That Germany somehow managed to piss of everyone. First, they ruined Austria-Hungary's restoration. Then they released them as puppet. Then they invaded Poland, only to eventually gain no land and release them as a puppet. Then they didn't invade the USSR, betraying themselves, only to invade them and piss me off due to my ethnicity. Then, they failed themselves once again, when the Italians got all of France. Which, not to mention, they nearly lost to along with Poland. I was finally happy, for more reasons than I can count, when the video ended with the Allies holding Brittany, which means it was on a good not. On the other hand, the other world was stuck in a forever warz with Geans proggreaing on one front and allies on the other, before eventually being pushed back and the front remaining a stalemate. If Operation Valkyrie happened here, I wouldn't be surprised if their demands were met.

You really should have option to release nation without giving up your cores...

In some cases if you wait long enough (around 48) Germany starts to release puppets,and that can happen with historical AI on.

My non-historic games: France chills, Germany fights itself and restores the monarchy, Hungary pursues Greater Hungary, Yugoslavia gets eaten by Italy, Italy capitulates to France, the UK decolonizes, Franco loses, the US goes Fascist, Japan goes neutral, China dies 4 separate times, Germany gets Prussia back, the Soviets declare war on Germany and the West, Soviets capitulate to the Central Powers and then the Central Powers capitulate to the Allies. The world is now Democracy.

I agree, and sometimes it feels like Germany is almost unfairly strong. Yes, irl they took over most of Europe but mostly it was because of brilliant strategies, not raw military power (ahem Blitzkrieg, Ardennes). At the time, Russia was severely underdeveloped compared to the rest of Europe and its high command had been murdered meaning they had no real direction, but as shown irl, Germany really had no chance of winning when against a fully industrialized, competent Russia. In HOI4 they get rid of their debuffs and become the strongest industrial powerhouse in the world and they STILL lose against the German AI, how the fuck?

Italy needs some love from Paradox as well, IMHO. It's smaller than the basic one. Even damn Mexico got rework

I'd make something like this with ideologies: 1) Down with the whole "Democratic-Communist-Fascist-Unaligned" system. Better looking with "Liberal-Socialist-Fascist-Conservative" 2) Each ideology has its own list of policies and options for implementing some policies of neighbouring ideologies 3) Each ideolody is split into two: 4) Liberal gets Left-Wing Liberal if you want to take some Socialist options (aka American, social-focused view on being liberal) and Libertarian if you want to implement some Conservative policies (aka European, market-focused view on being liberal). 5) Conservative gets Liberal Conservative (your average respectable right-wing politics not unlike American Republicans) for getting Liberal options and Social Conservative (representing far-right politics and wannabe-fascists) for some Fascist ones. 6) Fascist gets Traditional Fascist (the "milder" fascist regimes like Frankoist Spain, Dolfuss Austria or Kingdom of Italy) for Conservative choices and Radical Fascist (more extreme fascist countries like, say, Nazi Germany or Italian Social Republic) for Socialist ones. 7) Socialist gets State Socialist (tankies akin to Stalin, Mao or Trotsky) getting a handful of Fascist options and Social Democratic (or Libertarian Socialist, if you like, all-along being simply less authoritarian version of Socialism) getting a handful of Liberal ones. It doesn't cover some of the stranger situations in European politics (like the early Social Democratic Sweden being very authoritarian with secret police units, fierce anti-communism and Eugenics laws thus posing it less to my chart Social Democratic focus and more towards the State Socialist one), but I find it a bit more interesting.

I think there should be just 6 ideologies: democracy, dictatorship, monarchy, fascism, communism, anarchy. It would be more than enough imo.
