👍 For years I’ve kept a small pistol in the right pocket of my bathrobe, a light and folding knife in the left. But I really like this quick-on belt idea! 👍 I may not end up carrying everything you do, but this is a great concept.

I had to come back here to say thanks. I was looking to get a chest rig/plate carrier to throw on for home defense. It got to the point of paralysis through analysis. I came across this vid and thought it was a great idea. I got my belt and mag pouches last week and it's just what I was looking for. 5 seconds, I've got my holstered gun, 2 extra mags, knife, and a flashlight on my body.

Since my go to home defense gun is a Mossberg 500, my thump in the night kit is a chest rig. It has front and rear body armor panels, a pistol holster, and I have several shotgun cards affixed to it. I keep it slung over a chair in the bedroom, along with some electronic ear muffs. The ear muffs allow me to hear any possible intruders; and will hopefully keep me from getting permanent hearing damage if I have to fire my 12 gauge in the house. It's just the wife and I at home; and she knows to go to the safe room if she sees me throwing on my plate carrier.

Brian, thanks for sharing! Stories are good fun, even if "em-bare-ass-ing"... Being Canadian, home defense is a different thing for me, but I have done hiking with a belt order for carrying my knife, hatchet, first aid kit, fire pouch, 1-qt water, for 30 years.. combined with a small pack, it makes for a light but capable carryall method.

Brian, I don't know if you are ex-military but I learned to keep a "loaded belt" next to my bunk while stationed in certain areas of the world, namely the Middle East. I continue that practice today. My weapon of choice on the belt is more a deterrent than to do extreme harm. However, I do keep a shotgun in my closet next to my bed. I also set up a chest pack with essential survival items just in case. I've never had to deploy either and hopefully never will. Your belt idea is a great one and I'm sure that it will become a common item in many more homes.

I had the idea of creating a pair of coveralls that would have body armor in the front and rear and would magazine pouches and holster built in much like a plate carrier. These wolud set beside your bed with a pair of boots very much the same way a volunteer firefighter has his turn out gear ready to go. They would be called minuteman overalls.

Good one brother Bryan. I agree with your idea of velcroing everything in place. It takes precious seconds to adjust the things on your belt. If they stay put you can develop muscle memory and your hand will go exactly where you need it to go without trying to find what you need. God Bless and I pray you never need it.

I had a similar experience. 2 o'clock in the morning I woke to the sound of glass breaking! This was years ago before I had any firearms. I jumped up out of bed with a baseball bat. Ran around the house ready to whip some you know what. Finally I realized a glass fell over in the sink. Me and the wife laughed later about it.

I would suggest using anything other than a long bladed weapon. It's not as intimadating as you may think and it's very hard to use especially in side of a house. Unless you have a massive open house or only plan on staying in one room, I'd upgrade to a knife or tazer. Much more manuevarble and you don't need to be a samurai to use them effectively

I too have a Tac belt for the very reason that you stated. I'd like to suggest having a couple of sets of handcuffs. In the event that you do catch an intruder or two. You can detain them in a safe for you and safe for them manner until the law arrives. Also, a set of house keys and car keys on a silent key holder in case you lock yourself outside or you need to drive around the block. Keep up the good work.

Great idea, living in the uk (Scotland) I am not able to carry or use a gun, but I have my trusted tomcat 80lb crossbow, and some knives, along with my fairly powerful catapult and easy access ball bearing ammo,, so that gives my partner and I a little bit of peace of mind if someone does happen to "unfortunately" break in especially during these uncertain times, you can never be too careful.

Bryan, you got me thinking and I dug out a ComfortTac velcro belt from one of my range bags. The ComfortTac belt is one of the most comfortable holster systems I've ever used. It's almost like my Nike gym weight lifting belt but softer and lighter. With the velcro secured in front, located over my right hip bone are two pockets, one with an elastic strap that has a snap closure where my Ruger is secured; next to it is an open pocket where I have a tactical Smith&Wesson folder and a small high lumen Olight flashlight with a hat/belt clip. In velcro pouches over my left hip are two magazine pouches. What I like about the ComfortTac is that it is form fitting and quiet until you pull the velcro apart of course. My Klik belt has a tendency to make sounds upon accessing any of the components attached to the belt. Another reason I love this ComfortTac belt is if you get into hand-to-hand combat with the perpetrator the belt moves with your motions vs the Klik belt which could swing/move in a direction possibly preventing you from accessing your weapon. I would imagine though that once you don and secure the belt you'd be drawing the weapon from its holster. I just like to make sure there's a perpetrator and not a family member before I draw my weapon.

