The Catholic Church does not promote anti-semitism, which is what he did in his speech. He also told women to "stay in their lane." The Catholic Church reveres many vocations for single, childless women. Has he heard of nuns? What a career Mother Theresa had. Does he have some animus toward his mother who is a working physicist?

A minute or so later, Butker addresses the men not neglect their vocation as good fathers. He stated that too much violence occurs because so many men in this country are neglecting their duties as a father. Butker overall addresses both men and women about the importance of parenthood, but you won’t see the media show it that way.

Well, yeah, almost as if that's not comparable at all? It is not a controversial opinion to say that if you have children then you shouldn't be an absentee father. That's why childcare exists. That's literally doing the bare minimum for your own child. That's not comparable to telling women that they've been "told a lie" that they can have a career. He tells the men to "do hard things", "pursue talents", and to "lead the culture". Meanwhile, he only tells women that their job is to just be wives and mothers. Not only that, but he has the gall to talk about how "cost of life shouldn't be part of your career planning decisions because it separates you from God", which is so tone-deaf considering he gets paid millions of dollars to kick a ball.

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but who gives YOU the right to judge this young man who was simply stating his-based on his faith. WHY do so many take personal offense over remarks made by a traditional devout Catholic man to a CATHOLIC group of graduates at a CATHOLIC College about traditional CATHOLIC values? And by the way, he NEVER said for women NOT TO pursue a career or that there was anything wrong with it. You act as if he was speaking directly to you! And last I heard, you 2 weren’t on the invite list. Although these were sound, legitimate statements that would benefit any sensible, self respecting young woman who genuinely cares about life, true love, family, & the future of our society, it need not be followed if it doesn't suit you. When did Jesus say that women have to stay at home?
@firstnamelastname2197
@firstnamelastname2197 14 күн бұрын
@@user-ej4th4pq9k he didnt say they "have" to stay at home. homemaking is one of the most important things, raising children, giving them blessed childhoods, living for one's children before oneself is important and good for men and women, but of both genders, women are generally better suited to do this as their chief vocation. the maternal bond is much deeper and even physiological, the intimacy of breastfeeding and all the instincts and chemicals that are unique to the mother to her child (when properly bonded) and the fact that women DO even out of marriage find more comfort and meaning in more domestic and social-oriented careers, all mean that if either parent has to stay at home, it is almost certainly going to be the woman unless there is a physical or mental health problem. men are more prone to cabin fever, they are more motivated by adventure and status building and more technical pursuits, as we see in their choices in careers and free time. far more men use their free time to play war games, competitive and/or aggressive sports, whereas far more women use their free time to sit down with a coffee and socialize, or engage with sentimental media in gossip magazines and women's talk shows and tiktok, or to concern themselves with makeup and fashion. men often have more interest in history, in wars and adventure, while women are often most interested in modern media about relationships, dramas about interpersonal dynamics, etc. men are more inclined to either more solitary or technical jobs like engineering, or, alternatively, to jobs where there is a sense of masculine comradeship like you see among construction workers, whereas women are more inclined to jobs in social services where there is a lot of emotional interaction, AND when they go into jobs that are not like that, we see them bring that stuff in there, feminizing the environment with messages of "validation" and comfort such as at universities, and they even often talk about their students in a maternal way, and about "building relationships" whereas the males in the environment generally just want to get on with whatever is at hand and they are alienated or frustrated by the sentimentalism. we see in politics that women are much more concerned about things like animal welfare and "validating" minorities and nurturing refugees/immigrants than are men. statistics and simple common sense and observation proves these trends. we all know it's there, even if you find a man who wants to be a hairdresser or a woman who loves call of duty. for these reasons, it is a natural and intuitive thing that societies and communities divide labour in the family by the breadwinner and homemaker. all these trends for women, their affinity for beautifying through makeup and hair and fashion, and their being highly emotionally motivated, much more driven by empathy and interested in following and contributing to the intricacies of interpersonal relationships--all these things are "homemaker" qualities. rather than in all the idle pursuits of modern society, all those qualities are fulfilled when the home is made beautiful and "homely", an environment of feminine comfort and sensitivity, a sanctuary from the outside world, somewhere husband and child feel at peace, and, furthermore, they do this to the whole community when they belong to one, all the women coming together to make the church and festivals beautiful and they find great joy in that. empathy and sensitivity is better placed in one's child than in politics and strangers, and the tendency to create a soft and validating environment is better placed in the sanctuary of the home rather than in our institutions. none of this is problematic, and it's all plain as day. the only issue one might have with it is finding it "inconvenient"

The college literally states “As a Catholic college, Benedictine College is committed to those beliefs and natural principles that form the framework of the Judeo-Christian tradition, and it is committed further to those specific matters of faith of the Roman Catholic tradition.” Of course, his speech is going to be about God and traditional men/women family roles. What both the graduates and the media found troubling wasn't the speaker's devout Catholic views but his departure from the celebratory tone expected at such an event. Graduations are meant to honor hard work and inspire future endeavors. However, instead of offering congratulations, the speaker asserted that female graduates had been misled and would face limited futures due to their gender. To illustrate the impact, consider if the roles were reversed: imagine a female speaker at a predominantly male profession's graduation, who congratulates only women and suggests men should quit because they're better suited for another field. It's crucial to clarify that Catholic doctrine doesn't inherently limit women's success. Many women hold significant roles within the Church, including psychologists and leaders in social services. The problem lies in the speaker's demoralizing remarks, not in Catholic beliefs.

