It's sad, because when somebody became a lier, her words lose all the weight and truth, even if they say "you have my word"; there words have no value anymore. I know it because I'm one of them.

I'm speechless. The lyrics remind me of Hanekawa from Monogatari and how she, like the girl in the clip, is trapped within her fake self, unable to surface. Like a spectator of her own life, watching her alternate, "ideal" self dictate her every action and word. 5min 20 of pure emotion. Absolute masterpiece, please make this an opening.

it is often the case if language you learn is not your mother tongue. English isn't my native language, I personally started to learn it like 2 years ago on my own and by now I can say for sure that my English grammar is kinda better than grammar of my mother tongue and I even can explain why I write something in English the way I wrote it and often I can't do the same when it comes to my native language, I really remember grammar points while my mother tongue... I just use it the habitual way not even thinking about rules and stuff but habitual way is not always a right way

Translation of lyrics 0:34 You said to me, "Finally you can live comfortably" 0:40 Looking back on it now, I realize what you said was a sweet trap. 0:48 Today I am still shaped by people's ideals. 0:55 For example, I am formed by fiction, false words, false images, false minds. 1:02 Someone who looks like honest is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. 1:07 The liar will now pretend to be the victim and start crying. 1:17 Oh, I want to escape from this miserable world of 3D. *You think so too, don't you?* 1:25 To virtualize a lie 1:27 It doesn't matter if it's an unscientific current situation or a fictitious statement, 1:33 give me love, love me. 1:37 Truth-telling words can no longer heal me. 1:41 Just stay by my side for a little while longer. I don't have enough love. The proof of my life is 1:45 wounds, wounds. 1:47 Doppelganger in the mirror, please take my place. 2:12 There was no more ephemeral word than "forever ." 2:16 If it hurts my heart this much, I don't care if it's fiction. 2:19 Of course I want to close my eyes. *You think so too, don't you?* 2:26 La La La... 2:44 You laughed at me next to the tilted balance and said, "There is no place for you anymore." 2:51 I wanted to go back to reality, but I can't go back anymore. 2:54 I didn't even know the weight of a single word. 3:01 You said to me, "Be my sacrifice." and I said to you, "Be my sacrifice." 3:06 My utopia has disappeared somewhere. and My ideal mirror has disappeared somewhere. 3:12 You revealed your true personality and gave me a fake smile. 3:23 You suck in lies over and over again, and then come up with new lies, right? 3:31 I can't become you who is just a vessel. 3:35 All of place is created by my ideal. and My current situation is all because of my ideal mirror. 3:52 I wanted to break this situation, but I couldn't. 3:56 Because my utopia was only here. and Because my ideal mirror was only here. 4:00 I reached out my hand for no reason, 4:07 *into the mirror.* 4:10 To virtualize a lie 4:12 An unrealistic reality and a non-existent mirror image. Give me back the fading boundaries. Please give me back. 4:22 Please give me a chance to try again. 4:26 The real me is here! 4:28 _that's not me that's my fake._ 4:30 Don't love the fake me. Please don't forget the real me. 4:36 I swear. 4:41 “I won't lie to you again. You have my word” The A and B written on 3:01, 3:06, 3:35, 3:56 means that, it can be understood as both A and B in Japanese. I’m a Japanese high school student. So my English may be poor. Please forgive me.

Minami is so underrated,her song is so good and it slaps a lot,but most of her fans are Japanese,she's not really well known globally.Thanks to Domestic no kanojo,she started to get quite a few attention globally,but she is still been overshadow by LiSA and a lot of singers because her song is only featured in one anime and not more,unlike others singers sang a lot of anime songs,I hope we get so see more of her songs getting featured in more anime.

The real meaning of "if I tried my very best, and be my ideal self, there will be nothing of me left"
@Noelciaaa
@Noelciaaa 2 жыл бұрын
I'd been listening to this song for years and I know that people tend to say "this song has saved me" a lot when it's not actually like that. But this one really did. The lyrics and powerful melody, your emotional voice, had shaken my soul up. Made me realise I'd been miserable because I tried to become that "perfect reflection". And I took the pledge "I won't lie to you again". It wasn't easy at first, of course. But now, years later, I've come very close to living as my true self, to becoming aware of what it is that I truly want, not what other people want me to be like. And I feel so much happier, the future seems bright. Thank you so much!

