic! I now would like to build a car hauler trailer for my next kit build!

if you havent already then also have a look and ask around on the "rc trucks and construction" forum... i dont think there are any "mass produced" car hauler kits but i have seen some scratch builds, and if i remember right there might have been someone making limited number of kits.

It is a nice detailed/looking trailer. But it’s not inexpensive. Nothing RC is inexpensive to us common folk.

Just to inform you. Un real life Military Transportation always have Two persons in tge cab. Driver and assistant Driver\Guard. Your truck is incomplete sir.
