Hello Hodgie! Ertl is made about 60 miles away from me here in Iowa. I was remembering back to some of quotes from the movie, somebody asked Jamie Farr "what do you have in that thing"? He replies "stock". Yeah boy, good old days.

I'd watched Danny Diecast fix those Ertl Duke of Hazzard Cars and even made some home made customs based off of the Cars from the TV Show out of Matchbox Cars maybe you can make some home made customs too since your good at it. I had that same Mr. Tee action figure! :D I love the General Lee there. I had one that was 1/24 scale but when I was a kid, I made it do all kinds of stunts which ruined the paint on it. Wish I kept it. I could've gotten it re-detailed. I remember Cannonball Run. I can't believe they got so many stars in that movie. The main actor from Hardcastle & McCormick came to my city (Orlando) last year. I didn't have time to meet him though. Many regrets. Good video

ERTL cars were just made to play with - they were tougher than a lot of other brands. For some reason, here in the UK, they were very expensive, and, as you say, they were not often the correct vehicles. I wasn't buying cars in the early 1980's; I was in my very late teens, but my kid brother was - he's always been a bit OCD with accuracy, and, although he loved 'The Cannonball Run' and 'Smokey And The Bandit' (still does, me too - they're classics), he wouldn't buy the ERTL models, as they were the wrong cars. I never knew ERTL made action figures, though. That Burt Reynolds figure looks very nice indeed. Interesting video. Thank you!

Good to have so many mint examples George.👍 We had most, maybe all, of these shows in Scotland but by then, I had pretty much given up with diecasts. ERTL thought EVERYONE were dumb. Up 'till AMT was bought by Round2, their General Lee model kit had the body of a '69 Charger 500! Sometimes for some reasons they lost the casting for some parts of their model kits and they "fixed" the model kit by replacing the parts with what they thought was similar. If I remember correctly, their '67 GTO was unbuildable 'cuz it had the undercarriage of a '71 GTO Judge (or the opposite). If ERTL could make quick bucks, by being cheap, well, you can be sure they'd do it.

Absolutely brother. I was playing with the originals back then and complaining about their cheapness at 8 or 9 years old lol.

Yes it was, and it was red oxide primer too.lol.ertl stuff was really cheaply made. Heck. Yatming (road champs) had better quality toys and they were dimestore specials.

Some of the early ERTL Smokey and the Bandit Trans Ams had the 1975/1976 front ends, not the new 1977 ones. They kept them mostly black, no gold trimming probably so adult collectors would not notice. LOL

Ever see that Meego General Lee? Its proportions are more like a Challenger than a Charger, probably changed just enough to avoid paying Chrysler a liscencing fee....

Whoa! A Coyote X diecast car??? BAD ASS! Hunter is that 80s show I don't like at all. Awesome theme, and The Daytona Turbo Z is surprisingly nimble in the chase scenes, then they stopped using it for chases. I just watched the first season chase scenes on KZfaq.

ERTL was really cheaply made compared to MatchBox and Hot Wheels, how the HELL were they getting all the TV and Movie diecast contracts? Then I found a 1989 Batman Batmobile in the lunchroom at highschool, I just started ninth grade that school year 1989-1990. That movie was so big and sold like 900 million dollars in merchandise. Played with that for years. LOL Could not believe it was an ERTL....

Just make the plot better when you re-create the Cannon Ball Run movies. Its like they just bought a bunch of cars and tried to ad-lib a plot.... the only funny jokes were the Trans Am has been done one and Sinatra in a 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z....LOL
