I'm trying the Microcosm for the first time. I'm late to the party, but... WOW! This is truly a unique, groundbreaking pedal. I can create so many sounds I have never heard before!
Glitchy goodness.
I'm planning on making fuller demo videos of the Hologram Microcosm in the future. Tell me in the comments below what you'd like to learn (how to craft great original tones with the Microcosm? how to use the phrase looper? something else?)

One challenge I’m trying to overcome is consistent timing on the glitch effects and the looper. The device’s clock is separate from the looper, and quantize doesn’t update the clock to the loop tempo. I think I’ll use my Octatrack for clock/metronome, and then use the Microcosm’s quantize function to record in-time loops to get consistently musical glitches. Outside of that, I’ve been loving it!

You need to do a talking demo of this pedal, not just for us, but for you to get more familiar with it. I'm looking forward to that episode or even better, a series of episodes-

Awesome demo. Really like the idea of the microcosm and seriously considering getting one... im just wondering, how would it perform in a live setting with a band?

It will be interesting to hear what it can do as a stand alone pedal. Many videos includes it in an already set up pedal board with ambiant presets or at least just a reverb and compressor something clean, then with more effects. In that way we will get what it does for real then the possibilities, instead of seeing someone really good at crafting ambiant sounds as there is already many videos with this pedal featuring really good sound designers.

it is amazing as a standalone pedal Imo! it has a fantastic and deep reverb built in as well as further modulation, a hold function and looper

I would like to see a demo of the looper. It would be great to see what is being played on the guitar so I can get an idea of how much the effect is adding. Thanks for this and all your other videos.

Been unloading / selling pedals that require rereading on the tech sheets, I’d rather play than read, but when this came along I find that I am trying to convince myself that I’ll put the time in to get the most out of this pedal. Still not sure, so I am curious to see what you’ll make of it over time.

I used to own a Microcosm and sold it after a year or so. It's an awesome pedal to toy around with, but I somehow felt totally disconnected from it. It's like a DAW built into a pedal and I'm not really into that approach.

@@danielleinad6019 I found a similar experience, really nice sounds from it but far too unpredictable, I also found that a lot of the algorithms sound the same, so when you have 4 patches per algorithm, they don't really sound much different.

@@scatterbain1628 The Microcosm is the Bob Ross of fx pedals. It provides you with instant pleasure. Some musicians will definitely be able to put the pedal to a good use, for me it was merely a toy for entertainment with rather sterile/digital sound.

Antoine, this pedal has such incredibly beautiful textures and sounds - I want one really bad.However, it is VERY expensive. Is there perhaps another pedal that offers some of the same possibilities, that might be much more affordable? Thanks, much!

I have personally never heard many of the sounds on this pedal elsewhere. It is truly unique - and it is very rare, because most pedals are just variations on the same concepts! So I can't really recommend something similar.

Thanks, Antoine. I do see a used one that is much more affordable. However, my other concern are the gain control isn’t loud enough, and for a pedal of such complexity, it should definitely have pre-sets. Thoughts?

Antoine, I was looking at your favorite pedals and gear page on you latest video and see you have not included the Microcosm pedal - have you changed your mind about it?

Not at all! It's just that the page where I list my favorite gear is a shop offering me affiliate revenue, and they do not have the Microcosm in stock at the moment, so I couldn't include it on that page. But that list is definitely about 90% of my favorites, might be a few missing like the Microcosm!