Lemon Tea? Haha my initial thoughts exactly. However there’s been studies done about how people who deal with depression often find comfort in melancholic/dark music, movies, books, etc. It can be cathartic for them because their internal struggles are perhaps validated and they feel less alone in their inner world. This song is so deep. We kill ourselves to fit in with others, satisfy others, and this process starts to create a new me. My understanding of this song. The girl in the white one-piece is the original girl. In order to fit in with others, she started to act differently, which created the new her; the girl in the black one-piece. This led her to create two personalities: The real her(white one-piece) and the fake her(black one-piece). Slowly, she loses her understanding of herself. She doesn't know if she was the "real" her or not. The "fake" girl took over and became the "original". The "real" girl was then trapped inside the "fake" girl. She attempts to gain herself back by killing the other "her", as shown towards the end. However, the image changes to the "real" girl getting choked by someone(probably the "fake"). Then, it switches back and forth until the "real" and "fake" girls are shown choking themselves. The "real" girl thought that by "killing" the "fake" girl, she can become herself again. But in the end, she ended up killing herself. Though we try to act differently to superficially satisfy others and blend into a larger group, it is only killing our true emotions and hiding them away, deep inside ourselves. What an accurate representation of society. This was very sad yet it was so relatable and beautiful. I love Minami san. Edit: Thank you all for all the likes. I didn't know so many people would like my comment. I just wanted to add something. To everybody reading this, I love you. And I promise you, more people out there love you too. You may think not, but you matter. Please be who you are. Please be who you want to be. Because that's what makes us unique individuals. It is never, ever wrong to be different. People shouldn't tell you who you have to be. That is for you to decide. No matter where you're from, who you used to be, who you are right now, or who you want to be, I love you. From the bottom of my heart, I hope that all of you have a happy day tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and forever on. Even though I'm a complete stranger, and you don't know who I am, please know that I deeply care about you. I hope this comment was able to make you smile and give you hope. :)

in my opinion, the black and white version of them is the real one. Why you create those new personality? coz your current personality created it and thus, it's also considered your real personality. LIke, when your personality changed when something happen. some people may say that you're not ur usual self and told you to be what you used to be. Because in your new personality, you tend to lie so you can blend in to the community. But in truth, those personality is actually your 'True' self. Coz your previous personality have met a certain condition that trigger the creation of this new personality. Why get confused at both of your personality? In the end, both of them are 'You'. 'We are what we are'. Even if your personality change, the one who trigger that change is your previous personality. Why should you get so confused thinking about it? sorry if i'm wrong.
@volvy1

@@Vorltzs dont be sorry bro everyone has hes own vision, for me what you said is true but when the condition that made you changed is very trivial and dont deserve to change then its a problem. 4 me if i changed for real reason then there is no fake side of me i just improved but if i have 2 of me, one is the real that i act when am home and with my self and another i act when I'm with fake friends or people i dont like so i do everything to make them dont go away from me because i need, want friends this is the problem so when i try to dont go with these guys or something like that i cant cause i did this for years so i cant go back now to my real one and if i did, ill lose a lot of good things cause my fake side has a good things even if its 2 or 3 it still that ill lose them. Sry 4 my poor english
@Vorltzs
@Vorltzs 3 жыл бұрын
@@volvy1 in the end, that's not really your fake self. You just created another category(not sure what to call it). And so, your list of categories will be: -friend -foe -family -(the new category(?)) How you act will differ to what category that person is in. So, is that really your fake self? And, i think it's not right(or rude?) calling your personality as 'Fake'.

@@Vorltzs I agree with you, a new personality appears because the experiencies you live change yourself. Although you realize that is not how you wanna be it is part of you. It is not fake or real it's all you. You can like it more or less, but this is what you are and you are in permament change. Anyways I love the vision of this song.

Anyone else think the moments she does speak English is prob the best part of the music in terms of lyrics, it just sounds amazing.And her English is really nice too.

You don't need to know the meaning of the lyrics to understand that she's hurt, she's mad and she also want to live..but it's so hard huh, being your true self, with out being judge. Guess we're all waiting for someone to see the true us. To see the real us and still accept. That is, if there's still someone out there.

stop waiting for someone to accept you and just go make money and self improvement, sure you might be hurt and dead inside, but its better to be hurt and dead inside and having money than being broke

this song is such a gem, the emotion behind it is ( I guess as usual for minami) incredibly powerful and I can feel like she means every word she says, absolutely beautiful

I've seen and heard cover after cover of this song but not one of them even approaches the sheer raw emotion and perfection of voice that Minami displays, genuinely captivated and bewildered.
