Yeah like, they had all the props available for the unexpected thing to happen. But it was fun nonetheless! I was as surprised as when John Belushi, fooling around with a real katana, actually cut a decent slice of bread/meat with it during the sketch.

@pronkb000 Because he've just spat soda over his partner's face and then emptied the remaining drink over her head, being all improvised. The fact that she didn't expect it, almost makes her to break character and that expectation is what makes Hayder laugh. Is pure genius.

it's specially great with Hader because he is usually really good at not breaking character. It's rare to see him very visibly laugh. Usually when Hader starts laughing I do too because what happened is genuinely funny.

I just saw an interview where Bill said it was scripted and this is actual from rehearsal. When he did the spit take live, he missed and no one laughed. So it ruined the sketch and they played the one from rehearsal instead.

There's another interview with a Hollywood celebrity. And their routine is pretty much the same. Then Bill spits his drink (again?) at Kristen and I laughed. But maybe that interview came before this one because in this one it looks like Bill was trying to top the amount of liquids deposited on Kristen.
