Join the Los Angeles Chapter, A.G.O. and the Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society as we join together to host organist Mark Herman at the Wurlitzer in Bandrika Studios.

As ever with these recitals, the commentary added to the music. This concert was a great chance to show the versatility of a theatre organ: theatre style and church style in one program. The beauty of streaming: a much wider audience than just LA. I'm in Australia (and have been to LA).

Oh my. I studied organ when a girl. For various reasons I wasn’t able to continue, and I miss it so much. I love the organ because it goes straight to the heart. Thank you for this.

An entire recital memorized. Amazing. Very great performance. Not to mention that the cymbal rolls crescendo and decrescendo. Impressive.

I first became acquainted with this instrument with the end theme to "A house with a clock in it's walls. I had to look it up. There's a great documentary about it and the Bandrika studios other restored self playing items. A must watch. I never tire of listening to the Wurlitzer!

I'm glad you liked it! I used a matched pair of Neumann km-184 cardioid small-diaphragm condenser mics fed into my Mac with a good quality interface/pre-amp and a tiny bit of EQ applied using Logic Pro X (Apple's digital audio workstation software). The voice from from a lapel mic, and I need to learn how to better avoid sound transfer from the lapel's mic cord rubbing against my jacked. I'm sure there's a KZfaq video explaining that...

It may also help that the performance is uploaded and made available rather than being live. Live KZfaq feed performances can be plagued with problems stemming the speed of the feed, internet packet delays, collisions etc.

Mark, superb work. The "Dance" is perhaps the best recreation since George's recording, and kudos to you for giving him inspirational credit on "Jingle Bells." The Wurlitzer just can't get any better! Registrations are all on-spot. What a musical treasure you are for our very special--and somewhat overlooked--art. Here's to a great 2021 and a calendar filled with concerts in front of live audiences!

This instrument has a great celeste stop. The Vox humana is very good too. Great concert and very enjoyable. Clearly expert musicianship.

Love the sound and music. When I was in college, 50 years ago, I helped work on three different theatre pipes organs, although I don't play any keyboards. I did all sorts or electrical work. Sadly all three theatre are now torn down and the organs lost to all.

Everything you heard is from pipes, except for the percussion. The percussion is actual instruments, played pneumatically.
