Thank you for recognizing all that James does. The guy is not only a signer/songwriter, he's playing sometimes complicated riffs at high speeds while singing. Incredible musician who doesn't get enough praise because he's in a genre that is deemed lesser.
@Grigeral
@Grigeral 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say he's underpraised because the genre is deemed lesser. Metallica are absolutely huge and they have been for the past 20 years. To the point they are even known outside of the metal genre, which speaks volumes. The thing is, while it's impressive yes, there comes a point in learning an instrument where you are able to do the basics without thinking about it. That's the point you 'have' to be at in order to sing while you play. And if you can do it, it won't matter how fast you need to play it because you're already able to do it. Not saying this to downplay him as a musician though, don't get me wrong. There is no doubt in my mind he knows his way around a guitar like the best of them, but thrash metal especially, is filled with singers who play instruments while also doing vocals, which is why it's often not really picked up on.

I think James is one of the most under appreciated guitarist/frontman in the industry. Most people equate solos and major modes and scales as talent but overlook the riffing! Listen to main riff of battery and try to play it. And sing. Very. Very tough. He’s the reason I play guitar

Not sure if anyone has said anything about this yet, but here goes. Justice was Jason Newsted's first original MetallicA album. There was no bass parts written for the album, so they just had Jason mimic James' rhythm parts. That is why Justice has such a heavy sound.

Metallicas metal is like the original formula for Coca Cola. Others can try to copy it, but only the TRUE formula is loved the world over. There are bands that have tried to mimic Metallica and have failed. They set a standard for the metal community that will live on for many years to come. Long live the Kings of heavy metal. 🤘🤘🤘🤘

I tried to learn this song and sing it at the same time, then I was like “fuck it”. It’s satisfying enough just to play the rhythm guitar part, which is saying a lot.
@angryktulhu
@angryktulhu 3 жыл бұрын
Singing and playing at the same time is 10x harder than just doing one thing. Dunno why. You gotta keep 2 things at the same time and such parallelism is very unnatural and hard for our brains. We are not created for multitasking
@PortugueseKeto
@PortugueseKeto 3 жыл бұрын
@@angryktulhu rhythm guitar is literally playing a repeated rhythm, so your body can kinda fall into a sort of auto pilot while you play, allowing you to sing as you play. It also helps if you know the lyrics cold. But this riff is pretty complicated, especially transitions, so singing along is difficult to be sure.

Yes...react to more Metallica full albums. Next should be their first studio album, Kill 'Em All, released in July, '83. Lars and James were both 19, Kirk was 20, Cliff was the old man at 21. And they blew people's minds... especially Cliff's bass solo.
