This brings to mind my mother's "Cherry Winks". They had Corn Flakes in them too. She made them every Christmas when we were kids. Sweet memories.

Made these cookies 10 minutes ago and disappointed that the cookies didn't come out right. The dough was like soft whipped cream with all that butter and shortening. That tells me that the recipe needs more flour. When you make them add 1/2 cup more, then test the batter by baking 1 cookie as a sample. If it's too flat then add more flour to your dough. The first wrong batch came out super-thin and flat like a pancake. Fell apart when putting them on the cookie sheet. I decided to add more flour to the 2nd batch, much better. The cookie came out like Paula's. OMG these cookies are incredible... sweet, very delicate and crunchy and buttery. A new favorite now. The cookies reminded us of Kettle corn that you buy at the fair.

Hi Paula, Christmas was always LOADED with cookies, cakes,pies,and all kinds of sweets. One thing I remember the grandmothers making were called Rosettes. It requires a series of iron "molds" that were dipped in a batter then the batter was dipped in hot oil. As it got fried it would drop off the mold. They stayed in the oil only a few minutes. They were pulled out when lightly brown and after they cooled a little....thrown into or dusted with powdered sugar. Plates of these were gone in no time. When you said cornflakes cookie I was thinking about the cornflake wreaths my family made during the holidays when I was young lol

I made these cookies and they turned out great!! Very different than any cookie I’ve ever made. Usually I use just butter and of course at least one egg. Yes, these are delicate when they come out of the oven, but they do firm up and don’t fall apart when they’re cooled. My family loves these! I’m so glad Paula raved about them because I doubt I’d ever make them. Cornflake cookie sounds weird to me, but they are now one of my new favourites too!

Oh man we had had these cookies in our family for ever... over 65 years of cornflake cookies not only the holidays ... what a great thing to share with the world! Enjoy you won’t find a better favorite !

Made these last week and they were the biggest hit I’ve ever had on something!! My family hasn’t enjoyed something new I’ve made this much in a long time!!! In fact, at least 10 years ago, I made Paulas Mystery Pecan Pie! It was so loved that now my sister in law brings it to every Thanksgiving and Christmas get together! I was always requested to bring it for 3 or 4 years...finally she took over(but only because they didn’t want me to have any excuse to not bring my Mommas Sweet Potatoes, made with pineapple and lots of butter and brown sugar!)! If y’all haven’t tried these yet you must!!! Absolutely delicious!!

Miss Paula, have you ever seen the original London Bridge that is the reason for the song ? It's located in Lake Havasu City Arizona. The founder of the town bought the bridge because it was sinking into the Thames River and was to be destroyed. He bought it, and had it shipped to the United States, piece by piece, and it was fully reassembled in Lake Havasu City. It stands to this day, and I have a friend who lives there in town. She has shown me that bridge when we've been on a video call, and it's gorgeous. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend going to see it. These cookies are amazing!

Paula, I used to make a cornflake cookie for my children when they were little. It was like the rice Krispy cookies but you used green food coloring and made little wreaths out of them and used red hot candies to decorate them. They were adorable and the kids loved them. My children have grown up and now their children are grown. My oldest granddaughter is now a school teacher and teaches special education. She loves those children with learning disabilities. She is so intelligent she finds different ways to help the children learn their lessons. My youngest granddaughter is now a sophomore in high school. She herself has learning disabilities. Your grandchildren will love help making the cookies. It's easy to find the recipe online. It's the one Kellogg's put out.

I agree with DeAndre. I watch her make her holiday family recipes and her laughter just makes me feel happy.

My mother made a similar cookie back in the 50’s but used salted peanuts rather than pecans. They were delicious! I’ve been looking for the recipe and will give this one a try!

I saw you do the Kitchen Sink cookie today and you mentioned this one. I have one that is more like the kitchen sink but has chocolate chips instead of the heath chips. I also roast my pecans, coconut and I flatten a bit with a glass. The best cookie!

Cool Paula great ideas to do 🎅 cookies

I baked these cookies this morning and they taste really good. Unfortunately, I had some problems with them. Maybe it could be my oven but 12 minutes was too short of time and even at 14 minutes still weren't done. Also I left them on the sheet after taking them out of the oven to firm up. If you don't they will crumble when you put them on your cooling rack. Again they are yummy and worth trying. Let me know if you have some other advice, maybe I missed something. Thank you Paula and Phillip.

I just made a batch of these, with frosted flakes and they are beyond delicious ! The only problem i had was they were so flaky they crumbled apart, even with adding more baking time. Is there anything i could do to prevent this the next time, cause these will be a staple in my house !

I would love you to do the potato chip cookies! A friend of mine’s grandmother used to make these chocolate covered candies with Ruffles chips and peanuts (and some other stuff.) The sweet and salty combination was out of this world. I bet those cookies you were talking bout are great!

I've made these. There is also coconut in my recipe. They're fantastic. The recipe was in a birthday card my daughter received when she was five years old, 40 years ago. The name on the recipe is Crunchy Birthday Cookies.
