IWS is proud to present the Holmes D.T.U. (Detachable Towing Unit) by Miller Industries. It has been re-designed to decrease rear overhang, increase front axle weight, and offer better towability. With repositioned lift cylinders, the D.T.U. G2 also provides superior underlift height and further improved center of gravity and weight transfer.
The unit comes standard with a 20,000 lb planetary winch, 175’ of 9/16” wire rope and front legs that allow the unit to be easily removed in a matter of minutes so your truck can be multi-functional for both towing and pulling trailers. The D.T.U. G2 is designed to secure to your truck using a front lock-down bracket and your Fifth Wheel Plate. The power for the unit is provided by an optional wet line kit, with quick connect couplers, which is installed on your truck. Other popular options include a 25,000 lb planetary winch, tool boxes and lanyard controls; all of which are available from your local Holmes distributor.

We had one of these but never used it, I was in Texas at a FreightLiner dealer, when in drove a homemade unit that was All air, it used Air Bags, all it did was manually extend, then raise and lower with air from the glad hands, it would raise about 30 inches. Pretty easy to use, no hydraulics.

With a long wheelbase like that you can tow fully loaded tractor trailers up and down the freeway all day long… don’t forget that blue service line ran to the trailer though lol

Hey 9er, do you drive one of theses as well? You seem to drive everything else from a 9 car Cottrell transporter to a D11 dozer and Cat mining truck, through to a train. Oh and let's not forget you apparently were a Concorde pilot/captain as well as ex USAF. LMFAO

Thanks,thats what I figured but I was hoping I could get away without doing a wet kit.We currently have a honda pony motor mounted on our rig to run a lowboy but its a pain in the ass.

250 Minimum wheel base recommend. What's the wheel base of the Kenworth in the video? It can't be anywhere near 250.

I bought a trail eze te80xt trailer from united rentals, They sell a portable wet /hydraulic kit powered by a 13 horsepower honda engine. It has a 10 gallon reservoir, 2200 psi, and I think 12 gallons a minute. It's a great self contained skid mount wet kit that I do not know if it would power this, you would just have to check the pressure and volume requirements. Some of the portable wet kits out there really work well, mine Is great for my trailer. It's a place to start looking for one to handle this DTU
