The G-SHOCK Ref. 6900-PT1 By John Mayer features a dusty matte blue case and strap, a more playful color combination that’s an excellent companion to the first two collaborations. Peach, coral, and turquoise from the PT-1 keyboard were brought in to highlight the “Triple Graph” display, which sits right at home in the soft cream dial. Darker grey was pulled from the sharp and flat keys of the PT-1 keyboard and added to the illuminator button. All four indicators for the buttons share the navy color from the writing on the PT-1, a perfect accent on the lighter blue background. The G-Shock Ref. 6900-PT1 By John Mayer gives you both the toughness you expect from a G-SHOCK with a colorway that will make your inner creative child smile.

I'm a huge fan of John's. Something about them not showing his face at all makes this really amusing to me. This is how you make an ad for a watch. I love vintage casio keyboards, I've got a couple, and knowing the inspiration for the watch was this keyboard makes me want the watch.

I got the Casio PT-1 keyboard for Christmas in Kindergarten. Mine was pastel pink with soft teal and coral accents and I would probably cry if there was a watch themed after it. I spent almost every waking hour trying to figure out (a very basic) Chariots of Fire by ear and was made to take piano lessons after I did. I instantly rebelled against practicing and reading music and never touched an instrument in front of my parents again. 😂 I can't play a lick, but I’d wear the heck out of that watch.

I had the predecessor to this Casio keyboard as kid back in the late 70s early 80s. I think it was the first electronic keyboard Casio ever made. It didn’t even have a piano like keyboard like this, just buttons arranged in a keyboard like formation. It’s claim to fame was that it was used by a German Industrial Rock artist/band on their one hit wonder song that climbed up the charts in the UK and Europe back in the (very!) early 80s. I remember watching the singer with said keyboard in hand performing on Top Of The Pops. I just wish I could remember the model number. I might still have it lying around somewhere, but haven’t used or even laid eyes on it in decades!

OMG. I used to have a g-shock that looked just like this when I was a kid but it was in yellow (it gave me a hell of a rash). Years later, I bought my first CD, Room for Squares. I learned to play like John Mayer learning through tabs (shout out to sympatico! If you know, you know.) I'm going to buy this just for the nostalgia it brings to my actual life. I love you John. Thank you for the last 20 years. Your music has impacted me more than I even know.

This is wild. I had this EXACT Casio PT-1 in blue when I was a little kid in the 80’s. The image of it and more so the sound bring back so many memories. I never even knew how to play piano, and what you could do with this little toy of a keyboard was extremely limited. But I used to love just fiddling around with it. It was laying around somewhere in my bedroom growing up for years and years. No idea where it ended up. Likely sold for a few bucks at a garage sale. But who knows, it could still be up in my parents’ attic.

I had one of those as a kid in the 1980s. My mother found it and gave it to my stepbrother (a musician) 2 yrs ago for Xmas. He was politely bewildered at the joke. If only this had come out first! 😂 I would have gotten him the matching watch! 🆒

I used to love those 2 big buttons at the top right corner. If you had a sloppy performance recorded...never fear...you could replay the steps using those 2 buttons! Maybe speed it up or leave a note late for that dramatic effect.

I know this is going to sound crazy but just before the release of this watch, when I saw the photo teaser of a Casio keyboard on Hodinkee a thought came to me. "Wow, this is awesome, John Mayer is collaborating with Casio and Hodinkee to come up with a new mini keyboard. I hope it has a few extra features that John would've liked to see when he was a kid." The watch actually looks great but I was sooo...disappointed!
