I think that it is in good taste that when you don’t like something you laugh and say not for me 👍😉. Other foodies just say yuck… this is gross. Anyway I think these dishes looked delicious and nice and light. ❤

Plating and presentation is very sophisticated on a lot of the dishes! Holland really seems to do a wonderful job in both taste and overall look of their dishes!

Yes that was a tasty vegetarian dish! Though it might not fill you up, so it's best to accompany it with another dish, or two of them.

This show is definitely amazing ..the editing and production is masterfully presented..not just rough hip hop bang ..here..watch...the tunes are well continental selected and compliments the cruise experience atmosphere for all with interest in taking a cruise...my kitchen thanks you also for the continental cousins ideas we can create in our daily routine

Joann‘s reviews are so marvelous. I get so excited to hear what she has to say with each dish! Honestly, I don’t think just one dish caught my eye any more than the others. They all look fantastic. I did notice though, that many of the dishes were graced with celery purée (the green sauce on the plate), and that excites me! The chefs on this cruise line seem to know exactly what they’re doing. All of this food looks right up my alley, though I’m a little sad there is an up-charge for lobster tails. For dessert, the opera cake caught my eye, as well as the cake after it that had whiskey (or rum) and espresso. That one seemed to hit the jackpot for Joann too! When she does that little head thing, you know it’s *GOOD!* 👍

Only about 60 days to go for our 10 day cruise to Mexico on the Koningsdam. We decided to upgrade to Club Orange. We think we might have a better vegan selection. However, everything looks very well made and elevated.

It seemed to me that the Club Orange served the same menu as the MDR with one ADDITIONAL entree on the Konigsdam. I will admit that the service appeared to be far superior

The food quality appears to be reasonably good, although the sophistication is well short of what had previously been offered. The one observation we made was the quantity of food served in the so-called dinner portions. All offerings seem to be appetizer sized. Good if you're watching calories, but who calorie counts on cruise?. I guess it serves the cruise line well in keeping the cost of food to a minimum to help that all-so important margin.

Certainly a few of the entrees were not big portioned, but the nice thing is that you can order multiple ones no problem.

Ok that beet soup looks too much like blood for me to try lol Also not a fan of the beet taste or the stains it makes on your cloths hah. Love the 'healthy' comment earlier ! Perfect LOL Aside from those 2 all the rest really looked good on this one! Any ship that has juicy and not dry roasted chicken is a winner menu imho! All the meats looked great.

Yeah that was probably the only soup from the main dining we couldn't finish- just too strong in beet flavor. And yes they did a great job otherwise for the most part. Thank you very much for the comment! 😊

Thank you very much! 😊 There were a few misses (e.g giving us a hard time about ordering the creme brulee), but otherwise very good and friendly service. How was your experience?

@@TravelTouristVideos Last December, I would estimate that they were 10 people short. The service was professional but rushed. You had to order everything upfront or risk never seeing your waiter after dessert was served.After six cruises on six lines, it is hard to go wrong on HAL or Celebrity.

Yeah that was our experience too, but it's pretty typical. Sometimes they'd come and ask if you'd want coffee, but most of the time not. We were doing the anytime dining, but the traditional set table dining option usually has better, more personalized service.

At about$150 per day times two people it would be fun to shop at a grocery store and cook with that sort of budget.

Cruise rate includes of course more than just food, but yeah that sort of money can get you some nice ingredients to cook.

When you go on a cruise longer than seven days, do they start to repeat or do they have different menus??

In the MDR they will actually have a different menu even for after 7 days, though some of the dishes seem to be repeated and a few have slight variations. There were many unique dishes though, so kudos to HAL for having good variety even for longer cruises.

Would you say that Holland America Line leads the cruise industry in overall food quality in both the buffet and main dining room or are there others that are better in your opinion?

It's subjective, but they're definitely up there among the major cruise lines. For us, probably yes by a hair. Only complaint would be that they no longer have a lobster night. But the food on the Celebrity newest Edge-class ships and Cunard were really excellent as well. Princess probably would be up there too though we haven't had the chance to cruise with them for a couple years. Carnival's buffet is not that great, but their main dining is quite good, and they have some tasty comfort food eateries as well.
