Mumei finally gets a new pc! With a new GPU such as a RX 3070 and 32 gigs of ram, Mumei is now streaming with a BEEFY pc!
Only problem is... her internet!
Mumei tells us of some tech issues she's been having, that frustrated her so much that she asked everyone how to help fix it. Luckily, Amelia Watson of Tech Industries comes in and saves the day!
By just telling her to restart the internet!
A wholesome story from the birb~

Glasses are really versatile. First, you can have glasses-wearing girls take them off and suddenly become beautiful, or have girls wearing glasses flashing those cute grins, or have girls stealing the protagonist's glasses and putting them on like, "Haha, got your glasses!' That's just way too cute! Also, boys with glasses! I really like when their glasses have that suspicious looking gleam, and it's amazing how it can look really cool or just be a joke. I really like how it can fulfill all those abstract needs. Being able to switch up the styles and colors of glasses based on your mood is a lot of fun too! It's actually so much fun! You have those half rim glasses, or the thick frame glasses, everything! It's like you're enjoying all these kinds of glasses at a buffet. I really want Luna to try some on or Marine to try some on to replace her eyepatch. We really need glasses to become a thing in Hololive and start selling them for HoloComi. Don't. You. Think. We. Really. Need. To. Officially. Give. Everyone. Glasses?

Seriously guys, turning something really off and on is super useful to fix issues. Imagine you are travelling and are stuck somewhere because you somehow lost your way and are weighed down with a backpack that accidentally you put way too much stuff in despite trying to keep it as light as necessary as you went along. That restart is basically plucking you up and puts you where you started off of and where you know the way and empties your backpack so only the stuff you need is in there.

People professionally streaming for a living on Wifi is like someone racing Formula 1 in a Corolla
@SilverLining1
@SilverLining1 2 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? There's hardly a difference between being hardwired and using wifi unless you have a really bad router. Hardwire is technically better, but chances are that if you're a streamer you've already picked something like a 5 gigahertz wifi router, so it's not gonna be a bottleneck.
@DomitionX
@DomitionX 2 жыл бұрын
@@SilverLining1 Only in ideal conditions. Wifi has lower average latency but much higher variability, which has great effect on the experience. The situation Mumei describes where she can't connect ethernet is likely one where wifi is also not in ideal conditions. As an example, I have a high quality AP but other 'dumb' APs around can force it to change its channel, causing disconnections and instability, and that's in the same room. My walls eat wifi for breakfast. Even in ideal conditions, my wifi is only about 10% the speed of ethernet in practical applications despite showing up to 600mbps in speed tests.
@TubeofDestiny
@TubeofDestiny 2 жыл бұрын
@@SilverLining1 5GHz Wifi, while fantastic when it works, has much less range and capacity to go through walls, only 2.4 GHz can properly cover an entire house. Big up to the folks at iOS and Android devteams for not allowing users to force 2.4Ghz when it's the same SSID btw, really appreciated by millions of users enjoying the signal losses👍 Good luck finding a decent, low latency and easy to set up repeater either, there's a reason why people end up laying down cables in their home and offices, even if it's to place more Wifi routers, repeaters just don't work. As for latency, going from 80 ms to 30 ms is very noticeable in real-time games - even more so when the WiFi latency fluctuates between 70 ms at 120 ms every few second due to network congestion (with the vast majority of the Internet users living in urban areas, you're inevitably within range of 5 to 10 AP and 20 to 30 devices, at the very minimum, saturation is absolutely real nowadays).

A professional streamer should ALWAYS use wired. WiFi fights with the whole neighborhood for bandwidth. A microwave oven, a rotating metal fan in your bathroom vent, a rogue overpowered AP next door, there are a million ways to mess up WiFi in ways you'll never be able to figure out.
@TBKSSS
@TBKSSS 2 жыл бұрын
Hm? At the very "best", these things lead to packet loss/unstable signal, but unless you have a combination of shitty equipment and/or a lot of space and obstacles between the setup and the router, it hardly matters if you're not playing hardcore competitive gaming or fighting games

@@johnbradshaw3001 not really, every streaming program has some sort of buffers, unless we're talking about a second of drop or so, (which if happens, there are surely bigger problems, like a wall or two) it doesn't matter, because it's gonna be like a couple of frame drop at worse
@TubeofDestiny
@TubeofDestiny 2 жыл бұрын
@@TBKSSS "packet loss/unstable signal" = these things are absolute HELL for troubleshooting, I wouldn't wish these on my worst enemies. They are not logged and displayed in any of the Windows tools, so you could be spending weeks, if not months, trying to troubleshoot a problem that is happening infrequently, without ever figuring out why this software often crashes or glitches out, or freezes for several seconds. Then one day, you use your phone for tethering because they're renovating the street, or you eventually replace your router due to changing ISP or offer, and the irregular problem is gone. At first you think it's just a fluke. Then it dawns on you: the router was shite, the signal was actually fluctuating from ok to poor behind your back, but on the bandwidth test or when you ran a diagnostic tool for 2 minutes it was 100% fine. Having it ruin your every day browsing is a pain in the ass but okay, you can survive through that. Having it ruin your job, 8+ hours a day? Made you go through the dozens of software, rolling back forth tens of drivers for all your devices (for the tracking, audio mixer, video capture, etc), all that for nothing? Eff that, just laying down that ethernet cable is 1 less major element to mind about, no point in sticking to WiFi on your main station.
@TBKSSS
@TBKSSS 2 жыл бұрын
@@TubeofDestiny there are diagnostic and logging tools for doing that also, as I said, it hardly matters even if it manages to happen, and if it does and it matter, it's just likely as other problems with an ethernet cable

I'm a cable guy and this is literally it. "My internet is slow!" Reboot, fixed. "My phone doesn't call out!" Reboot, fixed. "My DVR recordings won't play!" Reboot, fixed. If you gotta reboot multiple times a week, sure, that's probably an actual issue. But things like modems, which are *always* on for most people, do need to be reset every so often.
@SilverLining1
@SilverLining1 2 жыл бұрын
The problem is when you diagnose the issue yourself, call the internet company, and they completely ignore you and do their own diagnostics, through you, starting with the classic "have you tried turning it off and on again?", making you slowly go through everything you already did and more, just to finally arrive at the conclusion you initially gave that they ignored, only for them to offer a solution that doesn't work and hang up. Rinse and repeat. It's no wonder why people have a negative association with the command, even if it does help most of the time.

That's now it's supposed to be though. Even if they do force-rotate your IP daily (I remember hearing about one local ISP doing that), it's supposed to hapen gracefully... your open connections would still drop though. And your router is probably NATing all wired and wireless lan, so your pcs shouldn't care about what's going on the other end. I'd ask the isp's support to help with the issue, because having to power cycle the router every day is not right.

You can literally restart them from the admin panel. Also in the history of owning modems and routers, I have not once had one break because I turned them off via button. Also you can pull the power cable from them to shut them off. Also if you're restarting often enough to actually break the button or weaken the power connection, you have bigger problems than a broken modem/router. Either your lines at your house are fucked, the lines for your neighborhood or area are fucked, or your ISP is fucking you. And by the way, on the off chance you do some how break a modem, you can literally buy a new one. It doesn't take 30 days to get another one.
