There is an age-old argument about which is better NA or Supercharged, while we don’t want to try and solve it, we take a look at the different characteristics of two LS3 cars that took a different path to enhanced performance.

These guys did my ssv ute VF and NA kit exhaust etc and they are awesome guys, plenty of time to show you around and explain everything and the guy tuning in the video (dont know his name) was the guy that did my car and they are all cool and totally professional. I just wish I had more money to step up to the supercharged package, but then Id also need to start budgeting for tyres too.

I have a 2017 Chevy SS sedan aka VFII. I've been on the fence between SC and NA for more than a year. I already have a custom 427 block that can handle 1400hp, but I prefer the sound and grunt of the Harrop Hurricane. It's also a tad more challenging to install on a US left-hand drive. While not near as much bang for the buck; it would be a stand-out compared to SC builds. Aside from bragging rights, I'm not sure I would ever use the TVS2650 to it's potential, because I don't much care for 15-inch M/T's and race modified suspension.

@@mikejanson1939 Depending on your viewpoint. Here in the USA, I could not order a Holden Commodore from a Chevy dealer, so I had to order the Chevy SS Sedan. I have a hard enough time trying to explain the Chevy SS terminology, followed by the Holden factory thing'.

supercharged is better in the real world because you get more torque and the BWAAAAAAAA scream noise at higher RPMS but I would rather have an NA LS3 that can do 9000rpm

Interesting video... I’d be interested in the fuel economy differences between the 2 setups as well as general engine longevity. I’m assuming the boost from the supercharger will strain a factory LS3 more then a head and cam combo.

Nice vid, However, for the purpose of transparency it would be good if the performance shops (like Harrop)encouraged a trip to the local engineer for certification in order to make them roadworthy.

Hi HarropTV, I'm pretty impressed with the Supercharged numbers. A couple of questions. For comparison do you have the dyno graphs from before the modifications? Also, do you know why the torque/power cross over points are not at the same RPM? Thanks.

I like it! I just dont like somebody’s whining everytime i press the acceleration. And whoever said n/a ( depends what kind of you using engine ) more powerful than supercharged? Commonsense is not very common. Lol

Good video!What's the difference between your FDFI 2300 and the Magnuson Heartbeat FDFI 2300?With your 2300 kit, you haven't touched the valve train and heads have you?These stock hypereutectic pistons are good for about 410kW (according to GM), you guys are pushing way more than this. Have you guys had no issues with the stock items?Also, your 2300 kit produces more torque than the stock 6l80 transmission was built for.Have you guys had no issues with the stock transmission? Do you torque limit in certain gears?Lastly, how much of an increase to the average fuel consumption do you think one would see?

I dunno man, part of me loves the power delivery of a blower and the whine, but I'd also love the torquey rumbley feel of an NA engine. Depends how you want the car to feel I guess: noisey hoon car, or sleeper?

HarropTV and it doesn't suit to 6.2 engiene. That set up is amazing for ls7 and not for a ls3

@@jasonswift7098 I have an hsv clubsport sv black which has an ls3 engiene. The car builded by Nathan Higgins and horsepower factory in Melbourne. I know enough about this cars. I spoke with harrop about they manifold and they didn't recommend for an 6.2 L, just if it stroked.

It doesn't matter what "numbers" you pull on any dyno, it drives how it drives and a piece of paper can not change that..

H Maccas P.S. its not a dick pulling comp like a reach around, pull through kinda weasel like you would think.... a roller dyno sheet will just be a more accurate reading of what the car actually puts to the ground in everyday situations. Its fucking simple but not as simple as you by the sounds of it

Those hub dynoes are not accurate. I would much rather see the power figures with the wheels on as this will show the true number

Mr Mysterious Dynos are a tuning tool, what matters here is the difference between the power and torque curves of the two cars, tested under what one would assume were the same conditions. Btw on a chassis dyno you can get tyre slip/wheelspin, and it can also be affected by things like tyre compound and pressure. Arguments either way but I would expect that as a tuning tool hub dynos have more repeatable results.

revhead929 customers are getting dyno numbers that are basically theoretical or may as well be flywheel hp, and dude my mate dynos 900-1000hp rigs all day with no traction issues. As far as differences go, at an estimate your overpriced mods will help you punch 620hp at the hubs then throw tyres on and run it on proper dyno bet my left nut it will only pull around 580ish. Hope these guys are cheaper than walkinshaw performance anyway

A hub dyno will be always as, or more accurate than a chassis/rolling dyno. The tyres can slip on a conventional rolling dyno, which leads to errors in the numbers. Different wheel diameters can also make measurements inaccurate. If this is taken out of the equation, how on earth can a hub dyno be worse?

The only thing that matters is measuring stock versus upgrade on the same tool. Every dyno varies in measurement, but as long as you took the before and after on the same Dino, you will get an accurate idea of improvements.

NA would be 6k max. 2300 fitted with supporting mods would be 15k minimum.

@Evo Shift Because insurance companies like to find excuses not to pay. Increasing engine power increases their risk. If they know up front then they can either tailor your premium or decline your business.

@Evo Shift its a great comment, most insurance companies won't insure a V8 if you add a supercharger, turbo or nos. Unless it's standard from the factory, lsa motors. If you find one that will, your paying for it alright.

Lol in aus when max speed is 120km and an turbo ecotec beats most turbo v8s on that speed why go a v8 idk unless you want noise. Supra and skyline are 20 year old engines that make power for less money than an LS god forbid your in an non ls commodore country and even then spending 50k+ on a 15k piece of shit
