I finally watch HOME ALONE (1990) for the first time ever! It was so amazing and such a funny and cute movie! Excited to do sequel soon!

Movie Summary:
It is Christmas time and the McCallister family is preparing for a vacation in Paris, France. But the youngest in the family, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), got into a scuffle with his older brother Buzz (Devin Ratray) and was sent to his room, which is on the third floor of his house. Then, the next morning, while the rest of the family was in a rush to make it to the airport on time, they completely forgot about Kevin, who now has the house all to himself. Being home alone was fun for Kevin, having a pizza all to himself, jumping on his parents' bed, and making a mess. Then, Kevin discovers about two burglars, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), about to rob his house on Christmas Eve. Kevin acts quickly by wiring his own house with makeshift booby traps to stop the burglars and to bring them to justice.

I'm surprised so few people pick up on the fact, that the old guy seems so creepy, because Kevin is scared of him. We're seeing it through his eyes, just like the furnace looking and even acting all scary and monstrous but then when Kevin stops being afraid of it, it just magically shuts down and "becomes" a normal furnace. That's basically the movie telling us, that we see what he sees in these situations, so that includes the old man. :P

True story: my late father would crack up just watching the trailer on TV. My sister came home from college for break and we took him to see it on opening weekend which was also Thanksgiving. It was packed! We were in the middle of a huge theater, surrounded by little boys. There was a row of kids in front of us that were having a birthday party (matching shirts) and one of them almost made me have a stroke. I'll come back to him. Anyway, you all know the movie, but when the third act started up, the whole theater exploded with laughter. It was friggin bedlam in there! However, no one laughed harder than my dad! He had the greatest laugh that ever existed! He was also very short and round. I was taller than both of my parents by the time I was 8 (I'm 5'4) by a lot. So this little boy from the party turned around, pointed at my dad, who was in his late 60's, and screamed, "even the big kid is laughing!" I almost died from laughing. My sister laugh-cried herself into a bloody nose. It was awesome! Flash forward to a year later when they released "Home Alone" on to video (for the kids out there, it could take years for a film to be released on to VHS back in the day) and my genius mother pre-ordered it for us. We hosted a "Come Watch Dad Watch "Home Alone" Party," which we had catered and 25 adults showed up, to sit with their backs to the TV, on the floor, just to watch my dad laugh. Best. Party. Ever.

Home alone Christmas soundtrack is unmatched like every time you hear it a wave of nostalgia and memories flow in reminding you of how the wond was so much simpler back then less chaos

The thing to remember is that Kevin's ticket and passport were thrown in the trash the night before, so the parents wouldn't have noticed it at the airport. Kevin also slept upstairs in the attic, which meant he was less likely to hear the commotion and they wouldn't have noticed that he wasn't there. And then the girl counted the neighbor kid thinking it was Kevin, and gave the go-ahead before they left. I just like all those little touches that explain why Kevin was left behind.

tech its not bad writing’s its on brand for the cops in this movie those few minutes of back and forth between kevins mom and the police shows exactly why they are incompetent and lazy, he didnt want to be out there doing his job lol otherwise great reaction as always

I had the Home Alone 2 game on my dad's old ass desktop computer after that movie came out. It was SO cheesy LOL. Kevin is running away from those guys and dropping banana peels & knocking over toys so they slip and fall and can't catch him 😂😂😂😂 had to be like 1999 or 2000

1. John Candy did his part at union rate/FREE for his friend John Hughes RIP 😇😇 2. The items in Kevin's bags were all empty and not the same as what he had a checkout. 3. Daniel Stern/Harry is afraid of spiders. That's why he freaked out. (NOTE: tarantula spiders aren't poisonous to humans but look scary. 4. "Angels with Filthy Souls" is not a real movie. 5. GOOF: Harry has tar all over his foot when he steps on the stairs but when he grabs his foot no tar. 6. NO WAY could a child get the rope tight enough between the house and treehouse without a winch of some kind. 7. There's ANOTHER NO WAY Kevin could clean up that fast. 8. Home Alone II is good. However, Kevin as good hearted as he is, gets mean. 9. Macaulay Culkin worked with John Candy (and Hughes) in Uncle Buck. That's how he got this gig. Great first time/share. HINT HINT

i also will say if the cop said this is the police or something kevin may have actually come out but also maybe cause kevin was scared of revealing he made his family disappear he might have hid even more.