I'm sorry, but how in the world is saying that we have been told "the most diabolical of lies" NOT judgemental and misogynistic? Let's also not skip past the "dangerous gender ideologies" and "the tyranny of diversity, equity, and inclusion" (that last one actually sounds like something a movie villain would say) lines.

My mother was also a nurse and a teacher. She had worked as an RN during WWII while my father was serving in the South Pacific. I am a Boomer. Before I was even born my parents agreed upon a plan for work-home balance until I graduated from college. My mother was at home until I became 13 (8th grade). Then she worked as a teacher, so that she and I had the same schedule until I graduated from high school. Both of us were home together in the afternoons, on weekends, holidays, and summers. Her income meant that our family budget had some room for a few extras. My gratitude for all of this came into sharp focus one brutal Friday afternoon in November 1963, when I walked home alone from the school bus stop sobbing and hoping that my mother was already home to help me understand what had happened to President Kennedy. As I turned onto our street, I saw two cars in our driveway. Both of my parents were home. I will never forget that moment.

With 7 out of 10 African American families without dads, I think this was an important topic to talk about. They don’t need to talk about careers. They spent four years figuring that out. That’s great! For YOU! That’s the difference. He can’t speak for every single woman. One, he’s not a woman. And two, all women don’t have the privilege of staying home and raising their kids all on their own when they have to go out and make money because Dad left, died, or doesn’t make enough. The Family Paid leave in this country is also a JOKE. What about the women who can’t have children? Is their worth diminished because they can’t be a housewife and mom even if they wanted to? There’s nothing wrong with being a SAHM. That’s honorable in its own right. But he’s wrong for saying that’s when life begins for a woman and to lean into that vocation. Again, not every woman has that privilege. And the moms out there who are working 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet and put food on the table for their kids and get them through school with a roof over their heads and clothes on their backs… those women are honorable too.

I agree with what Harrison said. If more moms put their children first, this society would be a lot better for it. These two ladies are wealthy and have the resources to ensure their children are cared for when they aren't there. But, it makes no difference. There's no substitute for mom. If they would just ADMIT--they LIKE making a ton of money being on television. They don't want to give it up to stay at home and raise their children. Just be honest about it.

You all got way too overly-dramatic over his comments and by the way, cut him off just before he tearfully talks about how he could not do anything he has done without his wife. It is a high calling. Its not something to feel offended about. I find it more offensive that you act like "how dare he" insinuate that women of faith would be excited about being wives and mothers. It has been the most fulfilling role I've had. I've gone to college, I've chased the career....there is no comparison to being a wife and mother. Go work if you want to, work if you need to....but do not act like he has just demeaned women by speaking of being wives and mothers.

We have the awesome ability to carry and grow another human being. We cooperate with God, and our husbands to bring forth the gift of LIFE. We are unique and there’s nothing more fulfilling than being a mother. And if we’re able, giving and sacrificing our lives to our children, our husbands, and our family. This calling magnifies women. It doesn’t diminish women!! Thank you Mr. Butker!

As a woman who now has a career but stayed home and raised my children when they were young. I am so grateful for the words this man spoke of the value and importance of being a homemaker. It was by far the most important and the hardest job I have ever done. I say get your educations ladies and have your careers but when you become a parent if you choose to stay home and raise your children, it is truly worth putting your career on a temporary hold. You cannot get that time back with your children. Your career will still be there awaiting your return, and you will be even better at it after doing a job harder than any other. There is beauty in what this man said. What ever happened to the movement of praising stay home moms? Now we take something like this and turn it into a negative. If he would’ve praised woman who have careers only they would say he has no value for his wife who is a stay home mom. Can’t we see there is always a way to turn everyone’s words into a negative or positive depending what our agenda is. Focus on the positive and you will see the positive. Focus on the negative and you will see the negative. Let’s come together and stop this I’m offended attitude every time someone speaks. Also, agree that he spoke at a catholic school to young men and woman that support Catholic values. Even if I didn’t agree, it wouldn’t offend me as a career girl. I love his honoring of his partner and respect for a woman. ❤

I took them to school and picked them up and helped them with homework and took them to church and I don't regret sacrifice a so-called life of my own for my children. After they were all in college, I went to college and God provided a way for me to earn a degree and be a Catholic school teacher. Don't be afraid to sacrifice what you think is "your life and happiness " for children and family. God will bless you for it.