Very nice. Might I suggest a Kevlar and/or ballistic cordura loincloth attached to the front of the belt to cover up the goods when the belt is all you’re wearing.

My range belt/“battle belt” set up has a holster, mag pouch,flashlight,multi-tool and IFAK so it just gets staged near my bed and does double duty as my Home defense belt as well...one click gets you from zero-to-hero lmao(With the proper training/practice of course)

I too had an incident at a former residence one cold January night around 15 yrs ago. We were awoken about 3am to a sound I can only describe as loud and disturbing. My wife was first out of bed and attempted to run out the bedroom to check out one of our dogs who was sick and in his kennel. I of course stopped her because I was convinced it was a home invasion which called for me to be the man of the house and handle it. So I, shalaylee swinging, began clearing the house with my 12 ga. To my surprise there were no invaders just the top of the 90 foot tree out back that had broken off about 15ft off the ground and laid itself down across the yard and house putting a rather large hole in roof of the house utterly destroying the kitchen. I have not changed my sleeping habits but I now have a side saddle on that shotgun.

Honestly, when I set up my belt... from SWAT equipment to the civilian side.... I just used a bit of tape to hold them in place. And wire ties. Always wiretie that shit in place. They don't give or break.

From a retired peace officer you need to move that magazine in the back. When you put something in the small of your back and then you are pushed into something like a fence or a wall you will destroy your back. Move the magazine to either side of your back along the muscle and you will be fine. Nice job.

Few people are awoken from their slumber and tasked to go from 0-100 MPH than firefighters. 20 years ago I must've subconsciously thought of this when I began to simply leave the pants, complete with all of my gear, just beside my bed in a manner that allows me to easily place my feet into the legs, pull up, snap and clasp before looping my arm under the portion of my sling nearest me, hanging off of my headboard. Consistency in training and operation has always been a good thing for me, so I never saw value in any other concepts I thought of. It's always the same setup, whether I'm in my bed or across the country. Same guns, knives, light, wallet, belt and shoes. I hope after 20 years, you will feel as good about your system as I do mine. I will say though, there is a reason you only see equipment carried SOB in Hollywood: the spine doesn't care much for anything pressed into it, especially at speed. You may want to train from the ground with that setup, before you commit. Last observation, if I may; fighting without clothes and footwear is a rough way to go. Slipping on steps, catching a pinky toe on a chair, stepping on broken glass, or kneeling in it, are all bad things, and could prove deadly when loaded weapons are in the picture. Normally, I'm not compelled to comment on your videos. I watch the ones that interest me, hit the button and carry on. In this instance, I saw an opportunity to help someone that clearly is open to help (ie. the tools and training you mentioned). Stay safe.

I’d recommend a padded belt, velcro is more made for a dual belt system with a velcro inner belt, a padded belt would feel better on bare skin and would stay in place better

New sub after this video. Like minded people. Been doing this for years. Running soe belt. Home depot has the hook and look industrial. Used some of the old digital bdu pouches. Its faster than a chest rig on and off. Chest rig is for boogiloo and belt is for night bumps. Do suggest and additional alarm box in your bed room. 2 reasons. 1 its hard to communicate with those that live in your home over the sirens. 2 once the sirens shut off criminals tend to realize someone is home and they need to leave but the down side is you immediately lose the element of surprise. The other side of that is the alarm it self will put the criminals on high alert. I do suggest putting a radio on the belt or some kind of internal communication device on the belt that will allow you to speak with the other residents of your home. You can pick up electronic hearing protection that also has a Mic really cheap on eBay that will protect your ears, amplify low level sound to keep your situational awareness.