I actually once had a similar Santa Claus encounter like Kevin has in the movie. I once had a gf who's mom ran a temporary living place for kids (like what they had in Angeles in the outfield) well me and my gf took one of the girls to see Santa then after she was done Santa calls me over turns out what she wanted for Christmas was to get adopted

Glad you all finally got to see this classic. 8:38 Love how Kevin in improvising new ways to have fun. 20:20 We like tarantulas in Arizona because they kill scorpions, which really are dangerous to humans. 22:12 I do have a fear of stepping on nails in my bare feet tho!

Fun fact: the scene where Harry and marv almost hit Kevin was shot in reverse, when you watch the scene you can see his scarf moving back with the car as it goes back when usually it would just stay there

"Keep the change, you filthy animal." Fun Fact: Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern felt indifferent about the movie's potential during shooting, so they intentionally gave over-the-top performances, neither one of them believing this movie would become a massive success.

"His house" was the main setting for the 'fun-house'. The crooks were captured in the 'house across the street' where the old man lived. With his shovel.

Joe Pesci was a major supporting cast member before this film, and he might have considered "a kid's film" to be beneath him, even. His follow up films (not HOME ALONE 2) were more dramatic. He has a comedic-relief role in the Mel Gibson-Danny Glover series LETHAL WEAPON, and those are pretty fun.

So how cruel could jokes be back then? Well that scream with the tarantula on the face is 100% real and so was the tarantula. The actor actually had a phobia of them and had no idea they were gonna do that let alone use a real tarantula. He really was screaming for his life.🤣🤣🤣yeah back then jokes were cruel.

Some facts about this movie first chris Columbus did this movie because he couldn't work with chevy chase on Christmas vacation they met for dinner twice and both times were not good for chris so he did this movie instead and when joe pesci bites macs finger that really happened and mac has the scar to prove it

Are you kidding the reason he didnt say anything is because this was every little boys dream back then. Remember our heroes were Norris, Stallone and Schwarzenegger so this is the stuff we dreamed of happening. Come on in reality the kid would have been dead from the beginning. This is all a little kids dream and how a kid would dream it would end. That's what makes it so fun.

**Watching intro from opening music to introduction talk** Wow, Mrs. Flicks really changed in appearance! XD "In these movies they always portray someone as creepy and they're just normal." What I like is that in the Church scene, Old Man Marley even acknowledges he knows about the remorse. Yes, we can real with Egg Nog. Question is how can you not enjoy it? lol 10:07 "Like give me the phone! Wee wee! **Bad word** " My Mind: **In a French Accent** " **Bad word** , what is tis **Bad word** ?", that's what I would imagine a French person would say, lol. "I'm not going in there?" "Right, because Gold would spit you right back out!" He's not gonna spit them out of the Church . . . Eggnog is my all time favorite drink. The store stuff is better than homemade recipes and I prefer it without any alcohol... but some people mix it with brandy or rum. Certain brands have their own tastes that are slightly different too. Darigold is pretty much my favorite.. Also, the second Home Alone is DEFINITELY NOT better than this. It's a little more hokey and the setting is inferior, so I have no idea what people are smoking that say that but to each their own I guess.

I'd see the lot of them. The others have completely different casts and storylines. On AMC-TV, they used to feature a 'word balloon bubble' version where 'doctors' would talk about each possible injury. Those were hilariously written - "broken ribs, fractured spine, serious head injuries" etc.

I find it rather hard for a huge family in the numbers that they are traveling with and no one even notices that Kavin is not there? Not in the van sure the one girl counted the other kid by mistake, but what about when they reached the airport or driving to the airport that's a lot of eyes seeing whole lot of nothing. Kavin is so invisible to his family he might as well run away probably take them a whole week before they notice him gone. I have no sympathy for that mom or anyone in his family. I love the whole robbers trying to break in and him defending the home that is funny stuff, But I don't excuse the family at all. Now days you do something like that your kids get taken away. Lucky Kavin didn't get taken by Child service when the mom called when she told them that she left him at home alone. An 8-year-old alone. I am surprised Kevin wasn't removed from the family. Shit in today's day that what would have happened.

I agree. In both Home Alone 1 and 2 the other kids pick on Kevin mercilessly, sometimes right in front of his parents and they do nothing. Instead they blame him and in 2 they accept Buzz's obviously fake apology and get angry at Kevin for not doing so even though he is obviously the victim each time. I get that the writers needed to have a way for Kevin to be separated from the rest of the family for the plot to work but I think they could have done it better. The way they chose seems like child neglect and its the only part of these movies that I don't like.
