For particularly grimy kitchen walls and cabinets, I found that Dawn Powerwash does a great job, especially if instead of wiping you use a steam cleaner. I just hold it farther than usual so the steam isn't as pressurized to avoid damaging The surface. It's so satisfying to see all that dirt melt off 😊

@@vanessamroseTest a small spot by rubbing with a wet rag. If there’s paint on the rag, that means it’s a water-based paint. An example: Sherwin Williams ProMar 200. It’s an inexpensive paint often used in apartment buildings and in many newer homes these days. You can only dust those paints. My new half-million dollar house was built by Pulte, which used the cheapest materials known to mankind. They used ProMar and the walls aren’t cleanable and prone to scuffs and mold. Still angry about that. Anyway, here’s hoping your landlord used higher quality paints that are cleanable, scuff-resistant and mold resistant.

Just make sure that if you go to paint again that you wash with ONLY water and a little distilled white vinegar so the paint can properly adhere. But its so important to clean the grime off walls that build up specially in the bathroom and kitchen

I use mop slippers, I put them on my Swifter handle. I dip them in the clean mop water, wring out, put it on the Swifter and clean the walls. My mop slippers are used to only clean the walls (never worn on my feet) and only those and my Microfiber Clothes get washed & dried together.

I've been cleaning my walls since I was a teenager because my dad taught me to. I hand wash my walls with vinegar and baking soda because it actually helps deodorize. Make sure you wipe them off with clean water afterwards. Dont leave anything on your walls. I would be very careful using dish soap on your walls. But Castle soap is much better and safer for paint.

Walls and ceilings and door frames certainly need to be clean every month or two months. I’m surprised at the comments for who hasn’t been doing this. I’m thankful my mum taught me to wash all walls and ceilings when moving into a rental or house and when moving out as a common courtesy to others.

I'd start with cabinets and doors, things you touch, then move to high up places, baseboards and stairs would be last.

I had to do this atleast twice a month growing up. Just with a bucket and a rag or sponge. Walls, baseboards and doors. My Dad has OCD (diagnosed) along with a few others and was raised in a military household so he would white glove everything. My Mom worked fulltime so Dad said I could care for the house myself to take that stress off of her. Which was fine but out of a family of 4 the house was my responsibility alone. I had daily, weekly and monthly chores I HAD to have done otherwise I'd get double, sometimes triple, the work as punishment. As an adult there are things that have to be done a certain way but I get so overwhelmed and burned out with it all so my house is nowhere near the meticulously clean that my Dads is. Ive got arthritis in my wrists that popped up while I was still in high school as a result of the constant hand scrubbing I did as a kid. I hate cleaning now because of how particular I am and the amount of work it takes to get whatever I'm cleaning to that point. I actively avoid the dishes at ALL costs. That was a multiple times a day job growing up and they couldnt have so much as a water spot on them (no dishwasher, I did them all by hand). My husband doesnt get it because his mom did ALL the cleaning for their family. He hates the dishes too but refuses outright to do them because he says he doesnt know how... I will and do clean the rest of the house but the dishes I wont. Ive got a 13 year old and a husband that should help with atleast that one thing. My 1yo toddler already knows how to dust, sweep, switch laundry around as well as start the machines and wipes things down. Shes more help than the other 2 lol

@@Amy-rg7doGood for you! I could never understand my friends with able-bodied children letting the kids goof around and do nothing while mom was killing herself with cooking, cleaning, etc. Then when asked why they don't have the kids pitch in, they get a shocked look on their face like someone suggested they send the kids to a concentration camp. Still smh.

White vinegar full strength gets rid of nicotine before you paint so it doesn't come through. But if the house had heavy smoking in it you will need to do this a number of times.

My 5 year old loves cleaning walls! I spray it down with a peroxide spray and let it sit a few minutes. We come back and use one of the hand scrubby brushes with soap inside, and finish off with a regular sponge. Works great no matter what was on the wall.

Dawn powerwash is water, isopropyl alcohol and Dawn. Make your own mix, it's way cheaper. (3/4 water, 1/4 alcohol, and a good squirt of dawn depending on the use. For cleaning dishes i add more. For walls, counters etc, i add just a lil. I prefer using 90% alcohol and professional dawn, they make it the best all purpose cleaner)
