Im not afraid was about him being brave and standing up to ppl who judged him. While im so afraid was him hiding who he was to the world and ppl around him bc its a scary place so he wanted to go to Neverland to escape with his lover and have a nice time without being judged.

THEORY: “I’m not afraid” and “I’m so afraid” are like parallel universes. Parts of songs sound the same but at the same time a different ring. “I’m not afraid” was Holland embracing who he is. Example: Holland is being himself and is expressing his love interests without fear of how people would react, because it contradicts with what others think. While in “I’m so afraid” he is scared to be his self because of the ideal vision of society. Example: The female dancer represents Holland, as they are wearing the same clothes. When she kisses her reflection it shows self love, but after she is confused. They might have chosen a female dancer due to the fact many Koreans think that a relationship is just bound between male and female. If you compare the concept between the 2 music videos they might seem completely different. “I’m not afraid” is about acceptance, while “I’m so afraid” is about self doubt. People in the LGBTQ+ community want to express and accept there selves but sometimes they are scared on how society/family/friends will react and if they will accept them. I have a little theory In Neverland MV he wanted to go a place where no one can judge and he can live peacefully with his partner. In I'm not afraid MV the world is created by him in his mind ,it's like he's dreaming .He was enjoying the atmosphere of that world where no one is judging him and he can freely do whatever he want. But in last seen he opened his eyes it's like he is awaken from the dream In I am so afraid MV he is in reality where he is alone and something like, he is facing the harsh reality of society.he fear that his friends turned against him or won't love him . The interpretive dancing itself expresses to me trying to free oneself but at times being held back. The song is similar to I'm Not Afraid but because of the drop it is meant to sound intimidating and darker, things often associated with fear. The visuals were beautiful and not as vibrant but instead more dulled and less flashy to express the seriousness of being afraid to be oneself or express yourself openly without hate. Truly I loved this song and the vibe and Holland so creative and truly showing beautiful artwork and music.

So, theory time!!! I think the forest in both mvs could meant holland's "me time" like how he sees himself, like the "real me" And in this mv, the girl in bright vibrant city could meant "*how society works*" like, only girls are allowed to love boys. That's why it's mostly girl in this mv. "I'm so afraid" because i must be female, but i'm not. In i'm not afraid however, we see holland being himself in the party. This could mean that it is his "*comfort zone*" kind of? Like a place where he can express himself being himself without fear of being judged. And it must be the lgbtq+ community. And the reason why it's only one person in this mv is because it's a world where holland cannot understand, a world holland cannot imagine. That's why they're no one. While in i'm not afraid mv, he find himself able to understand, able to imagine. That's why there a lot of people there. Now back to the forest. In i'm not afraid, holland is actually sleeping/ staying still all the time. While in this mv, he's moving / dancing. Meaning that the world he's working/ walking right now is actually in this mv. And the i'm not afraid mv doesn't happen/ not exist. (It also explain why he's really sad in the forest. Because he know it.) I'm not sure tho. I got 50 for my last math exam, so please don't expect me being a genius 😝😝

Holland's voice really improved from his first Mv. Its still soft and a bit fragile(?) but its smoother now. I really like the song and it totally suits my style! Lots of beat and a soft melodic voice.

My theory: Holland is waking up in this forest which is the continuation of the mv "I'm not afraid anymore" and I feel like it's his way of saying how him not being afraid is the world he wants, to be able to express himself freely with no shame and just be himself, a world were everyone can be who they want and accept their own sexuality and the way they are; but in fact, this, is his reality, were he's scared and there's no one around him. It can also mean how he may show he's not afraid to the world (by coming out when he wanted to debut) however, in his mind, he actually fears the world. Then we also see him in this forest and there's this portal (?) to another world, in a completely different place as Holland, and there is this girl with short black hair, wearing the same shirt as Holland which is styled the same way, and then as the beat peaks up, she starts dancing to it, and the way she moves around made me think of it representing holland's emotions and thoughts, like how they are moving around crazily and sometimes he may feel lost or have the desire to run or ... (basically, the girl dancing is kind of like how he feels inside) At the end of it, we see how it's like she's dancing with someone, but then she stops and covers her eyes, and then we see Holland doing the same thing, and that's when I understood it. The girl is the person the world wants Holland to be, that girl is the person that maybe even Holland wanted to be at times cause if he were a girl, everything would have been much easier, he wouldn't have to be judged or be left alone just because he likes boys (and that is why the girl is like completely the opposite of him) But nevertheless, it's still him at the end, which means no matter how much the world wants him to change, he is still himself. Also, I would like to add that, the fact that we see him all alone might be due to the fact that this is something he must face alone and overcome by himself. Nonetheless, Holland did an amazing job of conveying his message in such a brilliant way that leaves other people, perhaps thinking about this, people who may also wish for a world the same way Holland does.

Holland is so strong, currently, I've told my mom I was bisexual and she told me she'll accept me when I have experienced love. Because of this I just, don't talk about it nomore. As time goes on I find myself more attracted to Girls then guys. I would love to tell her but....fear of judgment is still present.

All I could feel while watching it, is how unaware and detached the girl dancing looks from the scenario, you know? She looks like free but in her own world. It gives me a strange feeling, a mix of fear and disconnection.
