There's a JP clip of Kanata that I have bookmarked, none of that moment translated into English. It was the beginning of a Sekiro stream where Kanata gushed over Japan's semifinal win against Mexico in the 2023 WBC. That game was full of downs and ups for the Japan team, and she was full of energy going through its plays and playmakers, especially recreating her reaction to the game-winning hit.

People who don't know anything about baseball may be wondering about Ohtani, the current Dodgers player whose name keeps popping up around this collab. Kanata hinted at it, but he may really be the most talented, perhaps just BEST player of all time. In baseball, you specialize either as a player who hits/bats or one who pitches, but Ohtani does both (not this season due to an injury), which has not been done at a high level in a century. You could argue when healthy, he is a top 3 batter and top 10 pitcher in MLB. It's like if a VTuber was simultaneously the best streaming talent and also the best manager behind the scenes. So Ohtani....Ohtani is A-chan. There it is, that's the answer.

If i remember correctly, theres a world map that show most popular sport in each country and Japan is the only country that show Baseball on the map. It is the biggest thing there apparently.

Although it already had a presence in the country, baseball really became big in Japan as a direct result of the post-WWII American occupation. It's also worth mentioning that although Sumo is the officially-recognized "national game" of Japan, baseball is actually the most popular sport in the country by a wide margin, and is considered by many to be the true national sport unofficially due to its popularity and more widespread appeal.

Nice vid. When I heard Suisei wondering out loud why she was selected since she's not a big baseball fan, my mind immediately when to Holomems like Korone and Subaru who are. I guess if they wanted big blue names, they got them but for people who know, I feel like it would be more meaningful to have the girls who are interested participate.

@@DBT1007 Not to be that guy, but many ball players in MLB right now are from many different countries. Mostly Latin American countries, but you have some from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia (Liam Hendricks), Germany (Max Kepler), South Africa (Taylor Scott) and more. It may not be popular in Europe, but Latin America and even some South American countries love Baseball. Many of the best Baseball players in the MLB aren't even American. Hell even Australia has their own professional league!

@@rooislangwtf MLB recently implemented a pitch clock timer to speed up games and it has actually worked in reducing game times. It went from being around 3 and a half hours to just under 3 hours and some ending even earlier than that.

I can respect Korone moving stream times around sports. If I had to make that call, hockey would dictate stream schedule. Also prob'ly smart to not have Kanata-chan be part of the Dodgers thing if she's worried about her mom watching. I'm willing to bet that a lot of the Americans in EN know "something" about baseball. It's this weird thing most Americans go through: One baseball game and one "football" game, minimum by the time they're 18. Other sports you get dragged to vary by location.
