Today my cat, Delilah, passed away. Kidney failure. My mother named her after this song when we found her and she’d been a member of our family for over 12 years of my life. She passed away in my arms as I gently sung this song to her and let her know how much I love her and how much everyone loves her. I’ve been trying to breathe and think, but I wanted to just leave a comment here for her. Just a thanks for helping us give her a wonderful name.

I was really young, maybe around first grade, when this song came out. I had this ragged old stuffed animal beagle as long as I remember. When the song came out, I was so in love with it whenever it played in my mom's car that I named the stuffed animal Delilah. And yes I still have that stuffed animal to this day. some will see it as immature. I was almost 14 when this came out...and now it's 14 years old. You never realize how much of a baby you are at 14 until you see 14 years go by. As far as I'm concerned, there are no years when we're kids -- we just go to school, worry about homework and tests, play and hang out with friends, there is no concept of time other than the first and last days of school. We didn't care about time. Now we actively see time - dreading Monday at work, wishing it's Friday, for some it's seeing your own kids grow up, our parents getting old, experiencing relationships and counting anniversaries. If there's any 14 year olds in the comments - cherish your youth. Life goes fast once you graduate college.
