@@Imsaved777 I think mine is that way.. because I bought my Rock of Ages bible before it became a "cool".. bible to own... when I found mine close to 30 years ago.. it was buried on a shelf between a bunch of other bibles... it's like no one wanted to talk about it... I had never heard of a "Plymouth".. bible.. let alone this one... when I got it home.. I leafed thru it... but compared to my OTHER study bibles.. this one was Lacking in notes... so it sat on my bible shelf buried behind a bunch of my bibles for close to 30 years.. until I started seeing these videos.. and I said to myself. ."Hey, I think I have that bible".. I am sure I didn't pay much more than 60.00 for mine.. as the Christian bookstore.. was more than happy just to unload it... I really love that goatskin look with the 4 markers.. and the fancy gold printing.. and hubs.. but is it worth me forking out close to 200.00 more for the exact same bible.. which I barely look at?.. Hmmm probably not.. but it does look tempting... maybe I will find one floating around on ebay like that high dollar one for 60.00 If so... I would not mind buying it even if it had someone else's name written in it...

Can you give any examples off the top of your head? That's disheartening to hear.

@@KillerofGods I will have to go back into their study notes.... By "liberal"... I don't necessarily mean they are wrong... but..... by "liberal".. I was referring to them being broader in their scope.. or more generally speaking.... in their doctrinal teachings. .I will have to pull out the Holman's once again... but I believe what I was trying to convey... is that (as many bible reviewers on the web have stated regarding certain bibles... especially.. Frisch)....that the contributors.. seemed to "ride the fence" in their doctrinal notes..in order Not to be offensive to some.. and when someone .. holds back their theology.. in order to sell more bibles I consider that "liberal".. Not necessarily heretical.. but. ."playing it safe".. by printing the same info that other study bibles have used before them.... as I said... give me a little time and I will share some points with you...

@@KillerofGods one thing I can share .. even just from watching this video...if you listen to the video around the 10:18... minute mark... even the reviewer says... being that there is an article written in the bible called "in praise of a classic... (referring to the KJV)... the reviewer...did not find much praise for the KJV in the article written meant to praise the KJV...that is a first sign something is amiss.. with the notes.. IMO .. . it is very easy to tell when notes are written in certain bible translations by authors who do not Use that translation as their go to translation........one gets the feeling that they aren't "all in"... or committed to the work at hand..... another thing to look at critically are study bibles that ONLY re-iterate what the bible text states... without explaining it in too much detail... for example....if the text reads "flowed like crimson"..... and you look at the note .. and the note says... "crimson is a shade of red"... did that help you understand the passage?..

@@KillerofGods looking down on this page I see that I wrote.. regarding the Homan's stance on the complementarian and equalitarian stance... you understand the difference in these views... correct...? the complementarian view is that God created woman to be his helpmeet... to compliment man.. but Man was given authority in places such as households and family...with the woman.. there to help... NOW in this day and age.. woman want to be equal to man.. they wish to compete with man.. not be his helpmeet but to be equal and independent from man.. in their desires.. and fancies. THIS equalitarian view.. is a liberal view of the man /woman/ family dynamic... and THAT is how the Holman views marriages to be...but they do Not come flat out and say this... it can be found in what they say or do Not say...throughout their notes... I would have to find the exact places and share with you what would be deemed as a questionable stance.. though....

@@jeffcarlson3269 You don't have to go to the exact places, knowing how/what message they are trying to convey/support is enough. Yeah to me at least, I think it's pretty clear, a complementary view is the original biblical point of view. I can see how you'd say it's liberal or at least towing a line, I'm starting to understand now.

@@Jodie_M I do have a review on both of them. The nelson is older than this review but is still on my video list. Peronsally I liked the leather on the nelson better and the paper better. However I loved the size and feel on the holman. I also liked its layout a little better.

@@Jodie_M They are BOTH excellent bibles. I already have the Nelson Full-Color and I like it VERY much. It's beautifully and aesthetically designed, well-illustrated with excellent color photos and drawings of archeology and locales, and it has a pleasant odor that I wish all books had. It's a little more "devotionally" oriented than the Holman. Its introductions are not quite as long or detailed and the study notes are briefer, but quite enough to serve its purpose. It has a number of good helps of various types, some of which are not common in study bibles. Its concordance is keyed to Strong's numbers! I like its leather and its paper is the best that I have seen in any bible. It's a real labor of love. But I am liking this Holman version very much as well, and I think I will get a copy thanks to this man's excellent review. Love the KJV!
