Yay for nurses! I'm in nursing school right now and graduate next fall. Being a CNA is so great and definitely prepares nurses for their career. I've been a CNA for 6 years on a cardiovascular unit. I got my CNA certification my senior year of high school. Great tips! Good luck!! 😊😊

Chewing gum when you study, then chew the same type & flavor of gum when you test is helpful... Also there is something about cinnamon flavored gum/candies that help you remember. My psych teacher told us this and I tried it. May be some sort of placebo effect, but it worked for me lol! Thanks for the tips! Good luck with everything...

Great video! I graduate in December with my BSN and these tips were perfect for people who are just starting! Good luck with school, like you said take it day by day. In the end all the long nights and stressful weeks are worth it and the right people will be by your side the day you graduate.

you should definitely do a separate nursing vlog... I've just started my first year in Scotland and there's a few nursing channels that kept me going through the whole process, would be great to see more of them :) there are basically none in the UK :(

I love your videos! Tip #9 is super helpful because I have a friend who keeps telling me if I cared about her I would make the time to hang out with her. It's really stresses me out and makes me feel guilty because I want to please my friend but in the back of my mind I know I need so much time to study for my classes to get those good grades. It's just overwhelming but I love your videos! You're so humble too! I love your vibe.

Tip #9 probably far is probably the most underrated but extremely pure wisdom and important! Having a great circle around you can make all of the difference in your success of what your trying to achieve. The wrong circle can lead you to fall short of the glory. #KEEP RANTING!!!!💯💯💯

I couldn't agree more, studying everyday for me has been life changing. Even if I am without adequate sleep at this time in my life juggling all these classes, it will be worth it in the end. Rather than cramming and not getting one bit of real 'sticking there' type information.

Thanks for the great info. I’m recovering from a serious life changing disease (neurological Lyme Disease) and through this disease I discovered my life’s calling is nursing. Your videos gave lots of info and to be honest scared me..... hoping I can do it. I’m binge watching your videos. Any advice for a brand new student. I haven’t started yet but I’m reading all I can and using it to rehab my brain back to where I was before I got sick. Nurses got me through some horrifying experiences and I want to be that support for others. You rock Holley!!!!

Hi, my name is Sharnae and i'm a nursing student as well, i started 29/09/16. it's really stressful and time consuming i hardly having time to talk to anyone but it's just my responsibility to socialize with other nursing students and seek out friends that won't waste time and are serious about nursing.Once i got friends i knew were serious we planned group all-nighters before exams and practice the skills as we go along the semester. it's really rigorous and requires your all but in the end it's worth it and i'm loving every second of it. :)

FYI, there are some programs like mine where you are admitted to nursing school the same time you're admitted to a university. I'm graduating with my BSN this May and I'm 21, I started in the program freshman year. We also don't have any clinicals until senior year and we have no nursing classes senior year (just 1 elective per semester), so senior year is full-time clinicals at the hospital. There are a lot of different formats of schooling throughout the country.

Holly is 1000% correct on Tip #1 which flows into Tip #2 .. We are working with my daughter on getting into College/Nursing school and we stumbled on to Pre-Admissions for Nursing. Most people (like me) do not understand that Colleges only offer so may spots per semester for Nursing.. Their may be 600 applying but each semester they may only take 150. Some smaller schools only take 50! This means 450 of you are out of luck and need to reapply next semester or also apply at different colleges. So for her to get a spot for admission she took some AP courses in High School which were needed to get a place at the able TWO YEARS from now! This was Alg 1 & 2, Geometry, Biology and Chemistry and ACT of min 21 plus 3.0 GPA

you are great parents and that is what I want to do for my daughter. Help her any way I can and research. (when the time comes) she is in a health and science school 6th grade. So we have a ways to go but never too early to instill good study habits and she already uses a planner.

I'm in an accelerated nursing program and it's very difficult. More tips would be to talk to your other classmates!!! They really are going to be your life and death partner when it comes to some of these nursing classes. I start clinicals next month, and you definitely will need them when the time comes. Also like Holley said, study study study!! Do NOT wait until the last minute to take quizzes or tests! Also, read those books they give you!! The Kaplan, NCLEX, and Saunders practice tests and quizzes are very difficult if you do not take this serious enough and study the material! It's exciting but it requires hard work. Good luck guys.

I am a sophomore in High School, My dream is to become a pediatric NP. I always am looking for ways to get ahead of my education and learn. I have enrolled and just got accepted into a program that is considered my secondary high school aside from my primary high school, that offers a course that you can can your CNA through. I know nothing as of right now because I do not start till this upcoming fall. However I have watched a few of your videos and taken notes on them, I feel they have given me a great deal of information that I can use to my advantage. The getting your classes done early is also good because once you hit 100 completed units at a community college, you lose priority registration......... Which is awful. It's hard enough to get into pre-reqs.
@amytobin16617 жыл бұрын
I think there's prerequisites no matter what type of nursing degree you go for. At least in Arizona, there are prerequisites for LPNs and 1-2 years for your associates and 2 for a bachelors. For our community college associates programs it's like a year of prerequisites and then 3 years on a wait list just for a 2 year degree.

Hey I love the way you explain everything I'm starting College Classes this spring 2017. I do plan on majoring on Nursing now I do have a question or 2. So, is it 2 years college and then 2 years for nursing to get your BSN OR is it 2 years college and then 4 years to get your BSN. Sorry if I sound ignorant but no one in my family went to college and I'm the first one and its all just new to me. Thank You.

It's different here. Prerequisite classes can take 2 or 3 years, then the nursing program is another 2 years. The BSN depends like 1.5 years or 2. There are accelerated programs. I live in California

Different nursing schools will have different pre-recs as well so make sure that you look at the required classes for ALL the different schools so you are planning to apply to! It isn't straight forward unfortunately and you don't want to miss out on a great program because you didn't take the right classes to be able to apply!

Hi I’m just watching this video know. And it might be a know answer already but I don’t, i was wondering do you have to go to a regular college before you do nursing school. Because my school has a nursing program through school you can take your junior and senior year of high school, and the program has a college you can take right after high school as well but not sure if you have to go to a regular college first or can go straight to nursing school. Please let me know. And love your videos they give you a heads up of what your getting yourself into and to be prepared instead of under prepared.

I'm currently starting my pre-nursing classes. I'm supporting myself and going to school full time. I was wondering if it would be best to drop a class or two and get a W (withdrawal) instead of a D or F which would affect my GPA. Obviously take those classes but later on when I have time.
