Probably the best tutorial Ive seen I can already stop being a hockey player for over 10 years but for the beginners this is a great way to introduce the stop, nice job

My hockey stop is weak I've gotten faster backwards but mostly use a plow or drag stop I ice skate once a month or two

@@alissatrunz9082 Took me probably about a week of practicing for about 1-2 hours a day, so probably around 7-8 hours total. Can still only do it on one side though lol.

@@alissatrunz9082 I would say that I am a good skater, not anything crazy though. I do not play hockey, skating is just one of my hobbies. I've been skating casually for years since I was young, but only really started actually trying to get better and learn new things these past couple of years.

This is such a flashback for me. I can hear those T-Blades the instant I saw the video. They were getting huge just as I was becoming a teenager.

Hockey is my dream sport but im 16 now and when i was a kid, my mom thought it was too dangerous and didnt let me play. Im scared its too late to start now, but im just so excited to skate when i get the chance, thank you for the tutorial, i'll def try:)

Train skating basics and then try to find a group of Hobby players to joyin them. Its definitely not too late if you really want it💪 I started with freestyle when i was 16 and just Look where i am today😉

I am 25 and started 4 weeks ago. I finally got a clean Hockey Stop. Just need to learn it faster in terms of "unexpected" so I can do it instantly without thinking about it. You can easily do it! Took me 3-4 Weeks going 2-3x weekly

I'm 75. Didn't start skating until my late 60s. Been playing hockey for several years now(low level of course 😁). Point is, it's not too late. You're young, just go for it. You'll be great in no time 👍😊.

Really enjoying your videos. I am really bummed that I am not living in a part of the world where ice skating is possible. I am at latitude 45.2 in North America. There are no ice rinks in my city. Thet fact that I am now 82 doesn't bother me at all. I can take a fall as well as any kid (I'll wear a hockey costume). What I need is a wnter time Canadian holiday.

Schönes video! And I don't think anything says "German skater" quicker than a set of T-Blades! I always thought those things looked awesome, but you never see them here in the US.

Either put one foot behind and turn it outwards, or put one foot in front and turn it inwards. I am not very good at ice skating and still trying to learn the hockey stop, but that usually does the trick for me

Ist ein starker Hohlschliff schwer, ich kann sehr gut Eislaufen egal ob Vorwärts oder rückwärts, übersteigen, alles sich und kein Problem, nur der Hockey Stop geht nicht, da sich meine Kufen komplett im Eis einhacken und ich eine sehr steile Kurve mache anstatt nach vorne zu rutschen und zu bremsen, auch die Anfangsschritte gehen mit meinem Schliff, bzw meiner Technik gar nicht, könnte es denn am Schliff liegen oder ist es wirklich nur ein technischer Fehler?

Wenn du wegen deinem Schliff nicht Bremsen kannst, dann ist er zu scharf für dich... und wer sehr gut eislaufen kann, der kann sicher Bremsen😉

I was able to do this before but I switched to s9`s and now it feels impossible, do you have any tips or tricks?

Thats why I prefer S11😅 My tip: try them. Its a absolute myth that freestylers have to wear S9. I tried them once and hated it. With close to 100kg the edges just dig to deep into the ice🤷‍♂️

@@AlpineIceFreestyle Thanks, I actually only bought the S9`s just because it is the standard where I live and the shop where I bought them from pretty much only had S9`s. And I also weigh 50kg so its a bit easier but thanks.

Run really fast then you either stop or fall on your face. I think I you your choice. That was how I did my first hockey stop without prior knowledge and KZfaq didn’t exist.

If they are moving to easy then too dull, if they dont move you are doing something wrong. Maybe wrong angle or not enough power

I sharpened my K2 skates in Daytona beach 🏖️ went double the speed backwards was pretty scary had just started doing a couple backwards crossovers I sometimes wear a helmet going backwards

здесь наверное стоит упомянуть про заточку коньков. торможение очень зависит от состояния льда и заточки.

@@user-df1ev8en6n Не соглашусь! если катаетесь на закрытом льду, хорошая заливочная машина , лед стабилен и гладок как зеркало. А если открытый каток с искуственным льдом, подверженный атмосферным перепадам и лед мягковат. Это разные вещи. На хорошем льду можно и 23 и меньше. На льду помягче уже 29, чтоб не втыкаться

I also think the ice quality and sharpness of the blades is part of the feeling of the hockey stop. But i also think that beginners dont get in touch with too sharp blades very often and dont feel the difference between different ice qualities too much so i didnt make it part of a very basic tutorial.

