I really appreciate the advice! Especially when it comes to Italy and the puppet trolling. I’ll do some tests on the reinforce old alliances focus to see if that helps you get those guarantees. I get why you’ve played decentralized yugo so many times. This was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in hoi4. It just feels so good to tear yourself apart, and then turn into one of the most powerful nations. 10/10.

While you’re are right, by the time I annex them, most of the puppets go through enough of their focus trees that they actually do most of their industry branches before I get the chance to annex them. I’ll take 2 chances for more factories over 1 any day.

Yeah, something happened in the Nordic update that made Romania weird. I’ve seen them go to war against hungry in historical and join the allies far too many times since then. I’ll probably update this guide, but I’m really just hoping a game update comes out and fixes Romania.

THIS is exactly what happened to me in three tests. Still can meme the shit out of them at the port, but until the border over at slovenia/croatia is weak enough to start an offensive it's almost impossible to finish the war pre-end of 1938 and italy joins the axis...

New update changed some things. Revert to avalanche game version if you want similar results to what I got in the vid. I’m coming up with an updated strat, but it may be a while before I have time to do so.

I’ve noticed that Romania joins the axis earlier too now. I wonder if paradox changed something recently in the Romania AI code. If Romania does its Axis alignment focus, they will join the axis immediately after. If you can prevent them from doing that focus, they won’t join the axis (most of the time). Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do though. Just cap them quick, and use paratroopers if you have to.

yea really unexpected. Anyway to circumvent the problem I made a claim on Romania together with Greece, and Greece should fall fast.

it would be easier to get montenegro in, there you only have one tile, a littler bottleneck, to defend instead of two, i just had this, that there is a little gap where a titalian divion went straight to my capital. with mazedonia you need two tiles to defend

If Germany does an early war with you, I’d just hold, try to beat Romania slowly, and then maybe even join the Soviets. Did the USSR guarantee you?

It’s a shame you now have to fight the Germans with Italy as your ally or that’s at least how i did it. I do not understand why they made Hungary station troops on their victory points, they just love to see us suffer. On the other hand france still doesn’t, if they just had someone in Paris it wouldn’t work with them anymore either

72 27wdths (9infantry-3arty) to push, and the bulk of my army is 18wdths of pure infantry with support arty to just hold the line. The main reason I can push though is I have tons of CAS.

“Satisfying puppet and country names” is another i use often. Most of what I use is Ironman compatible so there’s not many out there.

Without watching you play, I can’t tell you what you are doing wrong. All I can really say is, be patient. Micro is king, don’t field marshal attack. Using zara to wipe Italian units out is incredibly helpful, especially since the Italian ai will pull troops off your border to guard the port. Attack when you see a weak spot in the Italian army, use troops to pin. Don’t play on max speed, go down to speed 2-3 at most. Italy has more manpower than you, more factories, and even sometimes German volunteers, so they will always have troops. When they attack you, wait till they run out of org, then you attack. Avoid the mountains as best you can, they suck to fight in. Once Italy loses a core, they will automatically start down the path to a civil war, so worst case scenario, just hold. Push slowly once you feel confident. I promise you, it’s not hard at all.

Bourbon Spain was the most difficult achievement for me to get. Idk why I can do anarchist Spain easily, but playing as the carlists are just the worst. Ethiopia is a ton of fun and I plan on making a few vids on them for sure.

Yeah it’s also dumb that you already have them as a puppet too. So if you forgot that and didn’t call them in, you d have to do it all over

Paradox changed Italy’s code a bit so now they navel invade even if they have a border with you. It’s dumb but I get it.

I promise you it’s not. If you follow this guide exactly, you’ll fail. You’re gonna have to fail a few times and tweak this strat to make it work. I’ll eventually update it, but yeah, it’s a lot harder now.

Don’t take Zara and they shouldn’t navel invade you because the ai sees you have a front open with them there already. You can also make a cheap port guard if need be.

Yugo is seriously underrated. It can be so OP and is always a ton of fun. What was the strat you used?

