Copyright, and intellectual propriety laws in general, are not made to protect small creators, they are made to protect the interests of big companies, and it's going to destroy everything creative in the Internet

Honestly, fear of copyright has kept me from doing a lot of different things here on YT. I've gone into production on a few different videos talking about different series, and every time I do there's another story of a creator getting fucked over due to "copyright infringement". Japan has absolutely no chill or concept of fair use, and can't seem to get the idea in their heads that their laws stop at the ocean that boarders their little shitstain of an island.

I've been thinking this for a while. I'm glad to see that someone else is thinking this even if took a shitstorm. Hope things get better. Hope KZfaq are held accountable.

I personally think they shouldn't be able to claim a video outright, without input from a creator. They should have to submit a claim, with section/percentage of the video they're claiming (so royalties). And then within lets say 15-30 days the creator has to get back to them to either agree with the claim, letting them copyright claim the agreed upon percentage of ad revenue (or if the request it is taken down). And if the creator refuses they can either submit a counter offer (incase they try and claim the whole video when they shouldn't), Where the claiming company would get a time period to respond. If after the time period is up, then and ONLY then will to become disputed and ad revenue freezes until it's resolved. That way creators can't just straight copyright, but are given enough time to agree or disagree with the claim before losing income. Wordy, but tldr is there should be a buffer period between a company copyright claiming a video and the claim being confirmed. Allowing creators to dispute it before ad revenue is being effected.