Hattest du schon mal ein Problem mit Lace Bite? Hab letztes Jahr mit dem Eislaufen begonnen und war dieses Jahr gut 7,8 mal am Eis. Vorletzte Woche hatte ich dann ziemliche schmerzen hab eine Woche Pause gemacht und gestern wieder versucht. Resultat sind jz noch mehr Schmerzen :/

Hey ✌🏻 Top Video Patrick👌🏻 Möchte mir nach nun 10 Jahren Hobbyeislaufens und Freestyling mal einen wirklich hochwertigen Schuh kaufen. Mit Hockey habe ich selber garnichts am Hut und gehe nur 1-2 mal die Woche in der Halle Eislaufen aus Spaß und um meine Freestyle Skills zu trainieren. Schwanke aktuell zwischen einem Bauer Supreme M4 welchen ich mit den hochwertigsten Materialien die T-Blade bietet zu einem T-Blade Skate umbauen lassen würde oder einen Supreme M5 Pro mit der hochwertigsten Klinge, welche ich dann zum Schleifen immer einschicken lassen würde (Haben keinen vernünftigen Schleifer vor Ort und möchte meine 630€ Budget voll ausschöpfen) Mal eine ehrliche Meinung für meinen Verwendungsbereich was erscheint dir sinnvoller? Vielen Dank und eine erfolgreiche Woche 😊

@@AlpineIceFreestyle Sorry bin da ein wenig Autistisch und will nicht die falsche Entscheidung Treffen. Ist sehr viel Geld für mich und möchte für die nächsten Jahre das Maximum aus meinem Budget rausholen. Habe bei den neuen Systemen und Kufen einfach keine Ahnung was sich da getan hat wie die im Vergleich zu T-Blades performen und aktuelle Vergleiche findet man leider auch keine :/ Tut mir Leid wenn ich da ein wenig zuviele Fragen stelle 😅

Hm.. your skate slides perfectly, I'm wondering if you have a groove in between the two edges of the blade. Meaning.. my skates are so sharp that could "cut paper" therefore sliding with them is really hard..

Strauss Hosen funktionieren einfach am besten für mich. Die sind bequem, praktisch und robust. Knieschoner sind eingenäht aber nicht von Strauss. Hab mir die Hose bei einer Schneiderin anfertigen lassen.

@@AlpineIceFreestyle reicht das als Schutz? Überlege mir derzeit Hockey Schienbeinschoner zuzulegen aber da ich kein Hockey spiele und nur normal fahre bin ich mir nicht sicher ob sowas wie du es hast nicht unauffälliger wäre. Zudem ist die Eishalle bei euch immer so leer? 😅

But I only skated to get somewhere or get fresh air, and never learned to stop without a handy snowbank I could just swerve into. I'm now joining a local ice rink with my daughter so I will try to learn to stop properly. Thanks for the inspiration and clear instructions!

I am practicing, but adding the second foot is really hard for me. I usually end up driving full speed into the wall when I turn my skates like this 😅 I can't figure out how to actually brake instead of just making a sharp turn

Can someone please explain to me why i cant stop like this??? I am skier and i do perfectly the plowing stop, but when i put my hockey skates ...well shit. Nothing happens. I just bite the ice so hard that i make a jump in order to stop or not fall, or i even spin sometimes. Please help 😁

Hey, quick update from my side. What i was doing wrong was perhaps that i dragged my non-stopping foot behind and it made me turn or simply was in the way. When i put my feet close to each other and do the ski stop it works fine!

Another thing I use left handed hockey sticks but right handed for some reason I naturally Wna stop left even tho right handed so I’m jus going with that should I force my self try right and that might stop my falling on tailbone lol

It makes a difference in the feeling. Some people do it easier with sharp blades, some prefer not too sharp blades

I tried for 2 years about once every couple of weeks when I was 8-10 years old. I couldn’t ever figure it out. I’m almost 39, back in 08 when I was 23 I went back to the same local rink and fell down 3 times trying this. I can skate just can’t stop. No idea why my brain cannot figure this out.

how is falling backwards more dangerous. I preffer to have wet ass than broken teeth or arm.

Try to stop a Fall backwards with your hands, before your backhead hits the ice...

You can really hit your head hard on the ice, you can damage your bowel bones too, hurt your spine

Why do i feel like jump hockey stop is easier, like you dont need to get that feeling of rotating, just jump and stop

Thats basically what you are doing in a regular Hockeystop, just without jumping😉

@@AlpineIceFreestyle Yea i am awear but in my opinion the hardest thing to learn is to get the feling for turning the skates not to turn them to slowly, but when you jumo you dont have to worry about that

I knew how to ice skate at 8 years old At that time i was a speed skater that knew how To do the hockey break and everyone was extremely impressed Thanks to my sister that thought me how to ice skate ⛸️ 😊😊 BTW I am still 8 years old