@@thetibbiesshow So first of i didn't go for civil war, i turned comunist so i can generate manpower and be aligned with soviets (i did that to perserve equipment). Then Rush for 1936 light tank, i equiped him so he can have: 1)max amount of armour (level 9 armour + sloped armour + welded armour) 2)It can keep up with cavalary (goes 6,4 km/h) 3) 3 man touret + radio + close support gun So idea behind it is you know how people use space marines, now early on i use space cav (6 battalions of cav + 1 light tank) take 3 factories for production of light tanks and build more mills so you can produce AA, artilery, guns, and support equipment. For additional offensive units train 3 mouintanier divisions 20 width (Since entire Italy is just a giant mouintain) Than realese through focus Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia, but do not realese montenegro, beacouse i want Italian navy ( I am kinda guy that loves naval stuff). Before you release subjects train as much divisions as you can so you can suck their manpower back, than cancel all training of all those divisions. Next justify on Albania, and go to war with Albania and Italy in the process, As you capitulate Albania you will get 4000-7000 Guns witch will help with deficit. Important thing with war with Italy is man your ports against naval invasions and use your space cav and mountainers agressivly. Now obviously i am not gonna talk how each division moves, you have to manage that on your own, but in my case i capitulated italy by the end of february 1939 and lost in the end 44K man, witch is improvment compared to my last playthrough where i lost 110k man in war with italy. Next up, Justify at Hungary and Bulgaria. What i noticed is that at this point of 40-50% world tension if you declare war as a comunist nation on either Hungary, Bulgaria or Romania and you call either one of your communist puppets they will join Axis. So dont realese Vojvodina before the end of war with Hungary. War with Hungary is no brainer, just rush B Bulgaria is no brainer, rush B, just in the name of god DO NOT CALL macedonia Puppet them all, obviosly you can get cores out bulgaria and hungary Justify on Romania and now there is a problem, for a mounth in game time they will join the axis after my justifican is over so what i do? I noticed that Romania for some stupid reason never guards bulgarian border, i built 100 transport planes 400 fighters and single battalion of paratropers. Create 2 collabaration goverments in Romania, so they can more quickly capitulate. Now i declare war, i dont call anyone, and then i paradrop my units on Bulgarian-Romanian Border near Buchurest, transport my troops across the river, Rush B, and paradrop where ever you see fit. Give Transylvania either to Transnistria or Hungary, Dobruja to Bulgaria, and the rest as you see fit. Its, mid 1940,in less then 15 days Romania capitulates. And that's the run, kinda long explanation, but now you can kill Germany, Allies , Japanese, Chinese united front, AND MAKE WHOLE WORLD COMMUNIST. Tito will be proud.

It definitely would work, but I found that Germany without Romania, Italy, hungry, and Bulgaria is very easy. But honestly, as long as you annex Austria, you could probably never have to even enter ww2. Could be the play. Not a bad idea at all! If I ever update the guide, I think I’ll go with your idea actually.

Yeah, when paradox released arms against tyranny, they changed the Italy civil war code in some way. Revert back to the game version avalanche and the guide will work because that’s the game version the guide was made for.

It’s both my favorite thing and least favorite. If I’m fighting them, I love it, if I’m Italy I hate it.

Yeah, I was very misinformed about them losing the guarantee after France falls. It’s like 50/50 if the French with guarantee you or not. You could always beat the Germans and Romania once they join the axis, and then beat the Soviets for Bessarabia. It’s a little more work, but it’s doable.

@@thetibbiesshow I restarted to understand that the game screwed me over. Apparently, the moustache man was too fast capturing Paris: after the capture he created a Vichy government, but «Free France» has never capitulated, that's why their guarantee stuck. After a re-run, he captured several coastal cities in Normandy and Picardie that with Paris resulted in an actual capitulation thus removal of the guarantee.

I’ve been hearing that a lot recently actually. I haven’t had a single game where Romania joins the axis so early, but I’ve heard enough people say they have that I think your idea is the way to go tbh

It’s always a good idea to have some troops ready for naval invasions, especially if fighting any of the Major Nations. Even basic 8wdths are good for port duties. If you keep the Italians distracted on Zara, they shouldn’t naval invade you, because in the eyes of the AI, they already have a yugo front open, so they’ll just send more troops there.
